Below is an email I received from Lenovo after I submitted my review on their website. Included is the review I submitted. Apparently, poor reviews are not allowed on their websites. Anyway, I've had nothing but trouble withh this computer. Spent over $700 on it and have no working computer to show for it since the problems started the day my return option at Best Buy expired.
Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!

Can't review.... because it hasn't worked!
I never write reviews. But I felt compelled after what I've gone through since purchasing this computer. I will preface this review by saying that I can't imagine that my experience is common or Lenovo wouldn't be in business.I bought this computer about 6 weeks ago. It worked great for about 2 weeks which, of course, is the length of Best Buys return policy. After 2 weeks the computer became glitchy, shutting down for no reason, closing my windows or no reason, taking 10 minutes to start up, unable to connect to the internet, etc. After several hours on the phone with tech support they were unable to help so they had me reinstall the entire operating system. Then the computer worked for a few more days before the same issues came back.So back on the phone with Lenovo tech support who went through the same steps again. More hours on the phone and finally they said I had to send my computer back to them to evaluate. Oh, and I had to pay to ship it to them. So a week and a half later I get an email that my computer is all better and will be shipped back to me. No explanation about what was wrong with it.Imagine my surprise when I get an email stating that FedEx tried to deliver my computer but no one was home. I had been home all day. I called FedEx and when I gave my address they said that that wasn't the address on the package. They couldn't legally tell me what the address on the package was or give me the package because of the address issue. Called Lenovo AGAIN and they couldn't help but offered to send an email to a supervisor who would get the email within 24 hours and get back to me some time after that. Gee thanks. Meanwhile FedEx is going to try to deliver my computer to some random address and if that person signs for it I guess I'm out a $700 computer. Eventually, in spite of Lenovo's inability and/or unwillingness to help, I got my computer from the FedEx holding center downtown. Lenovo had addressed my computer to go to some people down the street from me.I've now had the computer back for 3 days so I haven't had the chance to use it enough to review it. But what I can say is that Lenovo's customer service has been terrible and I wish I never bought this computer. It's been nothing but a headache. I can't say that I'm happy that Best Buy wouldn't stand behind a product they sold me, either, but at least they are clear about their return policy. I will never buy another Lenovo product again. Ever. I just hope the computer works for more than 2 weeks this time.
Update...I've had the computer back for a couple of weeks and am now having the same problems again.

I suggest you turn off automatic updates on your system. Your computer seems to work for a short time after repair then fails. Sounds like there was an automatic update of your system that conflicted with existing drivers on your system. If you turn off automatic updates, you will be alerted that there is an update for your system available. You can create a restore point on your system before you allow the update. Then if the update creates a problem you can restore back to before the update. Also you may want to follow the link below to Lenovo.com support-drivers and look for new driver updates for your specific system. Once again, create a restore point on your system before you make changes or download new software. I hope this improves your system's performance: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-Edge-Series-Laptops/edge-2-1580/80QF/0005US?linkTrack=Caps%253ABody_SearchProduct&tabName=downloads&beta=false

Eh, not bad

I purchased this for college and it does what I assumed. Not a bad laptop for the money. The only issue I had was after a few updates, the WLAN driver was having issues. After going through Lenovo customer support and Geek Squad at Best Buy, I ended up fixing the issue myself by uninstalling the driver manually and then reinstalling it from Lenovo's website. This should have been done by either customer support options I used, but, that is neither here nor there. In conclusion, not a bad laptop for simple uses.

Great laptop

I had a good experience with Lenovo at work so went with this laptop after reading reviews and bad experiences with HP and especially Toshiba. Have had the laptop for over two months and it works very well. Setup was quick and easy. As this and many other laptops have no optical drive, I later purchased an external one that could read CDs, DVDs and Blu Ray. I did have a problem getting that set up but it seemed to be a Microsoft issue. After going back and forth between Microsoft, LG (the drive manufacturer) and Lenovo, I eventually figured out the problem on my own. I love the touchscreen, backlit keyboard and zoom function on this laptop. Responsiveness is very quick and the sound and visual quality is beyond my expectations. As my daughters are beginning college in the fall, I purchased two more of these laptops less than two weeks ago. Again, no problems whatsoever and they love all the features, especially the two-in-one so they can use it as a tablet. I am even getting a price adjustment as this is on sale now. Wifi connectivity is great throughout our home and backyard. Overall, I am very happy..

Great Laptop if you install the right video driver
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This laptop is fantastic once you remedy the video driver issue. As a lot of you have read, most of the negative reviews have come from users who have experienced some kind of video error or video driver related issue. All 6th generation i5 or i7 intel skylake processors are cpu/gpu (video) on the same chip. The i5 version comes with the intel 520 graphics. The latest drivers from Lenovo do not fix this problem. You have to do a search on Intel's website for the latest Intel 520 graphics driver for 6th generation chips. Make sure it's 6th and not 5th or it will not work. Now in order for the Intel update to work you will have to totally uninstall the old graphics driver under device manager. If asked to remove all, tell it yes. I you do not the driver will not update. The reason being is, Lenovo has a special driver installed and it will not take any other driver unless it comes from Lenovo regardless of how new it is. Once the old driver is uninstalled and latest Intel driver installed no more issues. Hope this helps...

Pretty good, but constant blackouts are deterring

I've had this laptop for a little over two weeks now. Despite the negative reviews I'd seen, I decided to give it a chance.
Initially it worked perfectly fine, all of the specs and graphics were great, but after two or three days it began to continually blackout within 30 minutes of usage (not even a mouse icon appears).
Yes, the computer works fine, but the constant screen blackouts are a big issue (this morning alone I counted at least five blackouts over the course of an hour).
I plan to exchange this computer for another in hopes of improvement, but if the same issue occurs, I plan to return to my most trusted companion "Toshiba".
If you choose to purchase this laptop, be mindful of this warning.

Really Wish I Could Be a Fan

I have to say that initially I really liked this computer. I have been waiting for about 3 years now to buy a laptop. Been getting by with great smartphones and a tablet. I've heard really good things about Lenovo and even talked to some people who have Lenovo laptops similar to this one. Everyone was super happy. I purchased my first Edge 2 about two and half weeks ago. Two hours after I took it out of the box, the fan started running loudly and the keyboard completely shorted out. Mouse pad wouldn't respond and every key I pressed came out as a 6, f, w or q (and that includes Num Lock and Backspace). I returned it and was assured this was an unheard of problem. I exchanged it for another Edge 2 and went home. For two weeks, it was incredible. Super fast, easy to use, everything I could want from a 2 in 1. Then suddenly while it was charging (I wasn't on it at the time. It was just off by itself charging) the fan started running loudly, the keyboard shorted out like before and the screen got locked upside down.
I would love to be able to recommend this computer but it's been nothing but trouble for me. I'll be returning the 2nd one later today and getting a different computer. *sad face* What I CAN recommend is the Conroe, TX Geek Squad. They're the best! They've been super helpful and made this whole process go from migraine to mild irritation.

Good laptop, but not so good 360 deg

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I purchased this product online as an open box so got a good deal. Got this product since I could turn 360 deg and also use it as a tablet when I need to.. somehow when I turn over 180 deg, there is a touch in hinges and there is a sound that comes from the joint. Its not a very smooth flip. Still good deal and good performance.

Gorgeous 2-in-1 with Ugly Flaws!

let me start out by saying that I absolutely wanted to fall in love with this machine. It has a sleek profile, super thin - to rival Mac Book Air. Really nice display. Full HD Display. Screen is matte and non-reflective. Quite light as well for the 15.6 widescreen version. The deal breaker for me was the wifi connectivity. it didn't work straight out of the box. I had to restart the machine just to get the wifi to turn on, and then it would lose connectivity. For a $700+ machine - this is completely unacceptable - especially when you have budget machines like Lenovo G80, Acer Aspire V series, Asus UX series - not having any wifi issues. The second pain point was the super long startup time. Other reviewers will say that the wifi is fixable by downloading drivers and stuff - but thats a major flaw in my opinion and I'm just not willing to take a chance on a machine that has this serious of a flaw. Thirdly, this machine has been discontinued by Lenovo. Save yourself some grief and stay away! you have been warned. I returned this immediately (today, Sunday 07/31/16). I got it in the mail yesterday (Saturday 07/30/16).

Very Bad

Very disappointing laptop, within a few days of purchasing the problems started. First problem was when the laptop goes to sleep, it would not wake up at all. The only solution is to restart the laptop holding the power button resulting in all your work loss. I exchanged it with another piece and another problem started. This time the touch pad and keyboard totally stopped working, I called Lenovo customer service and after hours of trying to fix it, they admitted that they can't solve the problem and I should return the laptop. Needless to say I returned this unsatisfactory laptop. Please don't waste your money on this ridiculous laptop; get something else.

I should've gone with the HP
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I rarely write reviews, but this experience warrants comment.
I went into Best Buy prepared to buy an HP I had reviewed extensively online. Unfortunately, it was Black Friday. I wasn't there to shop sales, but rather, I was just unfortunate enough to have my previous machine fail two days prior. (I'd had that machine for over 6 years, and if I could revive it, I'd go back to it in a heartbeat.)
The HP machine I wanted was out of stock and unavailable to be ordered. It wasn't just backordered; it was literally not available to be ordered. The store manager was very apologetic, saying the machine shouldn't be on the floor if they can't order it. He offered me this Lenovo at the sale price they were offering for the HP machine I wanted. He said this Lenovo was essentially the same machine as the HP I had selected. (If that's the case, I'm sure I'd be hating the HP right now as well.) The customer service at Best Buy was outstanding, but that's where the positives of this experience end.... and the only reason I'm giving this any stars at all.
This machine is incredibly slow. With 8 GB RAM and an Intel i5 processor, I expected a speedy machine with few issues. I have the exact opposite. The machine repeatedly freezes and throws out a Windows 8 display driver crash error. (Particularly annoying given the machine is running Windows 10.) Program after program freezes and crashes. The machine has claimed a variety of victims... Word, Publisher, Excel (actually had to reinstall this one), Mozilla Firefox, Explorer, Shockwave Flash... so basically everything I've used on it thus far. None of these programs is exactly "high need" or complex. This is basic stuff here, but it cannot handle them.
One of the reasons I picked this machine was because of its 2-in-1 tablet/laptop hybrid style. Unfortunately, once this machine goes into tablet mode (and it does so reluctantly), it will not come back out without me going into settings and manually turning off the tablet setting. I have the settings icon pinned to my task bar because I have to mess with this so often.
The mouse touchpad on the machine is not placed well, but I've adjusted to that. Still, I have to deal with repeated "bleep" errors basically telling me I've hit a mis-key or the like, and I have to navigate my curser back to the location where I'm typing. This is a frequent and time-consuming error. I've been working at a keyboard, typing with much fluency, for 20 years. I can assure you, I am not executing the process this poorly. It's just yet another glitch I cannot figure out.
I considered returning this machine, but the reality is I got such a good price on it, I convinced myself I could reinstall some drivers and get it working well. I have proven myself very wrong and am now outside the return period. I am now stuck having to work with Lenovo and filing all of this as a warranty claim.
I am considering removing all of my files and doing a factory reset, but honestly, why should I have to do that on a brand new machine?? This is ridiculously annoying and is costing me a ton of work time I cannot afford to be giving up.
Do yourself a favor... Buy a different machine.

Great computer

I got this unit after several Q&A sessions with Best Buy staff. I've always had good luck with Lenova tablets, so I figured this would be another winner, and everything on this computer has worked flawlessly.
I was torn between an Asus and this unit...for me it came down to a few details.
I really like the matt finish, I don't care for the glossy finish most manufacturers use. This does make the Lenovo a bit heavier, but it also lacks the thin plastic construction most models offer.
It doesn't have a disk drive which is great because it keeps the unit thinner than most, and unless you still have a DVD collection you won't miss it.
The only downside so far is not having more USB3's, but unless you go with a tower or manufactures stop with the USB2's that'll always be the case.

If you are looking for all around good laptop you should really look into buying this one. I bought mine over a month ago and I am really satisfied on what it does. When I was looking for a laptop I was looking for something simple and easy to use and that is what I got. The bad side about this is it's battery time. It usually lasts about two hours. So if your looking for a simple easy laptop that can do minimal gaming you should get this.

Wifi issues & failed hardware scan out of the box

I am a Lenovo fan but this was a bad buy. Looks great and seem great on paper but wifi adapter kept stopping. Would disappear from device manager. No windows 10 driver or some such thing. Also failed the Lenovo hardware scan when. brand new. Not sure if these are lenovo hardware problems or windows 10 related but Best Buy easily refunded my money with no hassles. All these problems occured right away on the first day after applying all windows upates.

Good Design but has MAJOR Issues

I really liked this laptop when I first bought it but probably two weeks after I bought it it started having problems.
-The screen goes completely black sometimes but everything else continues to work you just can't see what you are doing.
-It gets errors constantly and has to restart probably twice a day. This is especially annoying because I am a student and when I am working on a paper or something it restarts without warning and I lose what I've typed unless I saved it.
-The keyboard randomly stopped working. Literally everything on the keyboard. The letters and number were all 6's and there was nothing I could do. I call Lenovo and they said that it was a hardware issue and that I had to send it in. I let the battery die just as a last hail Mary and it fixed it.

It's a PC! It's a Tablet!
It' actually BOTH.
With an Intel Core i5 processor, and 8 GB of RAM, it performs very well.
The keyboard if very nice, and not too small. The track pad is very responsive, and has made me change my mind on them from my last PC that had a terrible one.
Battery life seems to be very good. WiFi setup was a snap. And Windows 10 is great.
Steaming video, is not a problem, even over a crowded network.
There is no optical drive, so installing some of my legacy software will be a minor challenge, but, I believe some of my software, and of course, newer software, can be downloaded for installation.
Bottom line. ... It's powerful, light, and priced well. Get one!

I loved everything about this laptop until one day it was making a loud noise. When I tried to log in no matter what key I hit the laptop typed "6". Even when I hit the enter and backspace key. I returned to Best Buy and they gave me a new one. After a few weeks, the same thing happened. Best Buy backed their product and gave me back my money in the form of a gift card. I spoke to the sales guy and since I loved this laptop so much I bought it again, the sales guy found one manufactured in a different location and with a different batch number. Unfortunately within 12 days, it did the same thing. So three times I had this model malfunction. Best Buy gave me back my money and I did not buy a Lenovo again.

Failed hardware check right out of the box

When to the store with a specific computer in mind. It was a clearance model, but the salesman said he had a better one in mind that would work for me and what i needed - with all the current generation equipment. I purchased it and a printer. Got home, looked it up online and saw it had only a 3 star review overall. Was a bit worried, but opened it up and started up. Everything seemed to be going fine, a popup for a hardware scan came up and so i ran it - thinking it was a waste of time since the computer was brand new... it ended up not being a waste of time as the computer failed the hardware check. I packed it up and returned it.
I am very disappointed that I had to return it! The salesman said that it was a great laptop, gushed about it. Now I'm back where I started - without a laptop! Will get laptop that I was looking for originally, but won't go to back to Best Buy.
