Customers are positive about the ideacentre 300S's price, ease of use, performance, and compact size, finding it suitable for basic computing tasks. However, customers are negative about the motherboard, RAM, and hard drive reliability, with some experiencing failures shortly after purchase. The small form factor is a plus for many, but some users felt the included RAM and storage were insufficient. Issues with the cooling fan were also reported by a few users.

This was purchased as a system for basic tasks, for a business. It needed to run shipping software, which is not very demanding, and handle basic office tasks and web browsing.
It did this sufficiently, at best. It was often rather slow, despite not having much demand placed on it, but it at least got the job done. Until one day when it wouldn't boot, and required some fiddling. It started again - though we couldn't figure out why.
Now it's dead again, won't even try to boot up. The fan spins, but no lights, nothing. After a few hours of troubleshooting (I have significant experience in this), I'm giving up and ordering something more powerful that I can trust. If this gets running again, it'll be a backup only, and its use for even that is questionable.
Avoid this one, and spend a little more on something that won't frustrate you when it works and leave you hanging when it suddenly quits entirely.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s desktop. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. Start the system from completely turned off. Turn the system on, before the system boots, hit the F2 key repeatedly. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files.

The Lenovo was just what I was looking for, a computer for daily use, emails, pictures, music..... Easy to set up, small size....booted right up. Has taken some time getting used to Win 10. Be sure to use menu that comes up on left side. Only difficulty was figuring out how to open CD player (push chrome bar above door)....Would not have been a problem if I had read instructions, but them I'm a guy.

I bought this as an inexpensive replacement for a 10 year old Dell that finally decided not to boot. I didn't need a workhorse -- just something for light web and email use. But I needed it quick. And I needed Windows because my printer doesn't have Linux drivers. Unfortunately, Windows 10 makes this low-end hardware crawl. Installing Xubuntu Linux makes it boot and run faster, but not much faster. I think the 10 year old Dell with windows XP seemed faster than this machine.
Even my wife, who is not picky about what computer she uses, was frustrated to the point she has abandoned it in favor of a two year old Chromebook (much snappier, more portable, and energy efficient).
BTW: Windows 10 doesn't recognize Cannon's printer drivers, so that was a fail too.

Got this PC for my Daughter for school. It's no powerhouse, inst going to play games or crunch a lot of numbers BUT it 100% serves the purpose of why I got it.
I'm completely happy with it for the price.

Replaced a 10 year old desktop for office. Upgrades from old unit are significant . Works fine for what I needed which was a better base hardwired internet network. Processor is a little slow but does the job. Happy for the price point as I already have high end laptops.

Lenovo customer support is a nightmare

I purchased this computer February 2016 and it functioned adequately for 4 months. It failed June 2016, and I called Lenovo customer support. Lenovo customer support is an endless maze designed to infuriate and demoralize even the most patient mortal human. They had me mail the $270 computer to their repair depot where it still remains after 6+ weeks. I was promised a new replacement computer for my trouble. It will ship as soon as I reply to confirm my address and agree to the replacement option. The email was from a [email protected] address! No way to reply. Blatant stall tactic. It’s almost September, and no resolution. Do not buy any Lenovo product.

I've had this PC for about 2 months and have had no problems with it at all. The speed is satisfactory for what I do.....mainly browsing the internet,Facebook, email, and downloading and uploading photos and videos. And there's room for more RAM,which should take you where you want to go even faster. All told, the price was right and I'm satisfied.
