Customers praise the Ideapad 1's touchscreen, performance, ease of use, and battery life. Many appreciate its light weight, affordable price, and large screen size, along with the ample RAM and memory. I wanted a laptop for a few years now yet kept putting it off because I wanted to invest in a really good one but at a great price. So, with the concern of the cost of electronics going up in Jan 2025, I decided it's time and I bought this one on Black Friday for $419. It is an awesome computer! I wanted a Mac but could not see myself spending all that money, then needed to add a warranty because of the cost, and lastly have to worry too much about it possibly getting damaged. I focused on Ryzen 7 as being a must for a fast processor and the speed is power is amazing. This laptop is exactly what I wanted and needed! One of the features I really wanted was a touch screen! The keys do not light up but I don't like that feature because the glow is annoying and the screen shines on the silver body, so the keys are very easy to see. I love this silver body verses a dark color! Its a sleek, classy, light weight, powerful machine! I love the large 15.6' screen, sound is super clear, keys feel good, and there is a ton of features. I am very happy with this purchase!!

I purchased the Lenovo Ideapad laptop for my daughter to use when she heads off to college, and we couldn't be happier with the choice! The 15.6" Full HD touchscreen is vibrant and responsive, perfect for multitasking and interactive use. The Ryzen 7 5700U processor, combined with 16GB of memory and AMD Radeon graphics, ensures smooth performance whether she's studying, streaming, or tackling demanding projects. The 512GB SSD offers plenty of storage for her files, assignments, and applications while keeping everything fast and efficient. My daughter was thrilled when she received it and mentioned how ideal it is for her college needs. It's sleek, lightweight, and powerful. With everything you'd want in a laptop for both productivity and entertainment. If you're looking for a reliable and stylish device, this Lenovo Ideapad is an excellent choice.

I recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad 1, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! The Ryzen 7 5700U processor offers impressive speed and efficiency, making multitasking a breeze. Whether I'm working on a project, streaming videos, or browsing the web, everything runs smoothly. The 15.6" Full HD touchscreen is a real highlight — the clarity and responsiveness make it a joy to use. I appreciate the added convenience of touch functionality, especially when navigating apps or scrolling through documents. With 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, I have plenty of space for my files and applications, and everything loads quickly. The AMD Radeon graphics also deliver decent performance for casual gaming and multimedia, which is a nice bonus. Overall, I highly recommend the Lenovo Ideapad 1 for anyone looking for a stylish, high-performing laptop that offers great value for the price!

A Great Laptop if On Sale

I bought this laptop through an open box special for $426.00. If this laptop is on sale (usually for $479.99), then his laptop becomes the most value packed sub $500 laptop available. And trust me, I looked. If, however, the laptop is being sold for its regular price of $799.99, then the laptop is not a good value. Basically, if you buy this laptop, buy it when it's on sale. I will go through the hardware and its advantages/disadvantages. First, this computer comes with a Ryzen 7 5700U processor that has a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. For the sub $500 price range, the Ryzen 7 5700U is a great processor that is capable of high-end tasks. As far as performance goes, this is the most powerful part of this laptop. This processor has 8 cores and 16 threads. This makes this processor great for executing multiple tasks at once. If you are using this computer for school work, for office work, or surfing the internet, this processor is going to be awesome for you. This processor is suitable for gaming and video editing. Its one disadvantage is its low clock speed of 1.8 GHz; however, if the game is well optimized and allows you to use at least four cores, the clock speed becomes less of an issue. If, however, a game or video editing program doesn't allow you to use at least four cores, you may have trouble. How would this work in real terms? If you have a game that requires a duo (two) core processor with a minimum clock speed of 2.5 GHz, but the game is optimized to where you can use four cores, this laptop would still be able to run it even though its clock speed is 1.8 GHz because those four processors would be working together. If the game allows you to use all eight of your processor's cores (few games let you do this at the time of this review--a lot of them will let you use up to four to six cores), well, even better! Unfortunately, even though the processor, if given the chance to use its multiple cores, is a very capable processor, its capability to execute high-end tasks regarding gaming and video editing becomes somewhat irrelevant when we look at the rest of its hardware. The other hardware isn't bad, but rather, the other hardware isn't built for high-end gaming or high-end video editing. This laptop's next best performance hardware is its RAM. Most sub $500 laptops have 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM. This one, however, has a whopping 16 GB of RAM! The RAM itself is also pretty decent. It has a clock speed of 3200 MHz. This is not bad. I'd rate the clock speed as average. To give you an idea on where this falls on the RAM speed spectrum, the slowest speed that is rated as DDR4 RAM is 1600 MHz (Though you won't find many new computers with DDR4 RAM slower than 2133MHz). For gaming and intense video editing, a RAM clock speed of 3600 MHz is recommended, although, if you have a lot of RAM, 3200 MHz can get the job done. Fortunately, at least relative to the sub $500 price range, this laptop has a lot of RAM. The last performance part and the most limiting part of the performance hardware is the AMD Radeon graphics card. This is a basic integrated video card. It is not bad, but it is the most limiting part of this laptop when it comes to performance. This video card can handle basic games and light video editing. Fear not, because there is hope. One advantage this laptop does have is that it has plenty of RAM for its on-sale price point, and, if the poor little GPU is struggling, the RAM can help the GPU handle what is being thrown at it by the very capable Ryzen 7 processor. The 16 GB of RAM allows this GPU to punch above its weight class, but the RAM will only take the GPU so far. We have covered the three main performance components of this laptop so now I'll summarize its real-world capabilities. This laptop is more than powerful enough to handle tasks such as surfing the internet, watching videos, office work, and school work, If this is what you are going to use this laptop for, you are going to love it. The laptop is very fast with tasks such as these and you can easily do all of these tasks at once. Multitasking is where this laptop really excels. As for gaming and video editing, this laptop can do these tasks to an extent, but this laptop is not primarily designed with these tasks in mind. The video card is basic, and even though the Ryzen 7 is a capable processor, the GPU has to be able to handle what the Ryzen 7 throws at it. Well, this GPU is rather limited. It creates what we in the IT industry call a bottleneck. That is when the laptop is not able to fully take advantage of a computer part because another computer part (in this case, the graphics card/GPU) would not be able to handle what the other part (in this case, the processor/CPU) is capable of throwing at it. So, even if the processor can handle some higher end games and more resource intensive video software, the GPU in this laptop cannot handle such tasks. The RAM on this computer will help out the GPU to a degree (if the GPU is bogged down, the RAM will try to help it), but this still results in a reduced capability for video editing and gaming compared to what the Ryzen 7 could accomplish if paired with other higher-end hardware. What does this mean in real terms? In terms of gaming, this laptop can easily handle run games such as Minecraft, Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption 2, and it might be able to handle GTA 5 on low settings (You would need to use at least processor 6 cores--I am not sure if GTA 5 let's you do that or not). The best advice I can give is if you have a low frame rate, turn down the graphics settings. As for video editing, this laptop can handle light software. The key is using a software that does not require a lot of RAM. That way, if the GPU has trouble, the RAM can help it along. Any video editing software the requires more than 8 GB of RAM is not going to work very well on this laptop. Any that RECOMMENDS (not required) more than 8 GB will likely run on this laptop, but the program will run more slowly than it would on a higher-end computer. I do have one pet peeve with this laptop. The mouse pad is left of center. Seriously, Lenovo. Why? I keep accidently right clicking on the mouse pad when I'm trying to left click because the mouse pad is left of center instead of being in the center. And hasn't Lenovo thought about people who are like Death the Kid from Soul Eater? If asymmetrical designs bother you, the placement of this mousepad will drive you bananas. Luckily, I don't require perfect symmetry, but I do get annoyed by accidently pressing the wrong button on the mouse pad due to its unusual placement. In conclusion, I'll return to my original premise of this review. If this computer is on sale for less than $500 bucks, it is the most value-packed laptop you can find in that price range. Honestly, it's been a couple of days and I'm still exicted about the deal I got on his computer. It suits my needs perfectly and is more than capable of handling what I throw at it. I do sometimes play PokeMMO on this computer (If you are a Pokémon fan, check PokeMMO out!) and it has no problem with the game. Granted, the oldest ROM that PokeMMO uses was designed for a Game Boy Advanced. Can you find cheaper laptops? Yes. Wal-Mart has plenty of Windows laptops for under $300 bucks. They will work for some people, but these laptops would be significantly slower than the one that is being reviewed. Can you find a more capable laptop? Yes. For not much more than the normal price of this laptop (which is $799.99 at Best Buy), you can get a gaming laptop such as the HP Vindictus (if you do this, pay extra for the extra RAM. Otherwise, it isn't worth it). Of course, you're never going to see a new HP Vindictus on sale for under $500. Thus, this laptop gets five stars for the amount of value it brings to the table when it is on sale. This laptop meets a threshold that is above the happy medium between performance and price that most people's needs would fall under. If you can appreciate this laptop for what it was built for and you can also appreciate the pleasant surprises such as limited capability to video edit and game, you are going to absolutely love this laptop if it's on sale. Of course, if you need to be able to run most high-end video games or you do video editing with heavy-duty apps, the value you would get from his laptop is basically zero and you would be better off looking for a higher-end laptop. Just be prepared to spend more money if you decide to go that direction.

I put off getting a new laptop for a long time. The last one I bought was in 2015 (& it was not a Lenovo but I really liked it). When my old laptop quit seeing the internet connection at my sister's house as well as my significant other's house, it was time to cave in. My son (30) did the research for me & selected two Lenovos for me to choose from. I am ecstatic with the selection I made. Such a game-changer for me. I can now use the touch screen (didn't have one on my last laptop), the touchpad (other laptop touchpad stopped working b/c I used my wireless mouse all the time instead (so, needless to say, I didn't "exercise" it so it lost its usability)), battery life lasts quite a while (my old laptop had an external battery that just outright died & I continually had to have an outlet so I could plug in my laptop with a cord). This new Lenovo is so much lighter & thinner. No external battery (but also no CD drive like my old laptop, which, I will admit, I rarely used but do enjoy listening to my CDs every once in a while). I have since raved about Lenovo to others (friends & family). I hope this lasts me as long (or longer) than my other one. Whenever I do get another laptop, if Lenovo is still in business, it will definitely be a Lenovo (even my son said when he starts shopping for a new one, he'll be getting a Lenovo (he has his own business & is on his laptop all day, every day)). Best Buy made it easy to shop on-line & p/u in store (which I had not previously done through Best Buy before). Again, I'm so happy with my purchase & wish I switched sooner. Thanks so much for making a great product at a reasonable price (I even looked at the Navy Exchange for Lenovo (I'm retired Navy) but didn't see any) so even with paying the tax, price was definitely within reason.

I recently purchased the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 with a 15.6" Full HD touchscreen, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! The Ryzen 7 5700U processor offers impressive speed and performance, making multitasking a breeze—whether I’m working on documents, streaming videos, or even handling light gaming. The 16GB of memory ensures that I can run multiple applications simultaneously without any frustrating slowdowns. The AMD Radeon graphics provide vibrant visuals, which enhance my viewing experience for both entertainment and work-related tasks. The 512GB SSD gives me plenty of storage space for all my files and projects while ensuring fast boot and load times. One of my favorite features is the touchscreen capability. It makes navigating through apps and documents a more interactive experience, which I find especially useful for sketching ideas or browsing the web. The build quality is solid, and the Cloud Gray color gives it a modern and sleek look. Overall, this laptop strikes a fantastic balance between performance and portability. It feels reliable for my everyday needs, and I would highly recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 to anyone looking for a versatile and efficient laptop that delivers on speed and reliability!

Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB RAM provide lots of power and speed. Integrated graphics, but still fast. My Son can play all of his games, but he doesn't play major RPG games. A dedicated graphics card would help for the more power-hungry games, but that would add hundreds of $$ to the price. We got amazing Holiday Sale deal of $ 420 . 00 for this $ 799 . 00 laptop. 30 days in, and no issues.

The laptop is really good and gets the job done. I am using it manually for CAD programs and operateing 3D printers and laser engraves. I can have all my programs up and multi tabs and windows open witn no lag or slow down. I can't really speak on gaming on it but im sure it would do just fine. My only complaint is there is no keyboard light it wasn't a deal breaker for me but it would have been nice. Over all it is a great laptop with high performance. The battery life is pretty good and will charge from 5% to 100$ pretty quick. I would definitely recommend it 10/10

I bought a Lenovo Ideapad before for my granddaughter for school when they were home during COVID and it worked really well for her school logon and assignments. So when I saw this one with a little more memory I and on sale I figured I'd give it a try. So far I am pleased at it's performance. It runs really smooth and had all updates up and running within an hour! No it probably won't play the latest games out there, but that's not what I need I just need a fast computer to do my advanced work without all the lagging and it does that!

I bought another Levovo laptop because I liked the 1st one I had. As laptops go I've had different brands that have served the purpose and true, Lenovo also serves its purpose within my price range (i.e. the low end). What I like about my Lenovo laptop is the keyboard has the dark gray keys with white alpha/numerical letters/numbers, which although I’m old school and type by touch there are times when I need to look at the keyboard and it makes it much easier to see/read the letters/numbers vs the keyboards that are silver and it’s extremely difficult to read the letters/numbers. I MUST HAVE: the darker keyboard (as mentioned above), 10-key (makes bill pay day much easier not to have to pull out a calculator and juggle multiple technologies/devices), a light for the CAPS and NUM LOC keys to let me know if they’re on/off, 3 USB ports, an SSD slot and it’s nice to have the HDMI port for on that off the wall chance I’d need to connect my laptop to my TV (although I never have, but…). The screen size and overall size and weight of this model is quite convenient to use regardless if I’m at home or should I travel. I do wish manufacturers would include the CD feature. In years past when that was an option I enjoyed being able to play my music and not have to juggle using multiple devices or to have a CD player take up space on my desk or a countertop. As for the touch screen feature personally, because on a previous Lenovo laptop I had about 6 years ago due to user’s “OOPS” when moving my laptop my thumb slipped off of the frame around the screen and I left a thumb-sized print in the upper right corner which fractured the screen there and the roadmap of intricate technology it spread across the top ¼-inch of the screen. Still usable, but eventually I had to replace it. That being said, the option to use the touch screen or a mouse...I'll stick to using my mouse. I’ve had other brands of computers before/after that one and I’m glad I got another Lenovo laptop!!

I'm studying for my CCNA and my wife bought this for me so I don't have to sit at my work desk to study. I really like it. It's very spiffy! It's meant to be my workhorse and it handles my daily tasks very well. Pros: Light weight. Good battery life. Runs like a dream. I can even play some older games like Bioshock 2, Eve Online, AC Black Flag (I had to try it lol). My usual daily tasks are having multple browser tabs, using Google apps, video and audio playback like Youtube, Netflix, Spotify, etc. and Cisco packet tracer. Cons: Really can't think of much except that the charger is the old barrel shape and not USB C. **And the only reason why I bring this up is because I somehow lost my charger during vacation, but I'm absolutely drowning in USB C for all my other devices hah!**

Love the fast response and the clear imaging. Touchscreen adds an amazing aspect that I did not have before. Plenty of storage and quick interaction. Moves seamlessly from one program to another. No buffering issues with yhis system. Great price point on this product as well. Highly recommend.

So far great computer, Covers all the bases, perfect size not too big or small and capable of running applications without lag. Touch screen is really good and it feels like it was built to last. You won't go wrong with this laptop.
