Great Laptop, Windows 10s makes it useless

I needed a small ultra portable to travel with. One that doesn't cost too much in case it breaks or I loose it. This fit the bill perfectly. I have a 256 GB micro SD card that contains all my stuff and I simply switch it between computers. I don't have to sync anything or get stuff back and forth from the cloud. I like this little laptop a lot. I have other Lenovo computers and they have been good. Unfortunately, Windows 10s makes this machine absolutely worthless. I tried running some speed test and evaluation software on it...No Go. I tried 5 or 6 programs I usually use and the same thing. You can only use software that you download from the Microsoft Store. Most of the stuff I use (if not all) doesn't exist in the Microsoft Store. OK, I decided to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. I went to the store to find out that will cost me and additional $100. What if I pay $100 and then find out I don't like the machine, or it's too slow? I lose $100? If I'm going to pay that much, I'll just get one that works out of the box. It's a lot less risky.

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad 130S-11 laptop ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. As we were beginning the process of moving house which was going to be protracted, I thought his was probably a good time to get a laptop to fill the void of our desktop being in storage for 2-4 months. As I wanted an inexpensive unit to start with, I was looking at Lenovo model recommended for students. And to make the purchase better, it turned out to be on sale at Best Buy. It is more than meeting my needs and I am still exploring its capabilities.

Great computer for every day use

I used to be a person that would like to keep 20 tabs open at once and I am unable to do that with this computer. Now I limit my tabs but am still able to have 8 open without slowing the computer down. This is on display as a 10S but I changed the windows to 10. You are able to change from 10S to 10 but unable to go back. I need 10 because I needed to use Chrome.

A lenovo is always an impressive computer, but this particular product was not only conveniently priced but came with all the features that I was looking for. Not true here. I paid $129 for this laptop with a year of MSOffice, a $79 value. On top of that, it’s Lenovo quality. Add a little storage to this and you have little laptop or better yet, use MS OneDrive to store it all. You get tons of storage with OneDrive and you can access it on all your devices.
