Great Paper Weight

It won't let you download anything. You can download something until you die but it won't be available. Lenovo says your violating the security of the Microsoft Edge. You can only download content from the Microsoft store and nothing they have available meets what you will want. Plus popup ads occur all the time and it's loaded with Mcafee, supposedly. You can't even change screen settings, your screen shuts off after about 20 seconds and goes to screen saver. Your stuck with some squiggly line screen saver, you guessed it, won't let you download other screen savers either. The Best Buy associate never mentioned any of this when I bought the laptop. It won't let you download Google Chrome either. All in all, it's a paper weight! o.o

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. You can uninstall McAfee and use the free Windows Defender VPS that comes with Windows 10 or you can uninstall McAfee and then install your choice of any compatible 3rd party VPS. The key is to uninstall McAfee if you will not be using it, as there can only be one active VPS on the computer at a time. If you are experiencing slower boot times, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Office Word is glitchy and Outlook is slow. I use it only for work, but my older personal Acer laptop is much faster and easier to use.

Not ready for windows 10

Add that when the computer was set up it put my 6 year old daughter as the adult and I have to get her permission to download Google Chrome. Neither Best Buy nor Microsoft has been able to fix the problem. Add that I can't go into any program to update the owner and I have to say my utilization of the new laptop is disappointing. Hopefully I can live long enough to learn to use 10.

Originally, I wanted it, so I could stream shows instead of tv, but opted out of that when I saw how flimsy the cover is. It just wouldn't hold up for constant open and closing, so I use this laptop for my own personal work which I do once a week and went with a sturdier laptop for everyday use. Bottom line: it's a decent laptop, but I wouldn't buy it again, especially after hearing what sounded like a loose screw just a few days ago.

Thank goodness Geek squad assistance was available & able to determine the problem although it took over 20 minutes to get the so called safe mode off!

Many of the APPs are free. There is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 included as part of the Windows 10 operating system. In order to keep the program active after the trial period, you will need to purchase a product key. You will not need to download any additional software.
