For the price, the hardware is pretty solid. The battery life is overstated. And the worst aspect of this laptop has to be the speakers. If there's moderate noise around when you're using the speakers, the sound will get drowned out easily. If I wash dishes, the speakers are drowned out by running water. I would certainly opt for a different laptop with a smaller screen with louder speakers. But overall, not a bad laptoop.

After using for almost 8 hours a day the fan does run a bit towards the end but not so loud that it’s bothersome. Very light. Can’t beat the price.

Also it is very fast in the startup and shutdown. The draw back is that I can only run MS Approved software and there is software like a Bible app that I like that I cannot run unless I take it out of the security mode. (Cannot ever go back) Also it does not have a DVD player. My fault for not checking, just thought it would have one.

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Here is a link to information and instructions for switching from Windows 10 S-Mode to Windows 10 Home: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4456067/windows-10-switch-out-of-s-mode. Although there is no built in CD/DVD drive within this model, you can use an external, USB-based Windows 10 compatible CD/DVD drive with this laptop.

The screen size is great an the camera is good for zoom meetings and such.

I personally love that it has a fingerprint scanner, and I don't have to login with my passwords.

One thing that I have not been a fan of is the screen. It’s a fine screen, however, it’s not as clear as my wife’s surface pro. Granted, I shouldn’t compare the two because of how different they are but it’s a noticeable difference nonetheless. Everything else about the laptop is great. It has a large screen, the battery is not bad, and I can play games on it. In conclusion, this was a great buy and I am extremely glad I got it!

Great Choice

I'm a super light user. This is an excellent choice for a budget friendly basic laptop. Had it for a few weeks now and it's frozen on me a few times and I've had to hard boot it but came right up with no issue. I would recommend and have! Just as good as my HP that cost Twice as much

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17 Laptop, model number 81W2004AUS. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.
Super cool laptop

I did notice the Micro Trend Antivirus that BB gives you as a gift when you buy it, made it slower, so am on my way to uninstall it and going back to McAfee. It's look really nice (like more expensive), it's light, the screen is good quality, doesn't get hot when processing things in After Effects, for example, so, am overall super happy with this purchase.
