Customers love the Legion Pro 5i 16" Gaming Laptop's performance, graphics, and ample RAM and storage. Many appreciate the display and find the price reasonable for the specifications. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and the fan noise and heat generation are potential drawbacks for certain users. The weight may also be a concern for those who need a highly portable laptop.

Overall the laptop got the job done. Ran games no problem and high settings. Beside games its great for work or for those who video editing/photography. It just the stuff the run it. However its large, cab be on the heavier side, and if gaming does get hot and fan run loud.
I found myself using a fan pad just to keep it cool while gaming which does kinda of lock you down to a charging cable. With that said battery life is decent enough if not gaming. I wouldn't game without keeping plugged at all times during a session.
Good if you got the cash. Great if you can get it on sale or open box.

I bought this as a 'less portable' station, and it has worked well in that role. I replace my old desktop and laptop, and there are a few things that I really like about this model. The first is the keyboard is as close to a traditional layout on the keyboard as I've seen on a recent laptop. It has a full size inverted T, and a 10key with a very traditional layout. All of the important ports are at the back of the machine, allowing for a very efficient layout. I appreciate the space afforded with the 1600p display. It performs very well, and while it is loud under load, the sound lacks the grating/piercing pitches of other machines I've used.
On the other hand, I have found the wifi chipset to be lacking, with random drops and stutters when pulling down a lot of data- it has a full size ethernet port and I would recommend using it for large transfers. Expected with a machine for this size, but it is neither light nor compact, and the battery life is so-so. I appreciate that it has USC-PD as an option, but it can not pull the wattage needed to sustain heavy load from the port.
Overall, the designers made mostly the same tradeoffs I would choose. For linux users, be aware that the device is only mostly supported, via open source projects.

Powerful laptop with effective cooling. I use this for game development, so I value the extra memory and storage. Some gaming laptops are real lap scorchers, but not this. It's on the thick side, but that space is very well used for airflow.

This is my second Lenova laptop. The Legion Pro 5I with Intel 14th gen core I9 processor and 32 GB of memory is a powerhouse. I bought this for creating files / 3D rendering for my CNC machine. NOT Disappointed!! Great speed and plenty of storage with the 2TB hard drive. Lucky enough to catch it on sale and saved $200.00.

Absolutely love this laptop. Haven't done any gaming yet, but other things like productivity apps, photos, office products have been great. Very fast. A little on the heavy side and battery could last a bit longer, but I got on sale and open box. Very good price the performance.

Picked this up on sale and honestly, it’s been awesome. Super fast, runs everything I throw at it with no lag (games, editing, you name it). The screen looks great, and it stays pretty cool even when I’m pushing it hard.
Keyboard feels nice, build is solid, and the 2TB SSD means I don’t have to worry about storage for a while. I’d definitely recommend it if you're looking for a high-end gaming laptop. No complaints here.

Good Laptop. But dont expect from battery to last long. Usually the fan would come on and off in auto mode. Even if you run word or excel. Graphic in game will crash if the graphic mode is in normal. It must be on auto or on gaming mode. But compare to its price and specifications it worth it.

works perfectly and specs are decent. real world performance seems to be a little lacking compared to reviews and hardware specs, but is good enough for the price point.
my only complaints are battery life. 1hr even without the video card engaged. the other issue is under load the fans are LOUD, you can hear them from across the room.

Hi mharrell, thanks for choosing Lenovo! If you want take it step further to save battery past switching off the dGPU, you could take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even more power conservation. We're thrilled to hear that Legion Pro 5i works perfectly for you, and we really appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with us.

Amazing performance. 2x 1Tb hdds for reference. Removed Tobii eye tracker and Vantage still seems to work nicely. StarField looks great. Does run quite hot when gaming. But overall quite efficient, and the AI is kinda neat. Very happy.

Purchased for a college student needing high level processing. The unit is built like a tank. The display is excellent and the processors excellent too. Outperforms a Dell I paid more for. This design chose solidity over lightweight so it's a little heavy and the power supply is also big (by design). Lenovo gives you all they can for the money on this one, highly recommended as a general computer but I can't comment on the gaming side but the specs and cooling systems speak to functionality there.

It’s a little powerhouse, great for gaming and school work, sometimes works better then my pc lol. The only complaint is the rgb keyboard is pretty low quality, but everything else is great quality. If you don’t care about epic gamer rgb effects then it’s a solid choice!

I had a Razer gaming laptop before purchasing this Lenovo Legion and, although there were some issues, I was satisfied with my Razer.
My main qualms were that it couldn't handle too many programs or games running and recording or live streaming them at the same time without becoming extremely hot or slowing/freezing.
Lenovo is an established brand, but new to the gaming side, so I was nervous, but took a shot on their new gaming laptop endeavor.
It is FANTASTIC. Speedy, strong, powerful fans so it doesn't overheat, and can manage streaming.
HIGHLY recommend. Good job Lenovo!

Bought as a gift fot my husband and he absolutely loves it. He needed an upgrade as his older acer was on its final days. The graphics and high speed performance are top knotch, if your considering this laptop i would highly recommend it to any gamer. Way better than acer and some of those other brands. You get what you pay for here, its sleek, clean and operates super fast with amazing graphics.

Laptop has good speed. I don't use it for gaming, I use it with Adobe products like Photoshop. Some video editing as well. I did think it would be slightly faster, but for the money it is unbeatable. On a separate note, be careful with Best Buy sales people online. I was told in the chat that I could get a price match if the price went down during Black Friday. Sure enough, it did go on sale and when I went to the store to get the price match, I was told open box items don't qualify for that even though I showed them a screenshot and the email of the Best Buy sales associate telling me I could. They do lie to get a sale. I no longer trust Best Buy. I even spoke to a supervisor over the phone and didn't care to even send me a token gift card, just something to make up for the misinformation I was given. I paid $188 more than if I waited a few more days. I did not include this in the rating since that does not have to do with the laptop itself.

The laptop is a beast! It exceeded my expectations. It handles both games and workstation applications. The battery power is short, but with the draw it makes sense, and you can modify the power usage. All in all a great multipurpose machine and a great buy!

Performs fairly well overall. V-RAM could be more robust, as only 8GB seems bottleneck performance pretty hard and lock you out of some high resolution texture packs and more advanced graphics features. 32GB of RAM is a big bonus, and this machine may become my audio editing rig sooner rather than later as it runs ProTools better than my MacBook M1 Pro w/ 16GB of RAM, purchased at the same price point.
TL;DR - Decent gaming laptop with a good CPU and RAM upgrade that makes it an even better contender as a workstation for Audio or Video editing.
