The Legion Pro 7i is one of the best gaming laptops on the market, minus a few niggles. DISPLAY: The 16" 240hz OLED is one of the best I've seen or used, its inky blacks, almost 1000nit HDR performance, and near instant response time makes for one of the best gaming/viewing experiences I've ever used. KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD: The Legion offers the same Thinkpad style keyboard experience as its business and flagship laptops. The slightly concave smile shaped keys make for one of the best typing experiences this side of a Macbook. The trackpad is responsive and precise, but is of the plastic variety with a cheaper feel compare to the rest of the laptop. AUDIO: The four speaker system offers excellent audio for a laptop, it doesn't have the Soundscape of something like an Asus Zephyrus G14/16 or the Macbook Pro 16, but it's not too far off. BUILD: Mostly aluminum the lid is solid with little flex and the stamped aluminum keyboard is solid as well. THERMALS: Setting the laptop in its performance mode had CPU temps in the mid to high 80s (Celsius) with the GPU seldom hitting 80c during games. The 3 fan design paired with a Vapor Chamber made for a cool and quiet gaming experience. BATTERY: For gaming you're looking at 1-2 hours depending on how graphhicslly intensive the game is. As far as normal usage goes I was getting between 5-7 hours while on the web/docs/streaming music. While not Lunar lake, Zen 5 or Apple M series laptop battery life... For a gaming laptop this size it's about as good as it gets. There were very few cons on the device, but the few I had may be an issue. The backlight on my laptop stopped working behind several keys and while attempting to add storage, the metal heatsink cover over the ram and storage had one screw head snap and one stripped out. The metal these screws are made of seems to be pretty soft, so be careful removing the cover. I would highly recommend this laptop, but be aware of the issues I had. The backlight in the keyboard could have just been badluck, but the upgrade design requiring the removal of an additional heatsink cover to access storage and ram could be handled better next gen. Just look at the Strix G16/18 and Scar 16/18 from Asus with its toolless design.

Absolute beast of a laptop, using balanced mode in Lenovo software I run cyberpunk no frame generation, max settings with path tracing & modded with additional textures and get no frame skips. The ultimate 5080 laptop and it came with borderlands 4 & battlefield 6 on release. Got it on sale for 2775.00 at a retail price of $3000.00 +. This machine is amazing and Best Buy did great with the same day pickup. Couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase, it exceeds my expectations

This laptop is pretty beast. I use it for video editing and playing AAA games. When the workload is high for cpu & gpu it does not freeze and the cpu and gpu does not overheat, however it does get high in temps but lower temps then any other laptop i have owned. I bought a good cooling pad to keep temps really low under heavy loads when im pushing the laptop to the max & my average temps when doing so is cpu- 85c gpu-75 Btw Gamers, you get full raw 240 fps

An absolute beast of a laptop. The first gaming laptop I owned and bought with my hard working money and it’s totally worth it. Was trying to get RTX 5090 GPU but glad I did not, no need to spend more for better performance as RTX 5080 is more than enough for most games and is one of the highest for a gaming laptop. Not just the performance but the aesthetics of the build. Such a marvelous beast.

Amazing gaming machine. I actually use for portable gaming as well as my living room pc for gaming. Handles anything I throw at it and the fan noise is surprisingly tame for having a 400W power brick. The OLED is top tier!

Overall the machine is beautiful. I have had a problem with it sleeping then waking up to a fuzzyish screen but a restart fixes it. I think the on board intel graphics card is a dud. Just don't have the time to drive an hour and a half one way to get it looked at or exchanged. I have done, and kept up with all updates.

Let me explain. - this thing is bonkers. The processor does at 57 on performance, the you benefits from a 400w power supply, the build is insane, speakers are amazing, oled is punchy! Cooling is also fantastic. I hate when people buying gaming laptops say battery life sucks - it’s a GAMING laptop. That’s what they do. 20 year IT veteran and former geek squad manager here - this thing is nuts. Sleek. It’s my current daily driver and you can’t go better than this at this size and price. Beautiful unit.

Overall the laptop is very good. Upgrading (adding) RAM and SDD is very easy. The back side is a little bulky with the fan export, but needed due to the CPU/GPU. Noise levels are in line with this higher performance laptop. Really the main negative is around the weight. It is a bit heavy due to the higher type laptop, but the power brick (400w) adds a big increase to weight when carrying around in backpack. Also, I needed to buy a second power brick and they are harder to find only. Even Lenovo didn't sell one directly. I finally found one online and it was $250.

you can throw any game at it and it runs great! love the oled display too. only comes with one 1tb ssd but you can always upgrade that or use the 2nd SSD slot. Then you can upgrade the ram to 128gigs which is crazy to me but if you need that for some reason you can do it. If i had to complain about anything would be the battery life. if your not gaming and your using the integrated intel graphics and put everything to eco mode and turn all the lights off you can get a few hours out of it if need be but at the end of the day its a gaming laptop.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 (RTX 5080) – Honest Review Unboxing the Legion Pro 7 was pretty standard—nothing flashy about the packaging. But once opened, the laptop itself looked beautiful. The build quality impressed me immediately. The OLED screen? Stunning. It reminded me of the G16’s panel—so good that I didn’t even want to hook it up to my gaming monitor. I was content just using the display it came with. The speakers are solid. Not quite on par with the G16 or G14, but still miles ahead of most Windows laptops—especially MSI. Apple still leads in audio, but Lenovo did a decent job here. The Lenovo Vantage software is clean and simple. While it doesn’t quite match the functionality and polish of Asus's Armoury Crate, it’s definitely better than MSI’s cluttered software experience. Now for the drawbacks: No Thunderbolt 5 support – very disappointing for a flagship-level machine in 2025. Rear I/O relocation – Moving most ports from the rear to the sides feels like a step back for gamers who value desk cleanliness and cable management. No fingerprint sensor or Windows Hello – It’s a premium laptop, and being forced to enter a PIN every time feels like a regression. Maintenance quirks – Upgrading the SSD or RAM requires removing part of the vapor cooling system, which is tedious and risky. One screw almost stripped on me. If you're opening it up, use the right tools and be careful. On the plus side, battery life has been decent so far. The trackpad is responsive, and the keyboard feels great—good travel, not too loud. Personally, I prefer these softer keys over loud, clicky ones. Gaming performance? Flawless. The RTX 5080 handled everything I threw at it without breaking a sweat. Fans never got obnoxiously loud like they did on the MSI Raider 18 or even the Asus G16. Thermals stayed under control throughout my sessions. Also worth noting: the Gen 5 SSD slot (already populated with a Samsung drive) is blazing fast—rivaling even the 990 Pro I use in my desktop. Final Verdict: I wanted to love this laptop, and in many ways, I do. But Lenovo cut a few corners that matter—especially to gamers and power users. The missing Thunderbolt 5, port relocation, and lack of biometric login features hold it back from perfection. Score: 4/5 A strong performer with great build quality and display, but it’s missing just enough to keep it from being a top-tier,

      Hey Tone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

We wish to provide the best experience possible for our users in design, features and performance, and we appreciate your comments on these topics. To prioritize high-end performance while maximizing air exchange, we decided to move the rear ports to the sides of the laptop for larger venting and cooling components. If the ports remained in the rear along with the larger rear cooling components, the laptop would be significantly longer. Regarding, the latest I/O technology and biometric login options, and other design remarks, we will consider these points for future improvements.

It's literally a beast. No matter what I do, high end gaming, machine learning, editing, this laptop does it extremely well. Thermals have also been amazing for me. The keyboard is amazing with nice & punchy RGB lighting. I only wish Lenovo offered more things with Vantage, but it's not a deal breaker.. The only con that I've found is fingerprints on the surface, it's just too much.. And the positioning of headphone port on the right side is just dumb design. They could have gone with ports on the back like it was in Gen 9.

      Hey RahulM,

Thanks for choosing Lenovo and for sharing your feedback with us.

We are glad to read that the Legion Pro 7i is performing excellently and tackles whatever you throw at it. We appreciate you sharing your comments regarding the case material finish and port placement. Moving the ports away from the rear to the sides from 9th Gen to 10th Gen was done to accommodate the larger, improved cooling systems internally and if the port remained, this would have dramatically increased the length of the laptop, but this will be considered for future improvements.

Best laptop I’ve ever had. More than powerful enough to multitask, play any game, and run Virtual Machines. I set it up with 2 external 1440p monitors and works perfectly. Battery doesn’t last longer than 5 hours but that’s to be expected from a mobile workstation of this caliber, so not a knock.

I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i RTX 5080 and it’s one of the best gaming laptops I’ve ever had. When playing Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing turned on, the visuals are breathtaking ,reflections, lighting, shadows, the kind of immersion that feels like stepping into Night City. Thanks to DLSS (and especially the newer DLSS-4 / Multi-Frame Gen stuff), it manages to hit smooth frame rates even under heavy RT loads. Performance in Ultra settings is shockingly good. The screen is gorgeous: a 16-inch OLED QHD+ panel, extremely vibrant colors, fast 240Hz refresh, crisp response times. It elevates both gaming and media content beautifully. That said, there is one annoying quirk: sometimes the system will default to another display or switch to the internal (integrated) GPU instead of using the RTX 5080. You’ll notice lower performance or visuals until you dive into settings to re-assign the GPU or disable Optimus ensure the MUX switch is active. It’s not a deal breaker once you’ve tweaked it, the Legion delivers. But for out-of-the-box usage, that behavior can be frustrating. Overall, if you want top-tier gaming portability, this is about as good as it gets just expect to spend a few minutes configuring things correctly.

I ultimately returned the 5080 only because the 5090 had come down enough to justify stepping up to it and getting the extra Vram. Having tried multiple laptops including the G16 with 5070ti, and the Blade16 with 5080. I can confidently say that the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is the best option for a gaming laptop at any configuration that makes sense for your budget. If budget isn't and issue the 5080 and 5090 are high end desktop level performers when plugged into the 400W charger. While i would have prefered an AMD setup for gaming purposes the Ultra 9 275hx outperforms my Desktop 9800x3d by a wide margin. I dont particularly care as I am only really using this for gaming, but for those looking for a workhorse that can also game, you just cant go wrong and dollar for dollar there isnt a better option on the market right now. Battery life is what you should expect buying a desktop level powerhouse that can also be carried around, meaning if you expect it to be macbook, or surface level of battery you came in with the wrong expectations. You will get 5+ hours in eco on the road to ddo the tings you need to do, but you aren't gonna run a Triple A title without the laptop plugged in and thats true of all the ones i tested. Display - Was the best on nthe Lenovo of all the laptops I tested. Razer blade was a close second, but i prefer both those over the Zypherus. While its less portable than the blade or G16 it outperforms them both by a wide margin. You could get there with the blade but will require a laptop cooler to unlock the extra wattage, which mean on the road which is why you would buy a laptop with this much power you aren't going to get everything out of it. Do you need "everything" out of it, probably not, but to spend the extra $ and only be able to achieve that with extra hardware didn't make sense to me. Build quality isn't as good as the blade, but there isn't enough of difference IMO to say that i think it matters. You may feel differently but the slight edge to the blade again isn't worth the additional $. For those looking the Zypherus while a great machine s crazy underpowered even at the 5080 and 5090. The 5070TI i had was a great performer and I could see it being the right choice for someone super focused on price point and portability, but you cant extract everything out of the build you bought without voiding warranty and undervolting everything to try and squeeze the performance out. That wasnt a road i wanted to walk down, but if that sounds entertaining to you then check them out. If you are on the fence on the Legion 7i pro dont be, the 5080 or 5090 will absolutely chew up anything you throw at it, and its built to last, hands down the best $ to performance gaming laptop on the market right now.
