However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and the fan noise can be noticeable during gaming sessions.

It's a good little laptop, but for my applications 16GB of ram wasn't enough so I bought a 32GB sodimm kit and a 1tb NVME drive to upgrade it. So now I have the same ram speed, but with an extra 16GB of memory and 1.512TB of storage instead of just 512GB which is nice. The aftermarket ram and storage upgrades together cost less than $200 and are super easy to do so long as you have the correct size bits.
Anyway it runs really well, I do have a little stutter here when using more memory intensive applications but nothing too serious. Battery life is pretty good as well.
My only real gripe would be the trackpad, it seems to lag even after adjusting the sensitivity.

My old laptop was way past her prime and slowing down. So I decided to purchase this new Legion gaming laptop so I would once again have the edge on the other players. The laptop is super fast. Not fond of the fact it does not have a CD-ROM drive. But you can install an external USB CD ROM drive.

I had been looking for a powerful laptop for work when I stumbled on the Lenovo Legion Slim. I typically need something powerful for programming and the fact that it comes with an RTX 4060 is a great bonus. Most of the other laptops were severely underpowered in the ram area, but the Legion has 16GB and room for more down the line. I've run a few different games on it and the adjustable backlit keyboard comes in handy because it allows you to set up profiles. Overall it's a great laptop. My only ding is the 512 HD vs a 1TB drive.

This laptop worked fine for a year. It would get very hot while i used it, but that seemed normal for gaming laptops. It turns out it gets so hot that it managed to fry itself. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch this until it managed to permanently damage not only all of the usb connectivity on the laptop, but also the wireless dongle for my $150 mouse. An $1000 product not even lasting a year is absurd and now none of the laptop is usable since I can’t connect any usb devices. I recommend staying away from this device and all other lenovo laptops. My friend has a lenovo laptop that i borrowed after this broke and it left burn marks on me from how hot it got. That’s not even getting into the driver issues I had. The integrated graphics and dedicated gpu do not play nicely together and even on updated drivers, when connected to a monitor, the laptop is a stuttering mess and unusable for gaming. Battery life sucks even with the dedicated gpu not being used and the screen is ok for gaming, but has terrible color accuracy and is a low resolution for the size of this device.

I love my new computer, switching from a MAC, so I was worried the transition would be difficult. The speed is perfect for the projects I work on. The screen is much better than NY MAC.

This is literally the best computer I’ve had, I literally Live stream, Play Games, and use the Web at the same time and have not seen it slow down literally at all! Besides that I have tabs open like vscode and it does not miss. If “Bang for your buck” was in the dictionary this laptop would be the definition, no Xbox or PlayStation could compare, literally this laptop does not miss anything it has speed, graphics, and storage. What else do you need?

This is a great laptop for someone that needs the ability to run spreadsheets and occasionally game I do not game like other people so I will not speak to the merits of a dedicated gaming pc. This is a great laptop to allow people to have both a gaming laptop and a work computer for heavier computing power. The battery last much longer than advertised if you are using it for normal activities. Overall I am really happy that I picked this up at a good price.

Lenovo (in general):
Only one with builds and latest gen AMD Ryzen Laptop CPU/APU's thats NOT HP/Dell
Decent build, when on sale, a decent price
Lenovo (display):
Really happy to see 16:10 aspect ratio RETURN, HOWEVER, the brightness of almost the entire lineup of laptops from lenovo cap out at 300nits which is HORRIBLE for a laptop, let alone a "gaming capable" laptop, if the rest wasn't a great combo/deal I wouldn't have purchased it, 450-500nits should be the minimum.
nVidia:
The 4060 is pretty under powered and is actually smothered in the "slim" lineup configuration, even so, its still better then all my old laptops so I will take it for under $1000
AMD (in general): The 7640HS I have actually outdoes my 4800H and 5800H prior gen CPU's with its 2 less cores in most of the work loads I throw at it (to include a compile) that's impressive.
AMD (graphics): Here is where AMD really fouls up, must like first and second gen Ryzen laptop graphics, the drivers are a disaster, only from Lenovo dated the first quarter of the year, AND if you go to AMD's website and search for the drives it points you to the latest but when you try to install it says not compatible.
Its been confirmed they removed compatibility but never bothered to fix the website! Very annoying for a fresh reinstall.
Overall: Happy with the purchase, it was the right time, and the price war right.

I bought on sale for $800 and I'm overall happy with the laptop.
It was purchased for when I go out of town for work I had something to play. It will play just about anything on the highest settings in 1080p. I have a 4k home monitor but it doesn't bother me that it's in 1080p.
My biggest complaint is the built in Wifi is not very good or stable. When I run tests it will strart out at 200mbs but then will drop to 20mbs. I don't have that issue with any other devices in my house.

To try to resolve this, we recommend going into Lenovo Vantage on your Legion Slim 5 and selecting the "Check For Updates" button on the homepage and searching for whatever may be available for your system. You can also visit this Lenovo Support webpage for your Legion Slim (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/legion-series/legion-slim-5-16aph8/82y9/downloads) and applying the latest Wi-Fi drivers. Ive owned tbis laptop for a couple months and i game fairly hard on it and it handles all my games very well. Id your looking to play Call Of Duty on this laptop itll run it seemlessly. Im shre it can run a lot bigger games than just that. For the money, very worth it and the only con i can see is that theres not a whole lot of storege on it but thats fine because you can also upgrade the storge on it all you need to do is watch a youtube video and you can do it yourself at home with the right tools.

Lenovo Legions are usually always pretty great.
The keyboard is nice and has a satisfying clickyness to them and has the right amount of space in between keys that it does not feel crowded. The touchpad is serviceable. It not going to win awards, but it is large and doesn't make you wish you had a mouse when you do basic stuff online. Performance is great (for the price). The 4060 has a base 60W TDP according to CPU-Z, but the Legion software allows you to overclock it a bit. Fast DDR5 RAM is already installed (8x8), so its running in quad-channel out of the box. The 7640HS performs great for games. Cooling is great on this thing, it got loud underload/playing games; but it does not get as loud as the ASUS G16. Battery life is quite surprising despite the smaller size when compared to competitors, got around 4-7 hours on it.
BUT, the screen is just terrible. Colors are really washed out. Granted you can help alleviate it by tweaking the display settings in the AMD software app, but that can only do so much (especially for the reds). Due to my work, I needed something a bit more color accurate, so I had to return it.
All in all, I would recommend it when you are on a budget. When on sale, this laptop is great for those on a budget; since the screen is the only thing that is really holding it back. But if you need something with better color accuracy, the other Legion Slim 5 (the one with the Ryzen 7) is better since it also has the better and upgraded screen.
