Was very disappointed in this laptop 4 months in. It utilized a 1tb hard drive with a 16gb intel cache drive (basically a hybrid drive in two parts). Became very slow and unresponsive until factory reset. Removed the two drives, dropped a 1tb sata ssd in and worked good then. I paid about 1300 and in hindsight, that was about 500 bucks too much. 1050ti is decent video card, but was two generations old, hdd with ssd cache drive became unbearable. Gets very hot while gaming unless you elevate the rear, but that's kind of common on gaming laptops so I probably shouldn't be too hard on it for that.

I was in the market of replacing my 2011 Macbook pro. I knew I didn't want another expensive mac but I knew I wanted a spec heavy computer for a good price. Bring in Lenovo - Legion Y530. This thing has great specs, and a good size. I finally can game more than I had. This being said, there are a couple of flaws to the computer. This personally doesn't bother me, but it has bothered friends who have used it, the mouse isn't centered and the numbers are not in their normal position. They say that it messes with their muscle memory when typing, which it did with me at first but I got used to it. My biggest complaint for this system is that the battery life is scary bad. I have it setup as a base to two monitors in my office but when I unplug and take it on a trip, forget it. I can go maybe 3 or 4 hours on a charge. Overall great screen, great system and just a battery problem that isn't a problem as long you don't travel much with it.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion Y530 laptop. This model ships with a 3CELL 52.5WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. To maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. lenovo

Love my laptop, it has a great battery life and very lightweight which was something I was looking for. The only downside is the camera is at the bottom of the screen which makes it kind of hard to video chat.

If you are looking for a laptop that will have acceptable gaming performance and portability then this is the laptop for you. It’s design isn’t a stereotypical red flashy glowing looking gaming laptop which I personally like better and the keyboard feels just the right amount of sponge for my taste. If you are looking for top notch gaming performance on this laptop I use a 144hz gaming monitor which displays my games on a bigger screen and more smoother gameplay. The laptop display is a 60hz monitor which I personally like around 120 or more but I think it’s just fine hooking it up to an acceptable monitor. The fan is kind of loud so if you play games where you are near people it may become a little annoying but that’s expected with every gaming laptop. The ports on the back make it much better to use.

First impressions is that this is a solid machine for entry-level mobile gaming that works very well as a general-use laptop at the same time. The inevitable "cool" gamer aesthetic elements are very understated and tasteful and the machine performs well so long as you're not cranking the latest titles up to maximum settings. Runs a little hot at times, and the power supply begins to buzz like an aquarium pump when overtaxed, but neither to alarming levels. Webcam placement is a bit unusual (right at the hinge level) but I rarely use this feature and can't speak as to how this impacts practical use. Recommended so far.

Thank you for choosing the lenovo Legion Y530 laptop. Heat, the nemesis of gaming performance, is not a problem with the re-mastered Legion Y530. It features a dual-channel thermal system, offering multiple benefits: individual CPU and GPU cooling, for cooler system temperatures; four thermal vents, for improved airflow; and 70 individual fan blades per channel, to reduce system noise. Concerning the noise you hear from the AC adapter/charger when plugged in and under load, we recommend stop by your local Best Buy Store and have the Geek Squad examine the adapter to assure proper function. The web cam on the Legion Y530 is placed at the bottom of the screen, so the three outside bezels of the screen can be the absolute minimum size. Lenovo

I've been using this laptop for school, occasionally for gaming and it works well. I'm a clumsy person when it comes to literally anything you can break and haven't had any issues dropping it a few feet, only issues I have is that the charger isn't the best quality and it is an odd shape so I'm not sure how easy it is to replace, but so far it works fine, and the battery life is awful, if you plan on using this on the go a lot this may not be the best choice for you, but it's not too much of an issue for me. I had my doubts because the one I purchased was a display model, but overall it's a good laptop.

For a gaming laptop within the $1000 range, this has above average specifications. Going away with the conventional red-and-black accent, which is a plus. Build quality, even without metal or metal-like accents, feels durable. Hoping this would last for a couple more years, in which the components are swappable (ex. SSD, RAMs, etc.). Some issues include battery life, and camera is at the bottom of the screen rather than the conventional top of the screen. Overall, been using this for a couple of months and still loving it. Would definitely recommend this.

While This laptop if power packed I only give it 3 stars because the mechanical hard drive doesn’t allow the hardware to work to its fullest ability it makes games laggy and doesn’t allow the GPU and CPU to be fully utilized. I ended up swapping the hard drive out for a 1TB Samsung EVO ssd and swapped the 16gb intel optane for a 1TB SSD And it runs so much faster and is an amazing laptop the only other issue is have is the fans. The fan draw air from under the laptop and blow it out the sides of the laptop so if you don’t prop the laptop up you end up with the fans running full speed to pull enough air to keep it cool. These two issues while fixable they ended up costing me just as much as an Alienware laptop would have. There for in my option it only warrants three stars in my option.

The Lenovo Legion Y530 laptop, model number 81FV0002US ships with a standard 1TB, 7200 RPM hard drive, supported by 16GB of Intel Optane Memory, giving the high capacity standard hard drive the performance of a solid state drive. There's no need to replace the hard drive. Please keep in mind, This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. Heat, the nemesis of gaming performance, is not a problem with the re-mastered Legion Y530. The computer itself is good and fast. However, there is so much overhead apps preloaded, both from Microsoft and Lenovo, it bogs the processor and memory down sometimes. And this stuff is not easy to identify and even harder to try and shut off permanently or uninstall. Have yet to figure out how to shut down the MS firewall. I would be really nice if the customer had a choice of buying the computer barebones with just Windows 10. then we could download the apps we actually use.

My intent with this laptop was to be able to do heavy media files like Camera RAW, OMF, and do video editing through an NLE. It performs beyond the limitations I once was subjugated to. although its max resolution is 1080, it can handle 4k files. The Nvidia card is a dream; however, the CPU is not. Most of the time, my qualms are between the disk and CPU capping at startup, thus lagging the computer and none of it was allocated towards the memory.

This little guy is a workhorse. Besides having a fast current-generation (as of this review) Intel i7 processor, it's very customizable: its memory can be upgraded to 32GB (which I did), and its hard drive can be upgraded to a SSD or a NVMe M.2 drive...or both (which I also did). All in all, I'm extremely happy with the brand and the model.

For the price, this computer is incredibly strong and fast. On the gaming aspect, it can run high-demand games on high frames per second. It is quick to start and load. On the negatives though, there are only a few. It sometimes freezes, but that is fixed with a simple reset. It will have a tendency to overheat while playing extremely high demand games such as the Witcher and others, but for the price, I love this laptop.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion Y530 laptop. Windows 10 should not freeze. Be sure any games/software you install is compatible with Windows 10 and this device configuration. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up.
