Very fast, responsive, handles video editing and rendering and screen session recording and other resource intensive activities with no lag. Quiet and powerful dual fan exhaust, and an overall quiet but powerful laptop. Also, it opens flat (180 degrees) so I can put it in a vertical stand (I stand it up in an easel) next to another connected monitor so I can extend the display, saving me from having to buy an extra monitor. It also has quality keyboard keys with just enough spring and feedback. It has a stiff screen hinge and ridged display that keeps the display steady while traveling in a car on a bumpy road without flexing back and forth like other laptops I've tried. And finally I like the look of the laptop as it has the power of a gamer laptop, but looks more adult and serious and can be used at work settings. I very much love this laptop, and after a long search found what I was looking for. Lenovo did a good job with this. Thank you Lenovo.

I've been looking for a gaming laptop for let's say 6 months. I wanted fairly updated hardware. I sort of had a budget. I realized I was incredibly picky about keyboards. And displays. So, I really needed to make this decision hands-on. This machine caught my attention in two ways. The thin bezels make the most of the screen surface area -- I had no idea how important I'd come to find that. The screen hinge sits on top of the main case, rather than integrating into the rear edge: in addition to allowing for a 180-degree opening without overextending any mechanics, this provides a brilliant location to label the rear ports (power, display, network, USB). ...Also: it has rear ports! I'm not certain the system cools as well as I would've expected: it certainly cools enough, though. No real issues with bloatware. Windows Updates were a complete nightmare for the first day or so, but that seems to happen with certain OEM builds.

First gaming laptop and it runs any game I put on it including GTA5, PUBG, APEX Legends, and COD Modern Warfare. Only thing I wish is that it had a SSD or maybe even a hybrid, but then it would have cost more so I guess I can't compain too much. Good size computer, not too heavy. Feels quality.

I was looking for a cheaper low level gaming laptop for my wife. On paper, this laptop was perfect. Sturdy design, good amount of RAM and decent gaming GPU packed with an i7. Performance wise it would have been fine. The Issue? The screen. Absolutely terrible. Color accuracy is way off. Everything looks washed out and dull. It is a real shame, because other than that it's great. However, as a gaming laptop, that simply isn't acceptable. I had to return it and pay more for the MSI...

The Lenovo Legion Y530 is a sleek and slim budget gaming laptop with enough graphics power to play demanding games on lower settings. Lenovo

The laptop is flawless in performance, display quality, keyboard, hinge and physically pretty much everything else don’t get me wrong, but as with all gaming laptops the battery life is horrible. And after a year and a half of usage the battery life is down right pathetic now. From a full charge to 10% on balanced just streaming 720p twitch and doing other background tasks nets you about 1-1.5 hours of battery life... on the balanced performance and battery life setting... not too great. My Lenovo G570 from 2012 still outpaces this with 2-3 hours of battery life on the original 8 year old battery.

Pros . Intel Optane with 32GB . Nice backlit full key keyboard . Great dual cooling system . 6-core i7 8th generation . Gtx 1050ti graphics card . Great touchpad . 1TB drive Cons . Camera is on the bottom of the screen . HDD instead of SDD With a 16GB RAM, instead of the 8GB model, there is a lot to like about this Lenovo Legion Y530. The design is excellent: relatively light and thin for a gaming laptop, a great touch pad and a nice back-lit full key keyboard although you can’t change the color of the light. Because it uses an Intel i7 CPU and a GTX 1050ti GPU it does get hot but it has a great dual cooling system that can be adjusted via software. For everyday tasks, the battery lasts a little over 4 hours but I do not recommend to run games on batteries. In my experience, I had to connect it to power in about an hour after playing Battlefield but that is expected with a powerful laptop like this one. It does video editing well too but the battery charge won’t last for very long either. Again, this is expected and is the price you pay for such power. I noted a considerable difference in performance between this and the 8MB model in both gaming and video editing. And apparently, I had a few more minutes of battery time as well. My guess is that it is due to the extra RAM and the Intel Octane. Good IPS display. The plastic body doesn’t feel cheap. The speakers are above average. 802.11ac WiFi performs very well and it also comes with Ethernet, USB 3 and type C ports as well as HDMI and mini DP. It uses a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) instead of a Solid State Drive (SSD) but the built-in Intel Octane 32GB makes its performance somewhat similar to an SSD. Although my preference is for 32GB, 16 GB of RAM is a fairly good amount for most applications. Lastly, the camera is on the bottom, not the top of the screen. Not an issue for many people and not a deal breaker for me but it is not my preferred place for a camera. Overall, it is a great gaming laptop for gaming and for not-too-complex video editing. Unless you are a hard core gamer willing to spend at least twice as much, you can’t go wrong with this laptop. Highly recommended.

My first Lenovo had technical issues and had to be replaced. This second one seems to be working well. My only complaint is that the battery dies fairly fast so if you plan to take it where you go make sure you are able to plug it in to charge where you go.

At this price point, this is a great laptop but with some drawbacks. The fans are loud at maximum power and the keyboard gets warm to touch under high load. That is the expectation when buying a gaming laptop. It is not easy having powerful components in such a small form factor and expect it to run cool under load. The keyboard feel is the best in the gaming laptop category. The keyboard is also the reason, I took a star off. More specifically the number pad. The design of the number pad in my opinion is awkward. The number pad sits higher than usual which is very difficult to get used to if you are used to typing on a traditional number pad. If you can get used to the awkward number pad then you cannot beat this laptop in terms of performance and quality in this price range.

The arrow keys being fundamental to the gaming experience are placed in a quick access location, under the numeric 10-key pad on the Legion Y530's keyboard. lenovo

This is a great computer. I have evaluated and purchased a Dell G3, an Omen Hp, and this Lenovo. This Lenovo is the best and I love it. It does everything I needed it to do, which was my daily activities and some CAD. It performs perfectly. I love the feel of the keyboard, how snappy it performs with the 8750 chip and eveything about it....its great...I own several Lenovo laptops and love em all. Dell is pretty good, but Hp better take notice. btw I had 2 omens and they both died on me within 3 days. still a mystery. thanks all you guys over in China, the Lenovo is tops in my book.

The Lenovo Legion Y530 laptop ships with a 3CELL 52.5WH, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. To maximize battery life, first adjust your battery saver settings. Here is a link to instruction for doing this in Windows 10:  https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-use-configure-battery-saver-windows-10. Next, to maximize battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. Also, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. Finally, if the battery life does not improve, a battery reset may help.
