Although this isn't "true" AR; the holograms do not know about or interact with your environment, and the lightsaber tracking messes up frequently (although that's easily remedied with one button press), this product is incredibly fun and addictive for the whole family. Headset is a little heavy.

For the best viewing experience we recommend playing Star Wars Jedi Challenges in an open space without hard light. To rest the Lightsaber Controller tracking, turn the game on and with the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges headset on your head , line up the Lightsaber Controller vertically between your eyes about 12 inches away and press the black button on the Lightsaber controller.

I found one of these in stock at my local store and had to pick it up. Downloading the app and setting it up were straightforward (this does require a compatible smartphone). The headset and light saber controller are comfortable and relatively sturdy. I have had issues on and off with the whole AR environment "spinning", but I think this is coming from my phone, not the headset.
Give yourself plenty of space, and take on your favorite Star Wars baddies in virtual light saber duels. The "strategy" games are kind of fun, and the control feels surprisingly intuitive.
If you are a Star Wars fan and enjoy virtual/augmented reality games, give this one a try.

We are glad to hear that you are having fun with the Star Wars Jedi Challenges. There are multiple sensors in the smart phone, Lightsaber controller, tracking beacon and the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges headset that need to be synced together. This is best done by using the" app " to set up the system for the first time. For proper tracking please make sure the tracking beacon is at least 1.5m from where you will be playing.

My family got this for me for Christmas. I'm so glad they did because while I love using this stuff, it has also turned into a fun, family activity. We're all enjoying the new toy! Probably my only complaint is that the battery went low on the headset, and a clear indication didn't pop up. It just seemed to die. Maybe I missed something.
Otherwise, I think it's awesome.

Amazing! My family is not very tech-savvy. This was easy to set up and get going. The light saber hilt looks soooooooo good! This is a lot of fun for the whole family (we've had players from ages 5 to 40). You can play to unlock more and more. This was a fantastic birthday surprise for my husband (who is also a Wounded Warrior)!! Love! Love! Love! May the force be with you!

The graphics are fun and amazing. The game play is great. Of course light saber fights are the favored activity. Only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5- as mentioned in the other reviews some fine tuning could be used to improve the fit of the view screen and battery usage. The VR headset can be a bit heavy after a bit of wear. The battery also drains quickly and the phone gets pretty hot if you use the same phone.
As a solution we avoided long or extended game play to solve both of these issues. We awitched phones about every hour and this seemed to solve the battery and heat issue.

Thank you for your feedback. You may want to try re-adjusting the headset. The best way to adjust the Star Wars Jedi Challenges headset is to: place the unit on your head and then adjust the two side straps first. Then adjust the top strap until the headset is at a good height and feels comfortable to you. Some phones may experience an increase in temperature when running graphics found in apps such as Jedi Challenges, but our app is designed to safely operate within the established parameters of your supported phone to deliver a high quality gameplay experience with no harm to your phone. Well, it’s a very good idea and the image of the characters are great . BUT you need to use your phone in order to play it so you better put it in no disturb mode because if somebody call or text you it could be very frustrated because in order to answer the phone call or text it back you need to take out your cellphone from the helmet. In my opinion it’s better if you have some old cell phone to dedicated to this device. Another observation it’s that the cellphone gets very hot when you used in this , and I mean excessive hot! So if you have kids consider the idea of share your cellphone until they finish to play with this.

This is really a pretty cool item, since it is augmented reality (AR), it doesn't give the participant sea-sickness when using it. The graphics are really good, and who doesn't want to be in a real light saber battle!!? Looking forward to the App updates and more features, if they ever come out. It does drain your phone battery quite a bit, play-time is usually about an hour (Pixel) before the phone heats up too much to continue playing - which is good to reduce 'screen time'. It would be nice though if you could set up different users, for each player. If it exists, I haven't figured it out yet.

Being in the emerging technologies field, I have had the opportunity to test many different systems involving Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The Star Wars Challenges VR system is a great introduction to AR for those who don't want to sink $1,000+ in a VR system and a high-end PC.
This phone-based system takes the concept introduced to the public by the likes of Google Cardboard to the next level with the addition of a tracking beacon that orients the in-game graphics and your visual space to the real world, giving you a motion-sickness free experience that you soon lose yourself in.
The three different types of games you can play provide hours of entertainment, which include a chess-type game, a battle strategy game, and the one you will purchase this for, the light saber battles. They are all designed to cater to your activity level, allowing you to pull up a seat in the middle of the floor for a thinking game of Holochess, get down on the floor to move your live-action battle, or break into a sweat fighting the likes of two Crimson Guards as you slash, block, duck right, slide left and duck under their onslaught, as well as many other enemies including Droid Troops, Grand Inquisitors, and the dreaded Darth Vader.
In all, the cost of the system is worth the amount of entertainment you will receive, especially with some of the sales Best Buy has on the systems (I purchased mine at 50% off). At the discounted rates, and the recent release of a multi-player battle mode, It may be worth picking up two systems.
PROS:
- A wide variety of game play
- Very stable, so no worry about motion sickness
- The "hologram"-type graphics fit well to the plot, so you don't notice the resolution
- Portable; You could play it outside on a nice clear night!
- The developers are continually improving the gameplay
- Setup is easy no matter what phone you use
CONS:
- The AR headgear is front-heavy, reducing the play length of any one session
- Tested on seven different adults, and four children, and all wished the strap near the back of the head could be lower to help with the balance, but the design stops the strap at the top of the ears.
- While the battery life of the lightsaber and tracking beacon are long, the app puts high-demand on your phone, which causes much heat and will have your phone battery running low before anything else.
- There is no easy way to clear alerts or messages you may get on your phone during the game, so you have to disassemble the headgear to clear an alert. (I find putting it in airplane mode before playing reduces some of it, but the low-battery alert still has to be dealt with)

Augmented Reality Headset with Star Wars games

First, I tested this with a Samsung S7. Headset is a little heavy but considering that might limit your playing time matches up well with the comments I read about it heating up the phones. I played for about 30 minutes, phone was warm to the touch but about the same as when it is charging. Seeing game characters/game in the middle of my living room was funny but for a real treat, try it in a darkly lit room or as I did, outside facing towards trees and bushes. Adds something to the effect. Only done the lightsaber battles so far.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He’s a hard core Star Wars fan and I knew he would love this. I got this in Black Friday for $50 and I wouldn’t want to pay more than that personally. You get the headset, light saber hilt, and little sphere that gauges your movement. You need to use an app on your phone to play the game. You do this by putting your phone in the headset. Being that your own cell phone is needed to play this game I only gave it 4 stars. Overall it’s fun and gets you off the couch for a little bit.

We gave our kids the Jedi Challenge for Christmas yesterday. It was a HIT!!! A must for a Star Wars fan! It's a lot of fun and gives you a feel for being a real Jedi! The only down side I could see is that the VR headset makes your head sweat but that is a small price to pay for such a great experience.

One could use a spotter, but that is not necessary to play the game. It is fun to look into the headset while someone else is playing and see what they are experiencing. Star Wars: Jedi Challenges is designed to be played standing and in motion, within a recommended space of 1.5m-3m x 1.5m-3m, and a distance of at least 1.5m from the Tracking beacon. For the best experience, we recommend being able to move freely when playing.

Box and contents quality are very good
Manual is confusing at first but the iPhone app will help with any questions
3 different types of games : vr strategy chess , vr battle field . And really fun Jedi fuels that are quite challenging . Make sure your phone is 100% charged before you plug it in . Graphics are great for the price . Light saber quality is really good . Major minus would be lack of plug for headphones that makes this game a little lame if you have iPhones without the audio jack plug . You can’t use bluetooth since light saber is connected to it . Must have for star wars fan

We are glad to hear that you are having a lot of fun playing the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges. When setting up the system for the first time it is important that you let the "app" that is provided guide you through the entire set up process. This insures that the whole system will be synced correctly. A. Since the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges needs to be compatible with over 15 devices, we chose to allow the user to plug their headphones directly into the smartphone itself.
