They put the up arrow key where any touch typist expects the right shift key to be. I have long fingers yet cannot reach the right shift key without moving my hand. I would hit the up arrow instead of shift if I wasn't thinking about this unusual keyboard. That not only means I missed shift, I would then be typing in the wrong place after pressing the up key. Otherwise, it was a great laptop. The touch screen was nice and the hinges seem solid. The laptop is fast and the battery life was really good. If you don't do much typing or plan to use the touch screen mostly, this could be a great laptop. I thought I could adapt to the odd shift key placement, but I just couldn't get used to it. I decided to return it and get something else.

Hate, Hate, Hate the keyboard!! Lenovo decided to change the keyboard configuration (should be a law against such things :) I took typing in school, many years ago. Type "without looking", On right side of this keyboard, the shift key is smaller and has page up key to the right of it. When I go to hit shift key, I hit page up and the cursor goes up to the beginning of page, UGH! So frustrating I gave computer to my hubby, who is a "hunt & peck" typist. Went back to my old HP Pavilion - heavier but I can type without wanting to throw my computer against the wall.

This computer has been great so far. The abilities of doing things on it are quick and easy. I don't like that it has only two ports to use for printing, ubs sticks and wireless mouse. Great product but lacks the abilities I could use to make it an excellent computer.

Honestly it's just what I was looking for, great design, just the shift key, it was a really bad idea the keyboard design, everything else it's perfect :)

This laptop is a solid by for college students. I currently use mind for business minded functions like excel and just general web use.

I'm loving it!! I'm doing a lot of work on it and it's very helpful and handy.

I urgently needed a laptop for my class work and wanted a good laptop at the reasonable prize which can do daily tasks such as checking email, Microsoft word and powerpoint, internet browsing and can use Softwares like R and Matlab. I bought this laptop because I like the configuration and it was on discount, on above of which I got the student discount of 150$. As mentioned in earlier review right shift key is problematic but I have not faced any problem with fan yet. I read reviews before purchasing anything I knew the problem but still gave it a shot as it was on incredibly discounted prize with good configuration. So far expect shift key issue I have not faced any other problem. Battery backup is also great. I like the look of the laptop too.

I've loved this laptop since the day I opened it out of the box. It's fast, very lightweight, very responsive. The touch screen is very responsive as well. I haven't used the tablet mode as much, since I'm still getting used to it, but all in all it's great! The battery life is also very impressive too.

So far so good! This laptop is meeting all my expectations. Bought this for my wife and she just loves it. The touch pad is a bit of a pain for her but I've found that to be a problem (complaint) with all the newer laptops. The manufactures need to put in some extensive work on these things to make them more user friendly. Performance is good, graphics is find and the battery life is very good. Nice, thin & light. The only negative is the small SHIFT key on the right side of the keyboard.

My wife and I purchased this laptop for our daughter, who will be starting college this Fall. While our daughter's main concern was "how the keyboard feels when typing" and "the screen size," we were more concerned with the technical specs. The i5 processor wasn't my first choice, but getting a laptop without the i7 meant the price was about $150 less than otherwise comparable laptops with the i7 processor. For college, the i5 is plenty of processing power and worth the savings. We also weren't sure if the 256Gb SSD would be sufficient, so we bought her an external hard drive to store her non-college stuff -- music & videos mainly -- which eat up a lot of storage space. The first-time setup was quick and easy. We knew the laptop didn't come with Microsoft Office, but her college provides it for free online. We had Office installed 20 minutes after the initial boot-up, and Best Buy gave us a copy of anti-virus software for free as well -- which was also a breeze to install. We opted to add a password for her to login (done during initial setup), and now we feel safer about her using the laptop at college. The keyboard has a positive feedback and is enjoyable to use. The fit & finish is likewise very good, particularly the chrome bezel and the screen surround. The screen is nice and bright, and doesn't have a matte finish like older laptops we've had. We prefer the glossy screen better, but when used as a touch screen tablet, be prepared to clean the screen because of the fingerprints. We knew this going in, so not a negative -- just something to note. This is also the first 2-in-1 we've purchased and much prefer the ability to use it as a tablet as well, if for no other reason than you can't open the laptop too far and break a hinge. My only complaint is the sensitivity (or perhaps the size) of the glide pad. More than once, while typing on it, my hand will touch the edge of the glide pad and move the cursor, interrupting my typing. I'm sure there has to be a way to adjust it, but I haven't found it yet. Still, that's my only complaint so far. All in all, it is an excellent value, and our daughter loves it. We compared it to similar laptops by HP, Asus, Microsoft, Acer, and Dell, but after reading reviews, comparing specs & prices, and the very important "how does the keyboard feel" test, we went with the Lenovo. So far, we, and most importantly our daughter, are very happy with it.

Great laptop. Had a MAC (which I loved(, but did not want to fork out $1k for a new one. Got this on sale, flips into a tablet. The solid state drive makes it run very fast. Not fond of the new Windows (because I don't know it), but other than that, it's a great laptop!

I haven't had a new computer in 8 years so I was a little hesitant when it came to finding a new one. I reviewed several sites and brands. Ultimately, I found this computer in the store and played with it. Initially, I wasn't excited about Windows 10, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. I didn't want touchscreen, but now I love it! The computer is fast! It comes with a web cam which I needed for my Master's program classes. It doesn't come with a CD/DVD player, but those are cheap and easy to buy. I was really impressed with the computer. I do not like the mouse on the computer though. I keep zooming in and out somehow and it gets really annoying. Otherwise, I'm loving it!

I bought this computer for pharmacy school because we needed a computer to take tests on. My previous one was old and slow. This computer is fast and lightweight, has great screen graphics and the touchscreen works really well.

This laptop was a perfect upgrade for my mother. She previously had an HP laptop that was almost 10 years old. Being an IT Technician, I decided to buy the "open box" and figured I could restore the laptop to factory defaults if needed. It was good to go right out of the box and I didn't have to do anything. As for my mom actually using it, let's just say the user needs a little more training to gain anywhere close to the full potential of this laptop. However she loves the almost instant startup and the very short delay from pushing the power button to surfing the web. The touch screen is a great addition to allow her to use the laptop like she uses her iPad. Overall Lenovo did a great job combining price, power, and usability into this laptop.

Had everything i wanted in a laptop. The flex was great for watching movies. 2 in 1 great for touchscreen. Fast. User friendly. Love love love this laptop.

I read all of the reviews before buying, I knew about the shift key issue. I bought the laptop over a month ago and I've already almost gotten used to it and don't make shift errors anymore. I bet within another month I won't even notice it anymore. What I really love is that the specs are lower than my old laptop and yet this thing runs faster than the old one did even when it was new. I use it for school and my boyfriend uses it often also and we haven't had any problem running any of the software needed for exam taking and whatnot. So, great laptop.

In the ~2 weeks that I had this laptop, its performance impressed me. I thought that this laptop would be a good investment after my Macbook broke down on me. HOWEVER, within the two weeks that I bought this, the bottom right part of my screen and laptop hinge randomly BROKE while I was closing it. Given that I am a college student and that this happened just before my first round of midterms (on top of the failed transfer of my important OneNote lecture notes), this threw me into a very very stressful laptop-less predicament for the rest of the quarter. and I couldn't afford to shell out for another laptop after paying for this... I sent the laptop to be repaired first through GeekSquad, then received it back and shipped it to Lenovo instead. Both GeekSquad and Lenovo did not see this damage as a manufacturing error and charged me, but Lenovo's price was more reasonable than GeekSquad. NOTE: I didn't buy the GeekSquad protection, and if you don't buy it then I advise that you sent it to the Lenovo company - they'll charge you less for repairs. I eventually argued enough with Lenovo and managed to have them offer me a replacement laptop, but had I known this would happen in the beginning then I wouldn't have opted for a 2-in-1 laptop; perhaps something else from Lenovo, but not this. It would've saved me the stress and poor performance that I had this quarter. As I am writing this, I am waiting for my replacement laptop to be shipped to me. I'm not letting the < 2 month repair affect my rating, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm upset about how this was handled. I'm sure this laptop is great, and if I have the change to update this after a successful quarter without having it break on me again then I'll give it the praise it deserves because I'll have more time to know and operate it better.

This is a great portable laptop, very light but not too small with very decent battery life. Touch screen, keyboard, and rest of the things work really well. One problem is you have to press power button really hard to switch it on or wake it up from sleep mode. I don't know why Lenovo designed it like this as this can be very annoying sometimes. As other reviewers mentioned second shift key is small and can be an issue for some users. Apart from this, it is a great machine.

Really good computer, I’m a college student taking all kinds of different classes that cause me to use my laptop and it’s prefect for all of my needs, fast, convenient, reliable, easy to use

I went to Best Buy to only do some window shopping and I saw this beauty. It was on a good sale, and my last laptop was breaking down so I couldn't pass the chance up. I know it seems impulsive, but the laptop had to be ordered in anyways. While waiting I did a lot of research on the laptop and how it compared to other laptops. I was pretty impressed with what i saw. I even focused on the negative reviews which were limited. I have had the laptop for 5 days now and I am simply amazed. It is extremely quiet and so thin. Battery life is great, went a whole work day (7 hours) not needing to charge it. Best features for me is the screen and how amazing the videos look. I am also digging the whole yoga feature, I honestly thought i wouldn't take advantage but i was wrong. The only thing that I am getting used to is the right shift key. It is not a problem, It will just take some time. Overall, I recommend this laptop to anyone. More importantly, college students should have one. Perfect to set up in class for notes or viewing power points, videos, etc.
