Great for school work and casual gaming

I walked into Best Buy to buy a new Surface or something with similar specs under $800. I wanted a Surface because it's what I've been using for years and I know that they are great for school work and casual gaming. However, with a typecover and other accessories, I was looking at spending over $1k..I don't know what I was thinking but this was not an option. Especially during these hard times.
I also love The Sims 4 and every once in a while I'll record my game-play. The Best Buy employee who assisted me was very knowledgeable and attentive to my needs and recommended this gem. I was a little hesitant because I've been playing the Sims for years and it's very rare when I find a PC that is not only good for school but can also smoothly run the game.
I'm so glad I listened to the Best Buy associate because not only was he right but moving forward, I think I will always buy a Lenovo Yoga! I spent less and it's pretty amazing.
So far, this computer packs a lot of power and it's running great! It feels and looks like a premium PC. It has a beautiful bright display and the keys on the keyboard are not so tight together making it a breeze to type up documents such as cover letters and resumes. I never have issues multi-tasking. The yoga can handle multiple tabs with different videos, while running programs like Word, Teams, Outlook, and Skype. When recording my game-play with OBS studio, there is NO LAG! Of course, if you use OBS and buy this PC, I strongly suggest you customize your settings in OBS as you should always do.
This was an affordable option and I feel blessed that it is of great quality because I feel as though I'm getting so much value for the money spent! I'm confident that I will excel in my second semester of my RN program with the help of this device.
Thanks Best Buy. Hope this helps! :)

Good at first, then had several problems connecting to the internet. This is supposed to be my college laptop.. not reliable, whatsoever. Yes, it is a light and beautiful laptop, which is fast when it works, but the amount of troubles I’ve had with this laptop is INSANE. I’ve had it worked on by Lenovo, and a week later had the same issue.. I wish I could return this, but unfortunately I can’t because Best Buy only returns after a month, and I’ve had this for about 3 months. If it didn’t have so many issues, this would be the best laptop, sadly. I have to use an Ethernet adapter to get online, when it doesn’t have an Ethernet input.

This is the second computer I purchased from Best Buy. Based on my first experience with Best Buy, my computer is a good quality product. This buying is experience was different, because I made an on-line purchase; due to the pandemic. I did not receive the hands-on customer service. Which was beneficial for my first computer purchase from Best Buy. I like the computer, especially the touch screen feature. In fact, I am typing this message on my new computer.

Overall I love the computer and all of its features like the backlit keyboard, how solid it is, and the screen size and resolution. Except that so far I have not been able to use it properly on 2 occasions now.... the first time my sound stopped working and I went to update windows to see if that was the issue because that's what Google said to try and The update completely crashed my 6 month old barely used computer. I ended up sending it back to lenovo and they fixed it up for me and it had been working just fine. Until now, another windows update and now it crashed my intel wifi driver and can't get online anymore. So at this point I'm not sure who to blame. Windows for making sh*ty updates? Or lenovo for making a computer that is not compatible with those windows updates? I'm getting frustrated because I've barely even used the thing and I'm already seeking support once again for this computer.
Also for those with a problem with the webcam...... There is a small cover over the lens. Move that over and Viola. (Yes I thought it wasnt working too until I realized the cover was there)

Hello, we are sorry to hear you are having problems with your Lenovo Yoga C740. Try downloading and running the intel driver assistant program. It's possible you are running an older intel Wi-Fi driver that is incompatible with your current version of Windows 10. Here is the link. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28425/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant We also recommend checking to see if you have the latest system device driver and bios updates installed. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan” In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

Great laptop! I recently decided to upgrade from my old Dell, and this computer has not disappointed yet. It has a lot of features for the price and is super fast. I only use my laptop for email, web surfing, Microsoft Office Suite, very basic photo editing, and a few online games here and there. I was disappointed that Best Buy didn't seem to carry any accessories for it, like the pen or screen protectors, especially since you can use this as a tablet. I purchased the pen directly from Lenovo that functions flawlessly. I also managed to find a perfect fitting screen protector and cover to keep my purchase protected. The screen is crisp, love that I finally have a backlit keyboard, and the charging is super quick. If I really had to nitpick, the camera isn't spectacular, the privacy shutter is a little difficult to slide, and I am not used to not having the right hand side number pad (although this is smaller laptop than my previous ones). Overall, this is still a 5-star laptop in my book.

The laptop is amazing. But I would like to tell bestbuy to be more cautious about the packaging. There was no cushioning around the main laptop box. It was sent in the laptop original box and it was dented I was glad to see that my laptop was not broken.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-14. It is possible that resetting your computer back to original factory settings will fix the issue you are having. Since the computer will no longer boot normally, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom right side of the device, right near the top right corner of the cooling vent on the bottom of the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have the computer reset, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

I do love my Lenovo. Especially the table view. When doing a recipe the stand alone feature is great. Will ask you if you want tablet mode. One thing. If amazon is turned on, when you are on another site, she pops up with their say. Lol. Kinda irritating.

I currently own 3 Lenovo Laptops. They are all used in my medical office. As a physician I needed something reliable, lightweight, portable and most importantly, all day battery life. We have had battery issues with this specific laptop from the onset. We should have returned the item, but with Covid, and the shutdown we missed the return window. I took the laptop in to bestbuy to send it out to Lenovo for a replacement battery as it is still under the manufacturers 1 yr warranty. I just got it back from Lenovo yesterday, and nothing has changed. My battery is completely drained with light use under 3.5 hours (9.5 hours less usage than specified). I have loved all of my other Lenovo laptops, but this one is a paperweight. Very frustrated that the product had issues initially, and continues to have issued after it was sent back to lenovo for battery replacement. For $800, I expected much better.

The Lenovo Yoga C740-14 model number 81TC000JUS, ships with a 4CELL_51WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 13 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, First, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. This laptop has a serious issue. After using it for a couple of months, one day I just opened the lid and heard a sound. One of the hinges broke just like that!!! A search on the internet showed that there are numerous complaints about this problem.
The overall performance of this laptop is good, but regarding the fact that this supposed to be a 2-in-1 one, the quality is poor.

Well built, modern styled. Awesome battery on par with efficient chromebooks and expensive 2 in 1s like the XPS or LG gram. Easily get over 10 hours on a charge with “medium” display settings and responsible location based and background app settings. Got this one on sale for $650 but the $800 full price is still very competitive to its peers with its updates and performance. Responsive and nice touch screen.
