Defective Motherboard & USB Board after 9 months

Purchased this in March 25 after we'd had a fire and in Dec. 25 it crashed. (screen went black, would not restart). After initial checks by the local Geek Squad (shout out to Rachel who was AWESOME) this was sent to the Geek Squad Service Center in Louisville. LONG story short it was determined the Motherboard was defective. As it was under warranty parts had to be sent from Lenovo. Once that was received and installed they determined the USB Board was defective as well so now that part had to be sent from Lenovo as well. Yes it was covered under warranty but it was frustrating, difficult & took 3 1/2 weeks to get my laptop back at a time when we were moving back into our house after 9 months and I was managing all the fire replacements on my laptop. It would have been longer without Lesley's help at the Geek Squad Service Center. She was FANTASTIC, calling with updates and following up to expedite the process when she could. A bad Motherboard and a bad USB Board after 9 months is not what I expected from Lenovo. Added alot of stress and difficulty to an already difficult situation. Reliability is crucial in a laptop. When the time comes to replace I will be looking at other options.

I looked on the sales floor model for the vram and it showed 9 GB, but what I got was 8 GB when i looked at the device I went home with. No biggie because i was only using this for school, but felt kinda fooled by that. The bigger issue was some drivers that are installed weren't working so I had to roll back the update then reinstall the update. First it was the WiFi, then the bluetooth. Really expected more out of a Lenovo product.

Well it was both of those but power waswaning in keeping a number of sites open. Tended to hesitate when downloading. Easily would slow down with even 4-5 sites open with receiving "wait or cancel" messages. Also my hub (which works fine on other computer) had trouble connecting my other devices. Here I have it and $1200 poorer. Maybe a gift in a few months for a grandchild.

NOT PEN COMPATIBLE

He was heading to college this fall as a finance major . Unfortunately the sales member didn't point out the slim model isn't compatible with a pen to make critical notes for many math laden classes . Unfortunately he didn't use the computer for note taking and writing notes until this week at school . So we are out of the Best Buy warranty time frame to return . Heard great things of the Lenovo yoga laptop but the slim is not a choice for those that need to use a stylus! Verified all this info today with customer service at Lenovo .

To start, the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition features a camera E-shutter that can be activated on the right side of the computer to cut power to the camera for privacy purposes. If this is switched on, you will see a red indicator if activated and a pop-up graphic on the screen of your computer that shows a camera symbol with a line through it if the camera has been digitally deactivated.
If the switch is off, yet your camera is not functioning, we recommend checking for updates through Windows Update settings and Lenovo Vantage. To navigate to Windows updates, select start on the taskbar (windows logo) or press the windows key on the keyboard then select Settings. In Settings, select Windows Update, and then select the "Check for updates" button. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required. If you didn’t have any updates that required a restart, it’s still a good idea to restart your device to make sure any pending updates are installed.
Additionally, check for updates in the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled on Windows devices. You can check by opening the app, navigating to the device tab, and selecting the “check for updates” option. If there are updates to install, follow the onscreen directions to finalize those updates. If your issues persist after these steps, we then recommend reaching out to Lenovo Support at this number: 877-453-6686, for more in-depth troubleshooting.

Open Box was too aggressive in wiping it clean!

However, this one was marked as excellent and including none of the original instructions. Most importantly they had completely wiped it and had not re-installed drivers for the touchpad, the touchscreen, or WiFi! Since "connect to the internet" is the 3rd question when starting Windows, this basically bricked it since we were using the single USB port for a mouse. Thankfully, the return process was no problem and we ended up ordering a brand new one. Please do better on Open Box items KY BestBuy!
