Jean Reno classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie is a classic, hands down. Watching again as an adult, it brings back fond memories. The soundtrack during the film is suspenseful, same composer for “The Fifth Element”? *Now to a big problem: this item clearly states “ Léon: The Professional [Includes Digital Copy] [Blu-ray] [1994]” yet there’s no digital copy code. After chatting with BB rep, their solution was to take it to the store and exchange it. Problem is that it’s not available in any store within 250 miles. Unless I wanna fork over $25 for the 4K version. I’m going to return this to the store and re-order another to confirm.

One of the most unique stories, love the actors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No Ten Stars.... This is a favorate of mine, I first saw it in 1994 in the theater. It's a bit of a qurky story, but I love the NY settings, and all the actors do a bang up job. I think Gary Oldman really stands out as a bad guy, a corrupt NY detective on a murder spree. So it flips the good guy, bad guy story upside down. With the mob hitman being decent guy who takes care of a wafe after the bad guys kill off her family. Natalie Portman is excellent as the young wafe, and Jen Reno plays "Leon, The Professional". The director Luc Bresson does a fine job telling this story. So what are you waiting for, go out an get this movie, plus it looks greater than ever in this 4K version! I own all the previous versions but this looks and sound the best.

Great Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is really a must see movie. The quality of the blu-ray is what one would expect and I felt they did a great job with the picture and sound. The story of The Professional is one that is very moving. Without providing any spoilers, I will say that at the heart of the movie is the interactions of a professional hit man and a young girl. Their interactions are both funny and serious. In my opinion, this is one of Natalie Portman's best works. It's amazing that she performed the acting at such a young age. This is not a violence-centered movie, although there is some violence. This movie is about relationships when you get down to it. And the relationship between Leon and Matilda is reminiscent of an older brother and his younger sister. Leon the Professional is a great movie, it's a classic!

Great movie, now in 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie itself is a great balance of a thriller and action movie rolled up into one. The story is of a hitman with a conscience who makes choices to take in a neighbor to try to be a mentor while playing out a dangerous set of circumstances for both of them. Jean Reno plays his part very well as well as Natalie Portman doing great for one of her first roles in acting. The antagonist, played by Gary Oldman, equally adds his flair to his character and you'll either love or loathe him as a villain. Seeing it in 4K, given that this movie was recorded in the 90's, still looks great if not better with the higher resolution. A surviving classic. Recommended.

Highly recommend
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my all time favorite movies, the extended version makes this movie even MORE enjoyable. It also fills in a few of the blanks that I always wondered about, especially the relationship between Leon and Mathilda. The extended version takes over where the theatrical version leaves off and helps to define and articulate that relationship in ways I had only guessed at. At such a young age, Natalie Portman's acting was simply amazing, as was Jean Reno's. Of course, Reno is a highly acclaimed actor giving a performance that one would expect from him. But Portman? I never would have guessed that at 13-years old, she was such a great actress. Simply astounding.

Real 4K restoration to show off your system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First introduced in the US as The Professional an excellent Luc Besson action movie regarding a hit man or "cleaner" who befriended a young Natalie Portman. The violence was fine for American audiences but the producers did not feel we were ready for any romantic inferences. Later the uncut version LEON was put out on blu-ray. Then the movie received a 4K restoration and was re-issued on blu-ray. Finally a real 4K UltraHD disc was released and is it a stunner. While the subject matter may not be for everyone, those who have it in their collection may want to upgrade to this version. Both theatrical and the unrated versions are on the 4K disc.

Excellent movie, both theatrical and extended cuts
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw The Professional in the theater when it came out and loved it. I always wanted to add it to my collection. Saw this version on Blu-ray and had to have it. Plus I was able to pay for most of it with reward certificates. Comes with the theatrical and extended cuts, as well as extra features. Also includes digital copies of both the theatrical and extended versions. Depending on your streaming service, it might just show the theatrical version. Well worth the money!

One of the Best Hitman Films of All Time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Leon the Professional is one of the best hitman films of all time! The acting by the three leads is perfect. While I could comment further on the film enough has been written about it's greatness that you can read. I would prefer to offer my comments on the Blu Ray itself. First and most important, BOTH versions of the film are included on the Blu-Ray (the original US Theatrical Version AND the extended International Version). The other special features seem to be lifted from previous DVD versions with one new fact track on the extended version. The picture and sound are an upgrade from the DVD version, but no new remastering of picture and sound. There is a DTS sound mix.

Always trust a Sony UHD!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can say plenty of negative things about Sony, but their back catalogue department is THE BEST in the biz as far as remasters and restorations go, and this has benefited their back catalogue UHD releases greatly. This is another film they've upgraded that features Gary Oldman in his all to the wall 90's prime. The UHD looks truly filmic, with just the right touch of HDR, and it has a very filmic look and feel to it that comes across completely organically. The Dolby Atmos remix will rock your home sound system, in particularly the firelight sequences benefit.

Excellent movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Leon The Professional is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Natalie Portman and Jean Reno have amazing chemistry on screen that borderlines between creepy and innocent. Sometimes i have to remind myself that Natalie is just a kid because she plays this role like an adult. This movie will have you cheering and crying. Gary Oldman is the bad guy that you love to hate. This steelbook is beautiful. This edition includes 24 minutes of footage that was cut out of the theatrical release. Plenty of extras on the disc as well. If you haven't seen this movie, then you're in for a treat. Yes, it's pretty violent too, so beware.

Great packaging for a cult classic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have revisited Leon The Professional a couple of times since seeing it on DVD years after release, and enjoyed it every time. Great way to launch Natalie Portman's career, and Jean Reno and Gary Oldman delivered some of their best characters here under Luc Besson's great direction blending a revenge action movie, with some great character moments between Leon and Mathilda. I was glad to see this gem of a movie getting a nice steelbook treatment from Best Buy, and I happened to notice it on a killer Black Friday deal. It was a no brainer, and along with a couple others, I immediately ordered and love it!

Excellent HD transfer of modern 'classic'
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The film itself is about a hitman named Leon who both teams up with and tries to protect Matilda, played by a young Natalie Portman (12!) in her film debut. Great action as well as some tenderness as the 2 leads develop a strong bond. Also the ever-reliable Gary Oldman plays one of his best maniacs as the music loving loving villain who shoots people to the beat of whatever's in his head. The image quality is very crisp, a tad bright in the whites, but very good blacks. The Dolby Atmos/TRUE HD 7.1 track is very clear and plenty of punch and directionality. Highly recommended disc!

The Professional
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Professional is about a notorious hitman, Leon, who befriends his next-door neighbor, who is a girl, named Mathilda, whose parents are murdered. She vows revenge and aids Leon's help to do. Leon has a very awkward personality because he is a loner. Meanwhile, Mathilda is like the typical 12-year old girl. Despite the movie being a drama, there are some very funny moments, between the two. The movie has good acting, a great story and a fantastic ending. Considering the movie is 24-years old, it shows, quite impressive in 4K resolution.

Excellent Movie, Good Addition to SB Collection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this edition as opposed to the cheaper one solely for the beautiful art on the steel case. I am an avid collector of steelbooks and this one looks fantastic with the others! As for the film...It is quite brilliant and enjoyable from start to finish. Jean Reno and a young Natalie Portman do wonderful in their roles, but I believe that it is Gary Oldman that really makes this film something great. I won't say anymore except to give my recommendation for those that haven't seen it to see it post haste!

Great Villain = Great Film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's movie like these that remind us why we love them in the first place. Jean Reno empathizes for Natalie Portman's character in a way you don't see too much in Hollywood. How can a professional hitman empathize the way he does? This film should get standing ovations if it is ever re-released on the big screen again. That's how good it is, and the 4K quality makes it seem like your watching a movie that is far less old than it actually is. The colors catch the eye much more sharply and vividly.

Amazing, intelligent action film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Natalie Portman, in I think her first role, plays a young girl who is orphaned by a crooked cop played by Gary Oldman. She seeks refuge with her neighbor played by Jean Reno who is a professional hit man. He reluctantly becomes her protector/father figure and as the movie progresses, they teach each over valuable life lessons. Oh yes, interspersed in the movie are some expertly shot violent action sequences. Director Luc Besson expertly weaves his narrative into a must see masterpiece. Highly recommended.
