Customers enjoy the product's features, but some users report issues with the ink cartridges. Specifically, several customers have noted that the black ink cartridges tend to dry out before being fully used, resulting in streaky or unreadable print. Some users find ways to mitigate this issue to save money.

I bought my LexMark printer about 4 years ago, since then i have bought over 10 cartridge. I know my printer is old but this black cartridge is one of the best i ever had, this product is cheap and great for students to print their homework.

Extra care maybe?

I don't print often. That little protection strip that's on it when you buy it? Keep it. After I've done my printing, I put the strip back on and put it in a plastic baggy and put it in my computer cabinet. Makes it last much longer. Before I put it away, I wipe off the excess ink with a damp paper towel and when I'm going to use it again, I put it on a damp paper towel and count 15 seconds for the ink to start coming out again. Maybe you don't want the hassle, but as little as I print, I do this to save ink and money.
Try it.

Ink cartridge lacks longevity

Black ink cartridge dries up before it is all used up. I show 30% remaining on my cartridge but print is now becoming streaky and unreadable (signs of ink drying up). Granted, I don't print perhaps as much as some, but I think a cartridge should not dry out inside of 14 months. Unless you go through more than one cartridge annually, this cartridge will likely dry up before you use all the ink up. At $21.95 a pop, I find this frustrating. This is my second #16 Black cartridge with my Z515 printer with the same results. I should have learned from the problems I had with other Lexmark products. My previous Lexmark X63 all-in-one printer - nothing but problems - both software control and mechanical. You get what you pay for though - cheap printers at cheap sale prices are just hard to pass up. No more Lexmarks for me.

It works ok. I've noticed the cartridge tends to stop printing, even with ink in it, later on in its life. I guess it dried up? If you can use up all the ink before this happens you should be fine. lol That's a bit of printing though.

At First Pictures come out great but after a month or two the ink dries up in the cartridge...it's a pain.

I have had nothing but problems with both color and black cartridges ever since I bought my printer. I have spent more money that I'd like to admit. They don't last. Period.

Incredible.
5 pages, new cartridge.
No refunds.
No exchanges.
Those 3rd party refill stations also are a waste of money.
