This soundbar seem as it it was going to be a winner but only after a few weeks of usage it stopped working. I returned it to Best Buy and switched it for another one hoping it was the unit itself but once again a few weeks later it stopped working again. Returned a second time and exchanged it for a Samsung and i haven't had any issues with it.

    Exceeded my expectations

I've owned this for just a few days but it has already exceeded my expectations. I got it on sale at Best Buy and spoke with a helpful and knowledgeable customer service rep. My budget was no more than $200. I was prepared to go with a $130 sound bar but upon learning more about the differences in quality, I opted to go with the LG 2.1 300w sound bar. Luckily it was on sale and the reviews on the internet for this product were generally favorable. I live in a townhome so my ability crank up the base or volume are limited but I did test it out with an action film and was surprised at the power of the subwoofer. Installation was easy and I've had no issues with the wireless connection. I've streamed music through it and it sounds great! The Night feature is also great (softens the subwoofer and base tones). It was a great value and within my price point (thanks to the sale)! The biggest selling point was the ability to connect to my older TV (10+ year old plasma) using the optical cable and when I upgrade to a 4K TV down the road, I can also use an HDMI cable. Having that flexibility (without have to upgrade my TV right away) was a big selling point. It meets my needs and is a huge improvement from the terrible TV speakers that kept fluctuating in volume. I definitely recommend this LG sound bar!

The bar itself is ok, but I turned the bass up full blast and still could barely get any sound out of that over sized box. I am returning it.

The salesman told me when I bought it, yes you can hook it up yourself, it just plugs into your TV. I had someone look at it, because I couldn't figure it out. They told me I need a different connector to attach to my TV. Do I need pay someone to get me one & hook it up Not a good deal!

Before getting this soundbar at a nearby Best Buy, we were going to pick up the older model of this. When we got there they didn't have the older model, but they had this. We bought the open box one and set it up right away. It is fantastic! It has Bluetooth and everything! The first movie I watched on there was the car crash scene from 10 Cloverfield Lane, it it sounded fantastic! The only complaint I have with it was that it didn't come with the remote, but that's because we bought the open box one. If you're looking for a soundbar, this is the one to get!

Stunning sound in the bedroom, now!

Four years ago, I bought, what was then, a state of the art A/V system so that I could enjoy watching films in the living room. I've never quite been able to get comfortable in there. So I purchased a Sony 55" 4K Ultra HDTV, had it mounted in my bedroom and found the picture quality superb; but the sound? Meh... Years ago, I had purchased a sort of wired "home theatre in a box" made by Samsung. It was so difficult to use that I simply trashed it after 3 months. I've never used a soundbar previously, but I had this installed more quickly than it took to unbox it and I put in my target sound-test Blu-ray disc (Moulin Rouge!) and began to play. The little-to-no sound had become spectacular. Spectacular! I could have spent a fortune to get good sound from a traditional home theatre set-up, but this first experience has led me to believe that a soundbar and woofer are adequate – more than adequate – for sound in a bedroom. I looked at different soundbars (I'm disabled, so ALL of my shopping is either online or picked up by my caregiver – awkward when shopping for items when subjectivity comes into play) but this sounds as if it may be amongst the finest available. I have my older LG HDTV in my living room now, a newish LG Blu-ray player in my bedroom, an older LG Blu-ray player in my living room, scads of other things made by LG, etc. I almost bought a 55" LG UHDTV but the Consumer Reports article gave the Sony brand much high ratings. I can't recommend a more pleasant and simple to use soundbar. There may be others just as good but I can't imagine one better.

I bought this product and it was defective. The subwoofer did not work and the sound was horrible. I exchanged it for Bose, which was $70 more... Bottom line is that you get what you pay for.

    LG SH4-Better than expected

I had intended to buy the Vizio 38 inch bar with the sub woofer for $158 but was shown this LG SH4 on sale for $189 at Best Buy. Turns out there was an open box deal for this unit at $141. With the 2 week exchange policy-Why Not? Getting the unit out of its strange box was the most challenging part of the installation. I was amazed to find that all of the pieces were sealed in their original packaging. Set-up: Plug the soundbar in, connect the supplied optical cable to the TV, plug the sub woofer in, put the batteries in the remote and press the power button. An inexpensive sound bar is not going to compare with a 6 speaker surround system but it is a HUGE improvement on the sound put out by a thin flat screen. The small sub woofer adds a spacious and immersive quality. Great for movies and music. I had been thinking that I would not get a soundbar with a sub but that would have been a big mistake. I have the soundbar installed under a 48 inch flat screen in a 12x14 room. I was surprised at how impressive the sound was. Pairing the LG SH4 with blue tooth took about two minutes. The soundbar serves as an audio system when it isn't serving up TV and movies. The build quality is excellent. I like the metal grill and the sleek appearance of the bar. No distracting lights or logos on the front. This model puts out 300 watts although such ratings are more complicated than might be expected. I was impressed that the LG works with my Sony TV remote without having to program the remote. I guess the 'Sound Synch' works. Bottom line: for less than $200, the LG SH4 delivers impressive sound from the sources that it connects with. Watch TV, movies or listen to music from your portable pads/phones, This is a versatile product that delivers more than I expected it would.

I must say I am thoroughly impressed with this sound bar. I didn't think I would be. Never owned an LG in the past. Have a Samsung TV. The sound is way better than the TV speakers are, but it is not a replacement for a good surround sound system. I am using this for better sound until I can build my own surround sound system, but this does the trick. The bass is amazing out of the little subwoofer. I compared this sound bar in store to the Klipsch Sound Bar, and there was a difference, the Klipsch did sound quite a bit better, but for the price this one was hard to beat. There were some other brands that are more expensive that don't sound nearly as good as this one.

    Great soundbar for lg tv

This is a great soundbar. It's brand new and there are not any real reviews available for it so I figured I would write one. It has great sound and the sub woofer is powerful enough to feel at least in my smallish living room. It looks great and works flawlessly with my lg 4K tv with magic remote. I recommend this product of you already have the lg tv and remote as it turns on and off with the tv.(actual soundbar remote is small and kinda poor quality) Also the hdmi pass through works great and provides better sound than the optical cable in my personal experience. All in all great sound quality and took about 4 minutes to unpack and hook up. Could use a little more customizable sound presets, but the ones offered get the job done and the 4.1 is a noticeable upgrade to my 3 year old 2.1 wired soundbar.
