So the pros on this unit. After unpacking the system and hooking up the two speaker leads, I broke out one of many cassettes cases I have from my teens. As a kid of the 80's, I have tons of old cassettes that I haven't listened to in years. I now have a bunch of cd's, lossless and mp3 files, but the warmth of good old analog and the hiss of a cassette is something digital just can't replicate. I listened to SRV, Chicago and Robert Plant. The tapes filled the house and I just let them play. As for the fm tuner. It works better than my Yamaha receiver in the den. This unit is able to lock in local stations easily. You do need to download the full manual from LG.com to understand a few commands, like setting preset stations. The 3 disc cd player works great. I put an old Spin Doctor's disc in and it played flawlessly....as it should. The auto dj is a bit much, considering the options one has today. It basically chooses random tracks from the expansive 3 disc choices, lol. So cons. The cassette is pretty basic. It doesn't have auto reverse, but at least it has rewind and that's a big plus. The manuals shipped with the unit are extremely simple. You must go dl the ones from LG, as seems to be the case with most products today....what about people without internet or those that don't get technology. Too bad for you, I guess. Lastly, the biggest con is that the buttons on the cassette player as well as the auto dj and the record to usb buttons are solid black. They have symbols on them, but they aren't painted and seeing them can be a bit of a hassle, especially for those of us that use reading glasses. I wish they were backlit or at least painted white for some contrast. Overall this shelf system fulfills a need to have a small system in my living room, away from the tv and other distractions. I can just fire up some tunes and sit back and take it in.

It was easy to set up and seems to work pretty good except for the Bass. That doesn't do anything. The sound is tinny but I've finally got something that plays CD's, tapes and other sources.

Loved the sound & the multiple cd's, but the booklet said that the product has been proven to cause cancer in the state of california & to wash your hands after touching. Of course i didn't read this until i moved the stereo system 5 or 6x with Christmas items & was practically laying on it doing things. Didn't know to wash my hands. Shame, as it's a great product!

Sound quality is mediocre not the best but it does the job.

Wanted more CDs, but three is ok, I guess. A little pricey for what you get.

Like product - but LG operating instructions are incomplete and terrible

We were looking for some sort of music for the bedroom and found this system at Best Buy. Easy to set up, easy to use, and fit pretty well on our bookshelves. Being able to play multiple CDs is pretty convenient and the sound is perfect for our room. Having a tape player seems a bit dated, but I love being able to play my old mix tapes and it does have workable bluetooth for my more recent technology. My one issue is that I wish that the speaker wires were longer.

I thought I was getting a good product but when I got it home and realized you can’t use headphones wired or wireless I was very disappointed. Not worth the money.

At first glance, this LG audio system looks like something left over from the 80's. It has a 3 disc CD tray (you can change the CD's from the other two trays while it's playing the third) and a cassette player for your old cassettes lying around the house that you thought you'd never hear again. But this device will surprise you. It features Bluetooth which I found connected instantly to my smartphone. It also has a USB port which you can use to either play music files or record music from your CD's or cassettes. The unit IS big (takes up a lot of real estate) but the sound is also, especially when you engage its bass boost. It really made the music on my smartphone come alive. One important suggestion. If you buy this system, make sure you go to the LG website and download the full instruction manual. The instruction "leaflet" that LG puts in the box with the unit is virtually worthless, and without the full manual from the website you'd miss all kinds of "hidden features" this system can offer.

To try to get a hold of you to tell about this item not working was futile. I had two individual that are sound men get it out of the box, and set up. The C.D. player would not close, and it was all over faulty. I returned it on June 8th paying to ship it back to you, as to try to print a pre paid label, but that didn't work. So I'm out $184.27. I'm ready to call the Attorney General about this

Nice sound system with plenty of power to fill a room. Has AM/FM tuner, USB, 3-CD changer, Bluetooth, and a tape player for those times you’re feeling nostalgic. One cool feature is the ability to record audio from the other inputs to USB. Sound quality is more than acceptable and it does have EQ presets to make slight adjustments to suit your preference. Few things to be aware of… the included manual is pretty much a waste of paper; plan on downloading the full manual from LG website to figure out many of the non-basic functions. The speaker wires are only about 5 feet long, and permanently attached to the speakers, so speaker placement is limited. Auto-DJ is a gimmick - it just fades from one song to another. Last, but not least, the buttons on the main unit really need to be backlit; they’re very difficult to identify unless the lighting is just right. Overall, a decent setup for the price, and I would recommend to a friend.

PRO: • Good sound, with a good range and decent collection of equalizer settings • Good FM tuner CON: • No manual included; download, only. Yes, this has become fairly standard, but it’s annoying. Several functions and settings are not obvious, but require a manual to use. • The various buttons and controls are poorly marked. The front of the unit is a glossy black and elaborately shaped, and the controls are faintly marked. When these factors combine with glare and shadows, I find myself squinting and looking from all kinds of angles to see anything. • All of the buttons for the cassette player are on top of the unit, so unless you put the unit down low and unobscured by an upper shelf, you can’t see them. • No random play, just “Auto DJ”, which cuts songs off to go to a different one. • I gave up trying to set the clock. • The remote is missing some things, such as the ability to switch modes. NEUTRAL: • Includes a cassette player, which is useless for some and wonderful for others. • Pretty large for a “mini” system.

This stereo system sound quality is exceptional for its size. I use it in my garage and it fills the room with clear sound. It's has decent highs and lows although there is something missing. I like all of the options that the LG Hi-Fi shelf system offers such as Bluetooth, disc changer, and cassette player. I think this unit would be great for a college dorm room or a small apartment. For the price and size I would definitely recommend for anyone on a budget and with minimal space to place a compact stereo.

No AM radio....and I didn't like the plastic look.

Mother's Day gift ceased working after 3 weeks. LG pushes repair, not replace. Prior to breakdown, sent a Best Buy survey revealing that this defect has happened before.

It has been a blast playing back some old mix tapes from my past. This LG machine brings some of the best from the past - but also has the current technology so you don't have to use two different devices. You can play tapes, it has a radio, a 3 CD disc changed and is blue tooth so you can stream from any device. It has a pretty good sound system and is great for an indoor radio system. My only concern is the tape deck will eventually break. It seems rather delicate to be opening and closing often. It's a great party system to bring back some old memories and make use of the CD's we still have laying around!

My CD's did not start at the beginning of the songs and also cut off the very ending of all songs as well.

My son loves this stereo. He plays his music from the usb input alot. Sound is nice and clean, easy for him to use and select different sources. This is a great small stereo, for a younger person or someone with limited space in a room. The built in bluetooth is a nice feature, and works very well

it said it played cd's at random but only plays one at random
