Customers are saying

Customers admire the 24" Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub for its incredibly quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance, with many noting that it cleans dishes completely and is nearly silent. However, some users have experienced issues with the dish rack, reporting that it can be difficult to load and prone to falling off its track. This can lead to dishes shifting and potentially chipping. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and noise levels outweighs the negative comments regarding the dish rack.

While I like the dishwasher a great deal there are little things about it that nag at me. They really only disappoint because it could have been so much better. My comments are after only having the unit about a month. I really can't speak to reliability yet. Here is a quick list of the good and bad: Good - Nearly silent - Most of the time I can't tell if it is running Good - Simple controls (almost too simple - see BAD below) Good - Third rack is handier than I'd have thought (wish height adjusted) Good - the tines are VERY adjustable with lots of options to change Good - Installation was relatively simple (one exception) Good - Seems to clean very well so far Bad - Controls are TOO simple - buttons have multiple options and I'd rather have had a few more buttons with less combinations to control Bad - Doesn't remember last cycle or your preferred settings and requires you to constantly change settings to get it right each time (HATE HATE THIS) - my previous dishwasher was over 7 years old and had this down perfectly - what happened to progress? Bad - Racks are sticky and don't glide in and out. Ironically I loved this about the floor demo I saw as it worked perfectly but I find the racks could go in and out easier Bad - Adjustment for leveling during install is incredibly cool but a bit of a pain to operate and almost didn't work at all when I first got it. Looks easy to break. Bad - No light to tell you if your dishes are clean after it finishes running. This baffles me. There are lights and an LCD - why couldn't they use this to tell me if the dish washer is done washing and clean?? BIG PET PEAVE HERE. Again, my 7 year old previous dishwasher did this why not this one? Bad - The middle rack seems to always need help getting pushed in all the way. Presumably this is because the spray nozzle for the second rack has to seat into the back of the washer to connect into the water source but I always feel like I have to force the dishwasher closed because the second rack isn't in all the way. Bad - The mechanism that closes and holds the detergent is a major pain in the neck. It never closes the first time. Frankly, it is just poorly designed. If it remembered the last wash cycle and the holder for the detergent worked right I'd rate it 5 stars. The lack of a wash finished/clean light at the end of a cleaning cycle is unforgivable. My kids are constantly putting dirty dishes into a clean dishwasher or not realizing the dishes are done.

    Quite But Watch Out

This LG 24 Inch Dish Washer is a very quite machine. It also cleans very well. But there are two major problems with the design. First and most important is the that main dish rack keeps falling off the its holding rails. When rack is nearly full of dishes and you pull out the rack to place the last few dishes in, the rack falls of the its rails and the dishes bang together. You have to remove most, if not all the dishes, reset the dish rack and then reload the dishes back into the washer. When the dish rack falls off of its track, the dishes can chip. Be extra careful is you have fine china. The second problems is the soap dispenser which is to small for the new tablet size dish washer packs. Oven it takes two or three tries to get the lit to close. One other problem is the simple lack of air dry. Oven the dishes come out wet and need to be hand wiped.

After researching dishwashers for a few weeks I chose the LG LDS5774ST and I'm happy I did. It fits a lot of dishes, cleans well, and my plastic items like sippy cips come out mostly dry. It's so quiet that I sometimes forget that it's running. I have not experienced any chemical smell that I have read about on reviews of other dishwashers. There are 2 little things that bother me. I tend to lean against the counter right in front of the dishwasher when I read through the mail and I keep turning the power button on when I do so. Also, I wish there were an indicator light to tell if dishes are clean or dirty. Overall, I am very happy with this dishwasher.

This dishwasher is quiet. It is rated at 44db and almost impossible to hear when it is operating. When starting, I listen very carefully to see if it has started. So far the dishes are very clean after the "Normal" 2:20 minute cycle. I decreased the rating by one star because we have had the bottom rack fall off the tract twice when fully loaded. It is not easy to put the rack back on the track when the rack is loaded. Be careful not to fully extend the lower rack to the maximum. Also the front stainless steal panel constantly needs to be cleaned to keep finger prints off of it. Wish LG would have use a better stainless steal that did not constantly require cleaning and polishing. We are still trying to figure out the operating instructions; they are not clear. It took us four times to get the dishwasher started.

SUPER Quiet! Love the third rack option too. Only suggestion: make the third rack adjustable in height. Can't quite get some bigger utensils to fit - ie scrappers, spatula turners, etc; Definitely made for flatware. Otherwise, so many adjustable options within the bottom rack to accommodate anything. Adjustable height middle rack is a lifesaver. It took us a few cycles to figure out the rinse aid setting for spotless dishes. The sample dish detergent pod did not work well for us- but we have hard water so that may be a factor. We have been very pleased with this dishwasher! And yes, I show everyone who comes in my kitchen how cool this thing is! And then later, I have to announce that it's actually running, otherwise no one will notice how truly quiet it is!!

    Not Great

Within the first year of owning this dishwasher we had to have the entire pumping system replaced. When the repair man came out because we called because it was making so much noise he couldn't figure out was wrong with it so he just replace the entire pumping system. We are now almost 3 years into owning this dishwasher and have yet another error code where the water will not drain out. So now we are out in search of a new pump and hose which no one in our area carries, to see if we can fix it ourselves before calling a repair man because we are now out of warranty. As others have mentioned some other issues with this dishwasher are the bottom rack comes off the track and when it's full of dishes it's hard to get it back in. it also runs for a very long time even on the shortest cycle so I feel that it uses a lot of water, the water bill has gone up since we purchased the diswasher not a great deal but enough to notice. When it is running it does run quietly and it does clean the dishes nicely. It also is hard to load with the spindles that go up and down it sometimes is hard to figure out how to get the dishes to stay upright. All in all if I had to buy it again and I knew what I know now I would avoid this dishwasher we may have received a lemon I'm not sure but having to fix the dishwasher twice within a three-year period after it's brand-new is unacceptable. It's quite an expensive dishwasher to have this many problems I had a GE in my home when I first built it and it lasted for 10 years before I replaced it with this LG. And I take my GE back right now just so I didn't have to hand wash my dishes.

    Almost Perfect

We did a lot of research before buying this both on line and in person. We compared it to Kitchen Aid and Bosch in our research. All three brands are very nice. They look good and have pretty much the same washing features. The Kitchen Aid cost 30% more; the Bosch reviews said the service was bad. Bosch also had a one year warranty. The LG has a two year warranty on parts and labor, and five years on electronics, 10 years on the motor, and lifetime on the stainless interior. None other compared on warranty. We also bought the Geek Squad warranty for trouble free service going forward. This dishwasher is super quiet, the controls are easy to use if you read the book, and it really is a very attractive appliance in our kitchen which has other stainless appliances. There are two things we needed to adjust to compared to the Kenmore this LG replaced. As someone else mentioned, the bottom rack comes off the track if you pull it all the way out for loading. It's actually hit or miss, but mostly miss, if the dishes are not placed on the rack in a balanced way. It's bad engineering, plain and simple. If the rack is almost full of dishes it will be difficult to get it back on the track, as heavy lifting would be necessary. We were used to the Kenmore which was ten years old, and which took a lot of use and very little abuse. Once we start loading it more regularly, I'm sure we will figure it out and it will be less annoying. The controls are sensitive. My wife and I each touched the power key accidentally while getting something out of a cupboard. The unit played a little tune to remind us it was on. It does shut itself off four minutes later. It has some nice features. It has a third tray for silverware or small items which is minimally useful. It does, however, expand what the dishwasher will hold. We use it for spatulas, larger knives and small plastics. We are still practicing how to load it. It does have a long cycle, but it's so quiet, who cares. It's rated at $31 a YEAR to run, with average use. The dishes came out dry and sparkling clean. A few plastic items and glasses puddled on top, but that's normal for all dishwashers. A great unit, would recommend. We bought it on sale, and the salesperson at Best Buy was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. When we get used to loading that bottom rack, it will have been a perfect purchase.

Yes, it's quiet. But hard to load, cleaning so-so

I'm torn between two & three stars on this one - giving the benefit of the doubt since this was purchased as a scratch & dent floor model. But I don't think that changed the performance. Given the reviews of this model, I was excited to find one at an aggressive price. But I almost sent it back - probably should have. I love the upper hidden flat shelf for cleaning small items. I love that it really is incredibly quiet. But - first of all, it has to clean dishes. The cleaning ability I'm seeing is nowhere near as good as the GE it replaced - and only replaced because we're selling the house, and the realtor said it was strange that the White dishwasher didn't match the upgraded stainless appliances we put in a couple of years ago. So we replaced it. What's the problem? Loading the dishwasher: I love having fold-down tines on the bottom and middle racks; but they are fold down WAY too easily. If you just touch them - so it's really hard to put odd-sized items, and drink bottles, because they lean over, and the tines just fall over. Top shelf, was hard to figure out where to put mugs - only a couple of areas are wide enough, but I'm figuring it out. Finally, the cleaning results - I drink a lot of homemade iced tea, and the plastic tops of the pitchers get tea stains. My old GE washer (same detergent) got most of the tea stains off. This new LG unit leaves them just as stained as when they went in. So I'm really not impressed. Again, if we weren't already going crazy because of trying to sell the house, I'd have returned it. I hope my experience is an anomaly - I have an LG washer, and I love it!
