First off, this rating is based upon receiving a damaged product from the manufactured. I may edit the review in the future in the manufacturer replaces the damaged part which appears to be a quality control issue --- ie, not damaged during shipping.
The unit itself appears to be a well made unit aside from the plastic front panel. It had numerous good reviews which is why I purchased it, and why I would still recommend it to a friend. I just wouldn't want it shipped to me. I would prefer to purchase it directly at Best Buy and open the box there and verify that nothing appears to be damaged.
The AC unit was delivered to me on 12/20, just prior to the Christmas & New Years Holidays so the company that I had contracted to update our Florida Room and also install the AC unit could not schedule our update/installation until the 2nd week in January. Unfortunately, my wife was due to have a baby any day so we did not feel comfortable having anyone doing work at our house until after the baby arrived. Took my wife to the hospital at 4am on Jan 14th to have our baby.
Called contractor later that week and scheduled our work to be done today, 1/31. We opened the box together and after removing the AC Unit found that the front grill had some of it's mounting tabs broken. As luck would have it, I checked and found out that the last day to return the unit was Jan 14th, the same day we were in the hospital having our baby.
I did not really want to return the AC unit anyhow, so I had the contractor install the unit anyhow as it is only the front grill that appears to be defective and went to Best Buy this evening to discuss it with them. I assumed that Best Buy could have the grill replaced ... but unfortunately that is not the case. :(
I've uploaded 4 photos, 3 of which illustrate where the defects are in the front grill.
1st - just illustrates the completed installation. You can't tell from the photo that the front grill does not attach securely to the unit and that the louver mount is also damaged.
2nd - illustrates where the broken tab is beneath the front grill that should snap into the main unit. Can't actually see the missing tab without turning over the grill which I didn't think to do at that moment and don't feel like removing it to do so now.
3rd - photo of the louver mount on the right side of the front grill which illustrates what the louver mount SHOULD look like.
4th - photo of the louver mount on the left side of the front grill which is broken off.
Here's the thing. The contractors and I opened the box and there is no obvious damage to the box. In addition, we searched inside the box and the broken tabs were not in the box. Also picked up and tilted the AC unit side to side and did not hear any rattling so the tabs do not appear to be inside the main unit.
So where are the broken tabs. My best guess is at the factory.
In summary, I have to believe that the grill was broken prior to the AC Unit being boxed which is an indication of poor QC (quality control) at the LG Manufacturing plant. There is no way that this front grill was assembled without knowing that the louver does only snaps in on one side, and that the grill is missing a tab to attach to the main unit. Makes me wonder what else is going to go wrong with this unit in the future.
I went to Best Buy after the installation was complete and they told me that there is nothing they can do since we can not return it after the 14th. They said I'd need to call and discuss it with the manufacturer and it's up them to replace the front grill or not. The rep also told me that they would be glad to call LG for me, but that LG will ask to speak with me regardless. In addition, I'd need to have the actual Model Number and Serial Number off the unit which I did not have with me.
As such, I left Best Buy no better off then when I entered.
However, I now have the Model and Serial Numbers and will return to Best Buy within next couple days the first chance I get to escape from my Daddy Daycare duties for our 2 year old and newborn. I will let them talk to the manufacturer first so they know whether or not LG is supporting their customers.
That's all I can say at the moment. Seems like a nice unit, but I have only turned it on for about 5 minutes to see if it ran properly. That appears good, but I won't be happy if I have to pay to replace the front grill which arrived defective and does not appear to have been damaged in transit.

I shopped quite a bit until I decided on this unit.
Consumer Reports recommended, the AC is quiet, powerful and efficient.
The bedroom where it is located is on a second floor facing almost west. Therefore, the afternoon heat can be challenging.
The unit performs well and consistently.
Great buy, from Best Buy.

We are using this in our bedroom. It is quiet for a window unit (we usually run it on low) and cools very well. It is also "smooth" - meaning there are no rattles or vibrations and the fan and compressor run without variations in speed. This is important in a room you are sleeping in. Tip - be sure to turn off the energy saver mode each time you turn the unit on or else it will cycle on and off and not cool as well....

Bought 2 of these to replace older running units that were too dirty to clean. Not only are we keeping cool and comfortable, the units are extremely quiet as compared to the older units. Excellent cooling that satisfies the whole family.

This unit was easy to install and it works so quietly. I saw the other reviews and knew that this brand was known for its quiet operation. I was not disappointed.

The most important for me is
its quietness . Runs great - does what it should .
Remote is a plus .
It is heavy - that is the downside . A challenge
for one person lifting into window .
