LG advertises this TV as being smart but what they don't tell you is that the pre-loaded Google Assistant & Alexa apps don't function because the included remote is outdated with no microphone but if you click on let's say the Google Assistant app it shows you an "LG Magic remote" which has the microphone so you might think maybe I can buy the LG Magic Remote and everything will work as it should but that's not happening because I contacted LG and they said no version of LG's Magic Remotes are compatible with this TV(27LQ625S-PU)

PROS: Got this TV for the kitchen so I wanted a smaller screen, but 24" was too small and 32" a little too big. This was perfect. Lightweight, so it's easily moved to another room to do work out videos or whatever. Build quality still does seem very nice and solid though. Sound is actually surprisingly good for such a small tv! The settings allow you to change the sound "style" and there is a significant different between the various styles, so play around with it if you're not immediately happy with the sound quality. For example, I was surprised I liked the "standard" sound setting better than the "AI" one for music. TV *DOES* have bluetooth capability for audio. Hooked up my bluetooth headphones with no problem - also in sound settings. TV allows you to use sound from both the tv and a wireless bluetooth speaker at the same time, so that's a great option to improve sound quality. I *LOVE* the 1080p. It's worth the extra money, even in a small tv set IMO. The image quality is very very good! WebOS has all the basics, and screen mirroring is good from my iPhone. Surprisingly, the TV picked up on all of my Kasa smart home devices/bulbs without me really asking, so that was a cool and unexpected bonus. A few CONS: agree with another reviewer that the remote *IS* too busy. I regularly press the wrong buttons because it's so crowded and I'm used to using a remote without having to look down at it, especially the up down left right buttons. It's a bit annoying and the remote needs a redesign. Not a deal breaker though. Also, no voice control on the included remote, but I think I can do it from my phone. (I can use my iPhone as a virtual remote, which is nice). I wish it had a center stand. Center stands are just better and especially for a smaller tv. The legs are too wide for the counter where I have it, so I had to improvise a stand. It has Vesa mount holes but I don't want to spend extra $ on a new stand. WebOS is actually pretty good, but navigating the settings/ interface combined with a way-too-busy remote might not be so easy for people who aren't tech savvy. I am tech savvy, but could see how it could be a frustrating experience for some people. Live tv images do take a moment to buffer and get to full image quality. This isn't really a con, just how it works. I'll be adding a Roku Streambar, but I did debate whether or not I actually even needed to do that because the TV itself is such a great package with very good options. Overall, I'm super happy with this TV and would recommend it!

27" TV, works pretty well in bright lighting

This TV gets a bump from 4 to 5 stars for being a viable 27" TV option, since most brands jump from 24" to 32". I needed a TV about this size to use primarily as a TV to watch while on my computer, and occasionally as a second monitor. Picture: looks good from 2 feet away, and the preset picture setting options are quite varied. I'll mostly watch sports and movies on it, and the choices work well for me. It also holds up well when there is a lot of sunlight coming in the room. Sound: as others have noted, is probably as basic as you'd expect from a small TV, but it suits my needs for where I use it. The AI sound choice actually does well for clarity for sports. I have small complaints about the slow settings menu and the remote buttons are dense and mostly all the same size, so using it without looking at what you're pressing is harder than for some other remotes. But I'll give LG 5 stars for providing a 27" TV with a good picture. Notes for wall mounting: because this is a small TV, be sure to get a mount with a small enough TV plate. One that is too big will block the inputs. Also note that the input ports point straight out the back, not to the side or down. So any stiff or large input cords will need space between the TV and the wall. That wasn't a problem for me because I specifically wanted an articulating arm mount and never really put mine right against the wall.

LG has a good reputation for making reliable TVs and the picture quality of the IPS panel on this TV made for an easy buying decision. Setup was done using the TV controls without any problems. Have a Roku to stream Spectrum TV and various apps (Netflix, etc.), so had no use for the WebOS feature. Setting the Sleep Timer requires numerous steps and the small buttons on the remote makes it challenging. Using the Off Timer instead was a better option for me since it only has to be done once.

I needed a smaller-sized (27") smart TV for use in the kitchen and the ability to stream was a must-have. I was surprised that it's getting so hard to find a under 32 inches; this was just about the only viable option. PROS: Though it doesn't come with a lot of preloaded apps, the LG app page has pretty much everything available so we were able to get everything we needed such as YouTube TV, Paramount +, Discovery + and so on. Picture is good with high resolution and smooth frame rate. This TV has optical digital out so we could easily connect to a small sound bar. One change in the setup options changes from internal speaker to digital optical out and it remembers the change so it doesn't have to be reset every time. CONS: The stand sets the viewing angle at 90 degrees; i.e. perpendicular to the countertop and is not adjustable so viewing is less than perfect if you aren't positioned directly in front of the screen. SUPER BIG CON: The TV that I received was refurbished/renewed, which is normally not a problem and a money saver, but THEY INCLUDED THE WRONG #^%$ING REMOTE. It would do the basic things like turn the TV on and off, volume +/- etc., but there was no way to access the apps without going through a set-up screen and literally reloading an app every time you wanted to use it. My first thought was to just return it, because I knew that trying to get a big-box retailer like Best Buy to send me the right remote would simply be an exercise in futility because they probably have the refurb units sent from some 3rd-world sweat-shop and have no way to even locate the right remote, much less actually send one to me. So, I checked eBay and sure enough I found one for about nine bucks. It was just so much easier to spend another $9 for the right remote than going through the hassle of returning this TV and finding another one somewhere. So, Best Buy loses all customer service points for gross incompetence in shipping a complete product.

Rare 27" Provides Nice Screen Real Estate

This set is in a class of its own because there are hardly any sets out there that are larger than 24" but smaller than 32" and it fits the need perfectly. It was purchased for a kitchen to replace a 40-year string of letterbox CRTs of about 13-14 inches (the last of which finally died yesterday). It provides quite a bit more screen real estate than a 24" but isn't overpowering like a 32". It fit perfectly on a very old TV stand with about 0.25 inch to spare on each side. In-store display looked excellent compared to other sets of this approximate size. On left, top, and right sides of the screen, the bezel is extremely thin, allowing the picture to extend almost to the edge. The picture quality is excellent - what I would call "mature," unlike cheap small TVs with oversaturated, overcompensated color. Notably, the blues are deep, true, and natural. Skin tones are natural. Most other colors are natural. Brightness is appropriate and not overpowering. Sound is excellent. It works well with cable adapter box via HDMI and is a smart TV - software is LG's proprietary webOS, which is compatible with an array of streaming apps. Set up is a bit in-depth, so it may be a challenge for technology phobic or elderly people. Turning on/off is super-fast. I was pleased to find the power supply is internal despite the back power port which looks like there might be an external power brick. It comes with a full remote with numeric keypad and is very well laid out. Input changes are very intuitive. Overall, it's very well-made set that is worth the extra cost. It just "works."

Like the TV, Hate the Remote

The 1080p resolution of this set gives an excellent, sharp photo, especially when viewed head-on. The remote, however, is a big source of frustration. The most-used TV watching buttons are clustered at the bottom. They are small and indistinct from each other, and it is VERY easy to punch the buttons for Disney+ or Netflix instead of the up or down arrow. Compared to other smart TVs, the setup is a bit clunky and time consuming. Also the software update refuses to load. Sound is OK; the voice priority mode is very clear. It's the only 27" TV available, and that's what is needed for the spot. So it's a good choice for me.

Love the pic and TV overall, the only thing stopping me from going 5 stars is the issue with my network. I am not sure if it is the network or the TV but have to reboot the TV from time to time to get the apps working again. I give it 4.999 stars, the smart part is the issue and not 100% it is not my router.

This is the ideal size for my kitchen counter. This was the only new 1080p tv I could find in 27-28” range. I’m pleased enough with the picture quality. I was concerned with it being an IPS screen which allows for extreme viewing angles but tend to look worse straight on than VA screens. It’s actually quite good, I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing. The sound is ok. Surprisingly full for tv speakers but a tad scratchy or grainy so I’m using a compact soundbar with it. I’m very picky about sound. Build quality is solid. I expect this tv to last. I wish this was a dumb tv. I use antenna mostly and have Roku & Fire sticks connected to the 2 HDMI ports. I wish it another HDMI input so I could use HDMI ARC for my but it works well enough via optic and I’m able to control the soundbar volume with the tv remote although it usually requires a few touches to engage. What is lost frustrating is having to through too many steps to access the over the air tv mode. Everyone I turn on the tv it defaults to LG’s lousy smart screen. LGs built-in smarts suck compared to stand alone streamers. Slow and laggy, not the most user friendly. It’s frustrating to not be able to instantly access my antenna guide. Requires waiting for the tv to boot up, showcase the Home Screen then navigate down and over to the OTA mode. The Home Screen is confusing and won’t allow clicking on some icons/smaller screens that appear to be highlighted such as last channel/input used. Maybe I’m not understanding something yet either way it’s a poor design. It has a strong tuner though, I get like 94 stations(via my rooftop antenna). I’m about 1/2 hour drive from downtown Cleveland Ohio. I also love that the remote has an actual number keypad, a rarity today. Huge plus for antenna users. This tv is only a 60hz refresh rate so it’s motion isn’t always great yet way better than 60hz TVs of the past. Most people won’t notice issues. Color fairly accurate and pops well enough. Clarity decent. Appears to be a matte screen finish and it’s quite bright for its size so it handles reflections very well. Big advantage for me. Overall I’m satisfied with this tv I just wish it was simpler to use for OTA. At its regular price of $200 I would say it’s overpriced especially for those that will not bother with its lousy built-in smarts however I got it on sale and used my rewards discount so I got an incredible deal(less than $60).
