I purchased this when it was on sale + there was about 125 in rebates. We have 4 people in our household and fits all the clothes in (we do separate lights and dark though) Has plenty of features, but i haven't used them all yet. Two things i've noticed so far, is that the water shut off on this washer sounds like its a hard stop valve. We live in a 30'ish year old house, and the pipes are kinda loose. So when the washer stops the water, it stops it hard enough that i can hear the pipes shake. Guess i'm gonna have to secure the pipes or add an air chamber. Other thing is that the glass window seems to get lint stuck on the side, but thats not a bad thing. I'm sure all front loading washers are like that. Just an easy wipe with a paper towel fixes that.

Excellent Washer at an Excellent Price

I just replaced my GE front loader washer which was only 3.5 years old. It broke and I could have fixed it but my wife and I did not like the washer and did not want to spend any money on it. This washer is much more stable and has a lot less vibrations then the GE washer. This is important when considering having a washer on a second floor. The LG has a direct drive motor and no belt. Big difference. My GE washer moved all the time where as the LG does not move at all. Wash cycle is also faster. Stay away from GE and go with LG.

    So far so good...

I've had my LG washer for about 7 weeks now, and I've done maybe 20-25 loads in that time. I replaced a top loader with this front loader, but I have owned a front loader before. I did not replace my dryer when I bought this washer. I considered getting a more expensive LG washer that also received good reviews (I don't remember which model), but it was significantly more money and didn't offer that much more. So far, I have no regrets. Best Buy delivered the washer on Memorial Day and removed my old washer. Delivery was free and there was no haul-away charge. The delivery guys were very professional and I was very happy with the entire process. I haven't had any problems with the washer, and it cleans at least as well as my old washer. It's more gentle on clothes than the top loader it replaced, except if you use the highest spin speed, in which case it's about the same as the old washer. To avoid smells and mildew, I leave the washer door open wide between loads, and I also take out and drain the detergent dispenser drawer after the last load, and leave it partly open overnight to dry. I haven't used anything except detergent in the dispenser (no bleach or fabric softener). Some people have said the end-of-cycle signal (tune) is too quiet -- I have the washer on the second floor of my home, but I can still hear the signal from the first floor. Like others, I like the tune a lot better than the obnoxious buzz my previous washer made. I didn't get the pedestal. The washer is a few inches taller than my dryer, but the washer/dryer doors are at about the same height, making it easier to transfer clothes to the dryer than it was from my old washer. I crouch to load the washer and dryer -- if bending or crouching is a problem for you, then you should probably go for the pedestal. The wash cycle length is actually shorter than I was expecting. A normal wash cycle takes 48 minutes according to the display -- some front loaders have cycle times nearly twice as long. 48 minutes is longer than my old top loader would take, but not much longer. The time display seems reasonably accurate -- if it says there's 1-2 minutes left, the cycle ends in 1-2 minutes. My old front loader used to show 1 minute remaining for the last 10 minutes or so of the cycle. The only negatives for me: 1. The washer doesn't hold as much as I was expecting, it's about the same as my old top loader (which was a high capacity top loader). I was expecting it to hold more and be able to do fewer loads. My previous front loader had a higher capacity than this one. However, since the wash times aren't much longer than they were for my old top loader, I'm not any worse off than before. (The moral: Don't assume all front loaders have huge capacity.) 2. The washer is not as quiet as I was expecting. It's not loud exactly, it just makes some strange noises throughout the cycle. Overall, the washer is quieter than my old one, especially during the spin cycle. So far, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this washer to others.

Our first front load washer- we're impressed. This thing has an unbelievably fast spin speed- clothes come out almost dry. We are washing 2x as many towels in a load as we could with our old top load washer.

I bought this washer and the matching gas dryer about 3 weeks ago. Set up was done by delivery personnel. I had my reservations prior to the purchase because I had never owned a front load machine before. I must say that this machine has gone well passed my expectations. It cleans great, uses less water, and is not noisy at all. The only noise I hear is the initial fill, (sounds like multiple thumps), and when it goes to spin. ( kind of sounds like a jet engine, but not over the top). I really liked the fact that LG has one of the best warranties in the business, in fact that was the deciding factor between this machine and a similarly priced Samsung. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. It may cost more than some top load machines but overall it is worth the extra cost.

    Ode to a Laundry Beast!

I just had this delivered to me today as of 10:00 am PDT. As of 8:00 pm PDT, I washed three loads of clothes (varying from a few medium sized items to a month's worth of dirty/funky clothes), and I gotta tell ya: it's freaggin' awesome!!! I never realized that not only were my clothes not getting clean from my now defunct top loader that I had for 15 years (yes that's FIFTEEN), but I have been wearing soapy clothes for just that long (darnit!)!!! Talk about lasting 1st impressions; this beast of a machine has made quite a 1st one with me (love at first wash?). I could say more, but I've got more laundry to do; excuse me, please!

We upgraded from a 10 year old top loading Kenmore washer. The LG not only does a better job in washing, it also does a better job in getting rid of the water used. i.e. It takes half the drying time of our old washer for the same amount of clothes. So not only does the washer save money in washing it also saves money in drying! We highly recommend this washer to anyone! With the rebates available it makes this a "Best Buy"!!

We have a busy household with 2 kids, 2 dogs and a cat. Lots of fur, dirt and sweat! We researched ALL types of machines, read reviews, compared cost vs value/performance and looked at ALL brands for a month before choosing. We bought this matching set for it's good reviews and fair price. We LOVE them and don't regret this choice at all. We had an old, standard washer and dryer before these. People say you either love them or hate them. Others say "follow the manual!" and yet negative nancy's warn you they cause hammer pipe (this is an easy, cheap fix, if it happens although it didn't happen to us) or they have a smell, but your manual CLEARLY tells you to run the "tub clean" option with bleach only and no soaps once a month to avoid this smell. We also leave the door open between loads so the moisture doesn't get stale or musty and this has worked as we have no odor in our machine since we follow these guidelines. I say embrace the differences HE machines offer and stop whining! These work GREAT!! Every article gets wet, every stain and dirt particle gets removed and no stinks of sweat, animals, or perfumes!! We love the "water plus" option for loads with extra-dirty clothes or large/bulky item loads. It also has the heating coil which makes the hot to cold water ratios better than on other machines!! Embrace this one and you won't be sorry!! -

We got this machine at a great price so my review is certainly biased based on that. Have had the machine for only a month so can vouch for its longevity. So far it has worked very well and is extremely easy to use. probably has more features than we use. Only con I can say is not exactly sure which cycle to use when you only have a small load to do -- nothing called small load.

Lg Washing Machine is a piece of art. Smooth running and I am so amazed at how efficient it is on conserving water. Clothes are so clean when they are done washing. Also, clothes don't take as long to dry anymore which saves on our electric bill. Simply hook up water hoses, plug in and washer is ready for first load of clothes!!!!

Feature-rich washing machine that looks great and does a solid job. The initial water fill is a little startling - it REALLY shoots the water into the machine with great force - and living in a building with 20+ year old pipes, it has me a little concerned (hopefully unnecessarily!). Also, the machine isn't terribly quiet. But that's it for the semi-negatives - it IS very easy to use, looks nice, washes clothes well, and so far no vibration/"walking" of any kind. Counting on LG quality and reliability to keep this puppy cleaning for years and years.

I always thought the dryer would go first, so I wasn't prepared for the Washing machine!!! But I'm so glad I bought the LG. Best Buy set it up and it was ready. Compartments are easy to identify and fill. I love having the ability to put detergent, bleach, and softener in the machine without having to stand there or time myself. You will not be disappointed.

The Best Washer I've ever had

I am so happy we chose this washer. It is super efficient. I love that it doesn't use too much water and makes drying time faster too. It used to take me all day to do a couple loads of laundry with my old electric washer/dryer set. This electric washer/dryer set is amazing and I was able to do 2 full loads of laundry in under 2 hrs. I don't know if others might be faster but I'm super happy with this set.

"I am not sure if anyone else relies on reviews, but I do. When I was looking at buying a new washer, I knew what I wanted but wanted to make sure that I was not going to be disappointed when I got it home. When we hooked it up and did the first load, I was amazed at what a wonderful job it does! I could not have bought a better washer for the price that we spent. Thank you LG for making such a great product. You have made a customer for life!"

i love my new washer! had to buy it and a dryer @ the same time. i lucked up and found the lg washer and dryer on sale. it ended up having way more bells and whistles than i had hoped for. took a little getting used to , as far as having to leave door open to dry, but that was no big deal. the clothes feel and smell way cleaner than my old whirlpool, top load washer. i am a fan of lg products anyway, but so far, this has lived up to its name.
