Washer does an excellent job of getting the clothes clean and is quiet. We previously had a front loader that was loud, moved around all over the floor, and there was a musty mold smell all the time. The front seal had been replaced twice, repairman said that was probably the source of the smell and mold (If wasn't). Clothes come out smelling clean and fresh even before the dryer. One tip I will leave is that the water level is based on the "weight" of the load of clothes. When we first got it, it didn't seem to have enough water to do a proper wash so I added more water. Then I found a YouTube tip to pour a gallon of water around on the clothes in a new load. The added weight of an extra gallon of water makes the machine think the load is larder than it is and adds more water than normal and IMHO gives a better wash. Overall, I love it.

Very quite compared to my old washer. It cleans very well and the clothes smell so good and clean. Easy to use. The washer senses the load and goes from there. More often than not, it finishes the cycle in shorter time than the original display. Con: it has no whites setting?? However it washes in normal mode and dispenses bleach. The start button is at times hard to find the sweet spot for it to start. I’m not sure if it needs to break in. Other than that... I Love this washer! I’m about 20 washes into this review. Will update as needed. Oh and the tub is huge! Washed my king comforter along with my king sheets, with plenty of room to spare. This beast cleans!! I’m still trying to figure out the app.

Delivery guys were awesome. Set up and and demonstration were professional. So far so good. Replaced a Sears product that only lasted 5 years. It was so loud it was ridiculous. My wife is a washaholic. It's handled big loads, it's cleans well and is easy to operate. We're getting our moneys' worth.

Should have bought this the first around

I should have bought this brand/style washing machine the first time around. I wanted a front loading washing machine and a dryer for a long time. Saving up for the machines I bought a pair of matching front loading Samsung washer and dryer. It was good for a short while until the washer had a catastrophic failure with the bearings giving out. I was lucky in that it was still under warranty, however it would cost more to fix it than it was worth. Samsung said it would send me check for what it was worth, not much. After reading reviews I chose the LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle Top-Loading Washer. Let me tell you it is HUGE. I had a lot of laundry to catch up on and filled the wash tube to the limit. Boy howdy it did the wash and it came out clean, now the down side, the amount of clothes it can wash is more than my dryer can handle efficiently so I may have to buy a new dryer, husband said no, just wash smaller loads, I know he’s right, but! The washer has plenty of cycles for different types of wash and at this point in time I am happier than before, I wish I went this route the first time.

We had a front load LG before and it lasted 7 years. We made the change to top load and we happy with our purchase. This washer can do the entire load in one wash. It's great because it cuts down our laundry time. All the settings are intuitive, plus the washer comes with many options. Highly recommend it.

We’ve only had it two weeks but have appreciated the large capacity and the easy access. We had a front loader before and find the top loader to be a welcome change. Clothes are cleaner than those washed in our old machine.

It holds a lot of laundry! And it's quiet, cleans well, has a lot of options, and finishes quickly. And my area utility company has a large rebate for its purchase due to its high efficiency rating. A great buy!

Our old washer was a Whirlpool and only lasted 6-7 years. I’m not sure why, we’re not hard on washers but do wash blankets and rugs all the time due to our dogs. We’ve had this new LG for a month and really like it: it senses how much water to use and displays the time it will take after you start a load. It plays a tune when the load is done. There’s also an app to check on the progress of s load. You can also somehow troubleshoot problems using technology and remotely start a load, but I’m not sure why you would want to put clothes and detergent in and not start it at the same time. I’ve only checked on progress through the app, which works well. We’re happy with the wash results. Our old High Efficiency Whirlpool washer left white spots on dark clothes, but there are no issues with the LG. It’s supposed to be more energy efficient, too. I submitted the rebate request to our electric company and they sent a response that it takes so many weeks to receive the rebate. I almost waited too long (submit within 30 days even though the rebate end date is at the end of the year).

Excellent washer. Took a little getting used to having the lid closed for the machine to operate. Also, adjusting to the water saving features that wieghs items and uses the appropriate amount of water. Soft closing led a nice feature. Large tub holds what used to be 2-3 loads in old machine and still has room!

Beautiful to look at and it gets clothes clean. You'll enjoy watching your clothes get clean through the cool glass top. It can handle an entire dirty clothes hamper - and then asks for more. The loads seem to take longer to wash than previous washer, but they are super clean when they are done. Spin cycle is mesmerizing to look at. Spec say 950 RPM, that is what made me choose the washer. The unit is super quiet when its working and makes a great chime when the cycle is completed. we also got the matching dryer. Never looked at LG, but purchased based on the great reviews.

It has no agitator! The agitator is the bottom of the washer. Its seems to be very smart. Only using a little bit of water. Its also very quiet. Great product.

Very happy we got this washer. The basket size is huge and works great for comforters and loads of large beach towels but you can also do tiny loads without worrying about wasting water (we are in California). The water level automatically adjusts to whatever size load you put in. This is our favorite feature but we also think it does a better job cleaning than our old Maytag did. We did not want a front loading washer so were happy to find a top loader with sophisticated applications for a fair price. Highly recommend this washer.

I struggled with the front load / top load decision and finally landed on this unit as I did not want to spend the extra money on the front load. After a month of washing every conceivable type of load from very small loads of delicates to very soiled jeans to bulky bedding, this unit has done a fantastic job. Absolutely no complaints.

After quite a bit of research we purchased this machine on sale for 599.00 and have been using it for about 3 weeks. Clothes are cleaner and less drying time. Hoping to save on water but will not know until we receive the next bill. When washing queen size bedding, including mattress cover, used to take two loads. Now it's one load with room to spare! Purchased the five year Geek Squad protection plan for piece of mind.

The capacity is amazing on this on this washer. Very quiet when washing and spinning. The spin cycle does a very good job of taking most of the water out of the cloths/towels, etc. I haven't had it long enough to determine if it cleans as well as my old washer, but so far so good. My wife loves that it has a chime when completed. The only complaint she has is that it sits high, she is shorter and has difficulty reaching items at the bottom of the tub.

    My third LG toploader

Both of the previous LG top load washing machines had their main bearing replaced after 3 years in operation. The top seal on the bearing leaks grease onto the clothing or towels. You have to watch closely as the machine ages for black spots to appear. The problem is not unique to LG. Before the LG's, we had two Whirlpool Cabrios that did the same thing. The most important point is to buy a 5 year insurance plan for less than $150, because you will use it!. We have had two of the last 4 machines replaced without charge by the insurance company. On one of the LG machines that leaked grease, the replacement part also leaked, and it had to be replaced after only 5 washings. Yes, they do make defective replacement parts. The LG is a fine machine otherwise. My final statement is : consumer beware.

Our washer broke down...and with 5 and 2 year old boys who think "mud is the greatest place on earth to play!", we obviously needed to get one...asap. We saw that this one was on sale and agreed the price is right. Although there were cheaper options from different mfrs, I urged my wife in this direction as our dryer is the same brand. I mean, come on, can you really have a washer/dryer combo that isn't the same!!!! According to her, you could. Lunacy! Either way, she agreed and when this arrived while I was at work, she said(get this), "you were right, this washer is awesome." Forget about the rest of the quote after the comma, I just got my wife to admit something that husbands rarely hear from their wives! But as her statement ended, so did my dreams of being right about a bigger tv. Honestly, this unit has a capacity that I have never seen before. I do laundry once a week(my wife does more...but it's kid clothes included) and it doesn't even fill this one up. Most importantly, great product at a decent price. I would highly recommend this to anyone who does large loads(children, comforter) as this will handle it all.
