Customers often highlight the exceptional picture quality, with vibrant colors and crisp images, as a major selling point of the 65" Class GX Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV. The sleek design and the inclusion of a flush wall mount also receive positive feedback. While some customers express concerns about the price, many believe it is justified by the overall quality of the TV.

An industry-best panel plagued by LG firmware

Simply put, the panel in this TV is one of the best on the consumer market right now, but if you're reading this, you probably already know that. The GX models are exactly the same as the CX internally, with the main difference being the physical exterior. These GX displays are very thin and designed to fit flush against a wall. We purchased the 65 inch model (and also the matching LG GX Soundbar, reviewed separately).
The aesthetics of this TV once wall-mounted are stunning (see pictures). Of note, is if you don't want to wall mount it, you need to purchase the legs separately (which I believe also contains the back panels for the cable management compartments, not included in the main TV box). Even though the TV is thin, it's very heavy and requires two strong people to safely wall mount. The proprietary wall mount is also rather confusing to install. If you're installing into drywall with studs, know that the mount is made for 16 inch studs, with almost no adjustment for deviation, so if you're trying to center it somewhere, take that into account. The cable management in the back is also not great. If the TV would have included the cable comparment covers for the back panel, it'd be much less frustrating. If you have 4 thick HDMI cables, it becomes challenging to run the cables in such a way that the TV still sits flush on the wall.
None of that is my reason for knocking a star off, though. LG's firmware issues they had with last year's models have continued into this year's. Specifically, as you can find with some Google searches, there is a whole host of problems with getting G-Sync to work correctly when hooked up to a PC at 4k 120hz (using an RTX card), and requires a LOT of configuration and tweaking both on the TV and GPU driver (it definitely doesn't "just work"). I've also experienced a lot of inconsistencies using this TV's eARC implementation with the matching GX soundbar, where input changes can cause audio to drop completely, requiring a full power cycle.
Speaking of eARC, this is my main reason for knocking off the star: the X models do not support DTS decoding in ANY capacity, INCLUDING ARC/eARC passthrough. Which renders the benefits of eARC (mostly multichannel 5.1+ sound) void for a very big use-case for those of us with a large media collection (ahem, if you're a Nolan movie fan, better find alternative audio streams or a blu ray player that can decode/transcode the DTS stream for the GX!).
Our particular OLED panel did come with a decent amount of vertical banding in the 5-20% greyscale range. However, it has improved over time, with it now only being apparent up to about the 10-15% range. This isn't necessarily a negative, as all OLED panels of this physical size suffer from some kind of vertical banding visible in certain greyscale ranges. Also worth noting is to not necessarily fall for the Dolby Vision marketing. This panel is nowhere near capable of producing the 12 bit color depth to even worry about it -- it's all marketing.
As for the positives: the picture on this thing with 4k HDR content is truly breathtaking. Even more so once you get it working with some games beyond 60fps into the 120 range. The perfect contrast on this thing completely makes up for (and exceeds) any color depth shortcomings with competing Samsung models. The actual experience of watching content on this screen simply can't be beat - this is the pinnacle of normal consumer TVs right now.
The gallery app that displays art is a very nice touch. It would be nice to see more customization options with it though. All other apps and smart TV functionality works incredibly smooth.
Another surprising positive is the quality of the internal speakers. For a TV this thin, they have a lot of depth in sound. External speakers will of course be better, but I was not expecting the GX model speakers to be this good out-of-the-box.
Overall, one of the best TVs your money can buy right now. For me, however, the peculiarities with LG's firmware, G-Sync and eARC issues, and complete lack of DTS passthrough, significantly takes away from what is otherwise a perfect consumer TV for the aesthetically-conscious.

Amazing picture quality! The LG - 65" Class GX Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV is a beautiful product and well worth the price. If you are sitting on the fence trying to decide between the BX, CX, or GX model, stop waiting. The GX is worth the extra price point and you will not be disappointed. The TV is super thin and comes with it's own wall mount that allows the TV to sit flush with the wall as long as your outlet is not in the way. The functionality of the LG Smart webOS provides access to all the popular streaming services and the setup user friendly and easy to follow. I was also concerned about the size, wondering if I could get the 77", but by using the measuring guide offered by Best Buy, we made the right decision. I highly recommend this model and size. When not watching amazing content that looks way to real, we enjoy the picture gallery function as well. Again, it is well worth it!

Wow. That's what I can say. I mounted it above my fireplace replacing a 65 inch LG Nano which also has a superb picture, but not OLED quality. Was worried about the burn in, but the TV automatically switches to a screensaver on its own. Fantastic picture and decent audio considering it so thin. Love the way its sits on the included wall mount bracket and lays right on the wall. Sick! Nice job LG. I was a huge Samsung fan, but started switching over to LG with the previous 65" Nano purchase. Also, thanks Best buy for the no hassle and careful delivery during the Pandemic.

This is my first foray into OLED and I am just plain blown away. I primarily purchased this for my man cave to watch movies and play my Xbox one x on. I also chose this TV for the series x when that comes out later this year. The included wall mount is genius, engineered perfectly. I was able to mount, hang, and run the cables all by myself but probably would not recommend doing that. Even though the TV is only 68ish pounds it's not light by any stretch. The cable management on this TV is brilliant. It has little connectors on the back with grooves for each individual cable and little caps that keep them from coming out. I've never seen that on a TV before.
Picture quality is mind bogglingly amazing. Images are smooth with little to no drag like on lcd. The set has a metric crap ton of features which I haven't even passed the tip of the iceberg yet. I've connected it to some of my smart lights and switches but wish it would connect to my lifx light strips or nanoleaf panels. Maybe it does I just haven't figured it out yet.
I would highly recommend this television if you have the capacity to purchase it and not get a divorce over it.

I have 3 Samsung QLED TV’s and this LG is amazing. I was worried about an OLED because I have a bright room. This LG does fantastic even in a bright room, the color and clarity are amazing. I had it calibrated by Jason and I cannot believe how good it looks. It’s even better picture that Samsung’s 9000T 8K and the LG is thousands less. Very happy with my purchase!!

Bought this for my gathering room and even as a 65 inch, the rooms seem to swallow the TV. Picture quality is fantastic, easy to use and super thin, the primary reason I purchased it. I was a little disappointed that I was unable to find the table stand, as I wasn't ready to hang it on the wall. I am using a stand purchased from Amazon until I move it up to our Master bedroom. I will purchase a larger size.

I absolutely LOVE my OLED tv. The picture is perfect! The remote is very user friendly. The sound is great but I did purchase a SONOS soundbar and my new home movie experience is unmatched. I would recommend this TV any day! I also love the art gallery... pretty cool!

Best TV I have ever owned. I have owned two Panasonic TV (2002 & 2013) and have loved the pure blacks and great color, the LG OLED technology is just a follow on to Plasma. I look at Sony OLED but I thought the LG had a better user interface. I also considered the Samsung QLED which can get very bright for rooms that get lot of light but can also get light bleed which distort the color and contrast. The GX has plenty of brightness, my room has 12 feet of windows on the north side, so plenty of light, GX handles it. I also liked all the LG picture management functions. The OLED GX is rated #1 by almost every technical analysis. Lastly I wanted to hang this TV flat against the wall, this GX is the only TV that can be placed absolutely flat. I installed with 2 helpers, If your handy go ahead if not get it installed by Best Buy’s. If you haven’t upgraded your TV for a long time, you will love this new technology. Make sure you upgrade your HDMI cables, believe me it matters ( 48 Gbits), even though lots of people say it doesn’t matter, it does.

Absolutely mind blowing picture quality and even more impressive AI technology. Decided to test the AI by viewing some episodes of the Nanny that we streamed off of our computer. The TV up scales the image so beautifully and so crisply, I could even read the text in the small posters in the background! Truly amazing! TV really is flat and should be wall mounted for the best effect. OLED technology really helps us with our brightly lit loft that has windows on all sides. No glare whatsoever. Definitely recommend the LG 770 Watt 7.1.4 soundbar to really get all of the benefits of LGs Picture and Audio AI. Magic remote is fairly easy to use, although the curser sometimes loses track of where you’re trying to go. Only complaint is HBO Max hasn’t been added as an APP for download yet. Hopefully that comes soon enough. Also, I wish there were 6 HDMI ports as we lose one for the sound system and we have multiple inputs that go in. Luckily the sound bar adds two more. Overall very pleased with our new TV!

I got this tv for next gen gaming as it one of the only tv to hdmi 2.1 and it has blown all expectations out of the roof. The picture will make all other TVs look like they are from 2005. If your budget can fit this tv definitely get it.

I have mounted this TV on my stone wall on top of fireplace with a professional. The majority of the effort was to get the tv centered and drill through stone. LG GX 4K OLED did not disappoint l. The picture comes to life with sharp image and amazing contrast. For those who need their OLED TV flush mounted against a wall, this is it!

To start, this is a nice TV. Well designed with good sound and picture. However I’m pretty concerned about the durability. Bought it Open Box Excellent and rented a car to drive an hour to pick it up. It was missing accessories right off the bat and had scratches but the store manager said “Too bad and I could take it or get out” even though excellent conditions should be flawless and come with everything. Took it home and mounted it to notice a huge patch of burned in pixels. Looked at the TV details and it had been on for 100,000 hours, likely on store mode at full brightness. That’s equal to being on 24 hours a day for 14 straight months. Best Buy wouldn’t fix it and LG didn’t cover it since it was used for over a year already. So I had to return it and am out money for the rental and left with holes in the wall. Absolutely atrocious customer service from Best Buy. Beware open box.

Expensive? Yes! But it’s awesome. You can get the same quality picture with its cheaper brother the LG CX but if you want that seem less picture frame-like look that you can only get with OLEDs. Look no further.
