For my area, coastal Florida, a room air conditioner needs a drain to the outside due to high the humidity. (There is water accumulation within drainless units.) My former room A/C unit did NOT have a drain, there was stagnant water in the bottom of the unit. It soon had signs of rust and then I noticed black mold....most unhealthy. This Room A/C unit is a little noisey but it cools well.

I hadn't plugged it in because the weather was still mild. Once I actually needed it, it ran fine for about 30 minutes and then started running extremely loud. So loud, the TV had to be at top volume to hear. I asked BB about a return and/or exchange but was told I was out of the return period. I have been a credit card holder for over 5 years, but that didn't matter. I plan to close my account with them. I've had to call LG about "servicing" it but was told the loud noise isn't a malfunction. It sounds like a MOTOR in your home. Very unsatisfied. Purchase elsewhere with a better return policy. Best Buy has lost a loyal customer.
