I researched for months on buying a new tv. I’m not an A/V expert by any means but I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to home theater. We all want the best and biggest TV but let’s be honest, most of us don’t have the budget for the best. When your standing in the store, it can get overwhelming looking at all the different TV’s. Most of the time, a 1,500.00 TV doesn’t look as good next to a 5,000.00 TV, which brings me to the LG 82 inch LED. I got it on sale at Best Buy for 1,699.00, vs a 2,800.00 Samsung I was considering. Once I got it home and set it up, I knew I made the right decision. This thing is massive and after a little tinkering with the picture settings, it really came to life. Football looked amazing and the picture was extremely smooth during fast moving parts of the game. Blu-ray movies were even better. From Transformers to Training Day, it didn’t disappoint. Colors were great and darks were good as well. Not as good as OLED but for the price difference, it’s a no brainer. I did invest in some better quality high speed hdmi cables, which seemed to make a difference. After 3 weeks, I get happier with my purchase each time I watch It. I went from a 65” Samsung to this and it’s a huge difference. I encourage you to invest in a good quality sanus mount as this TV weighs 100 lbs. I got one at best buy for a 100 bucks and am very happy with it. This TV won’t look as good as the 5,000.00 Samsung’s and LG’s it sits next too, for many reasons. But if your on a budget like me, you will be thrilled with it when you get it home and on the wall.

I have a 55in same LG Modle. Loved it a lot. I would had given this a 5 start but the first tv I got in messed up less then 24 hrs after install. (The screen looked like it was cut in half and one side worked normal.) Best Buy was on top of it and had me a new tv the next week no hassle and installed. I love the remote on this tv, the picture is perfect but the sound could be better. Over all I was happy enough to buy the tv two times- two different sizes. It’s a great quality picture with many settings to personalize you watching experience.

The picture is darker than I expected. We moved up from a Samsung 75”. This tv has good motion so all the sports I watch are better than the old tv. Still trying to dial in the settings to find the exact best picture. Quite a few different picture settings. Overall no complaints. The only reason I didn’t rate a 5 star is the darker picture and the hd shows on direct tv don’t seem to have quite the contrast I expected. But 82” for less than $2k, no complaints!

Had a hard time choosing between the 82” LG and a 75” Vizio P series. I’m so glad I went with the LG. Easy set up, crystal clear picture and the apps load so much faster than our Vizio E series.

Purchased the LG 82" tv to replace an LG 60" on a wall mount. The tv is much bigger than the 60". Color and clarity is just as good as the previous tv. This tv has a lot of features to control the picture and sound. Video game systems like the PS$ and Xbox One X look awesome on this tv. HDR changes the game play completely. TV is quite heavy so make sure to have 2-3 people mounting it or have Geek Squad do it for you!

Amazing quality and size for the price. LG has crafted a real masterpiece with this tv. It does weigh a ton though, and mounting is really tough, but it is an 82" TV so can't be light as a feather. I have no cons, just with the darks were just a bit darker. With some tweaking of the picture settings, you can really get your money's worth and then some!

The price point was my decision on the purchase. This TV has everything I need for external connections compared to the smaller 75 and 65 inch sized screens with only 2 hdmi ports etc. I love the smart remote for the tv. Most of the other connected devices I can use with this remote ALMOST 100% compatible.

I got this for my gaming and movies. It's paired with some crazy good surround sound which completes the package. I tell people all the time a movie is so much better with better sound, but this TV gives the picture you need with great sound. I love the magic remote. I got another TV of different brand and I like this one so much more. You can't go wrong with LG. I've never had a single problem with an LG product. My first 80" cost me $5600! This thing was waaaay less. Technology.

BLUF: Pleased so far, good display quality (in 82” size) for watching movies and TV shows, great price when discounted, semi-smart app offerings, not a flagship model but priced accordingly Upgraded from a 2012 Sharp LC-60LE847U (60” LED 1080p) to this 2019 LG 82UM8070PUA (82” LED 2160p). Had a budget and thanks to the price match policy at Best Buy I was able to get an 82” model for less than what I might have paid for a comparable 75” model. Was able to order over the phone and take delivery less than two hours later using curbside pickup. The box was very heavy (~125 lbs.) and large, it barely fit in the 5’7” bed of a full size crew cab pickup. Did a lot of research before choosing this model, went with 82” size instead of 75” or 86” size based on reviews from rtings.com on YouTube. I really wanted the 86” size but that (and the 75” size) uses an IPS panel. The 82” size uses a VA panel instead which has much better contrast but worse viewing angle performance. The room I wall mounted this in is 14' wide by 40' long so the viewing angle isn’t a concern. My family has watched all three of the LOTR extended edition movies on this so far in 4K streamed from Amazon Video and performance has met expectations. This is not an OLED unit, then again it is not priced like those either, and I don’t consider myself an enthusiast who cares deeply about the intricacies of HDR. My goal was to get as large of a display size that I could afford with a decent bezel aesthetic. Thickness didn’t matter too much since it is wall mounted in a long room. I was also able to discontinue using a Roku for up-to-date streaming apps because what LG offers on the set itself via WebOS is adequate; some notable omissions include apps for HBO Now and Amazon Music Unlimited. As workarounds I will resort to using HBO through Amazon Video instead and Alexa for Amazon Music Unlimited.

Returned a 75’ Sony for this. So glad I did. The Sony interface was so old, slow, and outdated. Even the controller was from 30 years ago. This thing is light years ahead of the Sony technology. Controller is good. Could be great. Picture is great. The 75’ version was slow and you could tell lag but this is one is great! Picture quality and interface is great! Apple Play is clunky but better than no option on the other smart TVs.

I purchased this tv on sale at a price no one could match. I'm very pleased with the picture quality and the speakers but I will be adding a sound bar. The HDR is amazing and the colors are vibrant. Playing video games on it is awesome as well. This tv offers a lot and LG has always been a quality tv in my home. I purchased this tv new for under a thousand dollars. Great for movies, sports, and quality picture that will blow your mind.

I previously owned a 85" Sony 850F tv so I can give a good comparison of the two as well as give a fair review of this LG 82" tv. This tv's picture quality did not impress me immediately out of the box. So here are some tips for best picture quality. Go to standard picture mode. Turn off dynamic contrast and dynamic color. Set gamma to medium. Set color to 50. Set color balance to 0. Set aspect to original and turn on Just Scan setting. Pros: Good upscaling. The LG 82" tv upscales older movies from the 80's and 90's very well. It also upscales 1080 content to near 4k quality. Color balance is good once all processing is turned off. Black levels are very good for a TV in this price range. The LG 82" has a VA panel and not a IPS panel which are known for terrible blacks. This is the sole reason I went with the 82" model instead of the LG 86" which has a IPS panel and mediocre blacks as a result. The LG 82" TV has good reflection handling during the day with ambient light coming from side windows and kitchen lights. Cons Screen tends to appear a bit washed out when viewed from extremely wide angles close to 90 degrees off axis which is typical for a VA panel. Brightness is good but not comparable to Samsung or Sony. This TV maxes out at around 230 nits while the Sony and Samsung are putting out double that amount or more. Though this was not a con for me because large, extremely bright displays cause me to have severe eye fatigue after a few hours of viewing. In comparison to my 85" Sony 850F, I would say this LG 82" tv comes close in many regards. The Sony had slightly better color processing, slightly better upscaling, and better brightness. The LG 82" TV has better black levels and better reflection handling than my Sony 85" 850F tv. However, they are close in overall picture quality and the LG 82" TV was half of the price I paid for the Sony 85"TV. So I'd say that is a heck of a value and the best praise I can give LG for this 82" tv.

The TV screen picture, depth, and clarity are fantastic. Especially for its price point. The smart TV features are easy to navigate. The only con is the AI feature is pretty annoying. However after doing the Best Buy compare feature, this TV had the most features relative to price. Would recommend to anyone.
