I needed an optical drive as my 2018 Mac (as well as my work MBP) does not have one. This was primarily to pull archived MP3 data of albums burned for storage long ago. On sale for $20 - the LG was a no brainer. For Mac, none of the included software is required.. fires right up (in my case USB-A>USB-C).. Reads everything I’ve thrown at it so far.. Data discs took a little longer, but got there. 4 stars because the build quality is a little suspect. The pictures imply a metallic housing, but it’s most definitely shiny plastic. I’ve had great luck with LG.. and this seems to be no exception. Recommended!

This is great lightweight fast external drive. So far I have no complaints. It’s is slightly built but with good materials and craftsmanship. This means it’s not a drive you want constantly transfer to new locations. Overall a good producer

Needed for some old videos on DVDs. Was easy to set up and simple to use. Very inexpensive.

I needed a drive to download and install Microsoft Office on my new computer. Best Buy had this LG CD-RW / USB product on-hand at a great price competitive with other sources, so I purchased one. Using the included simplified instructions, adding this LG drive to my desktop computer was easy resulting in a flawless installation of the device, supporting driver and, ultimately, MS Office. It doesn't get any easier!

Very easy to use. I bought an Epson printer that came with a DVD setup disk. I tried to use the online instructions - REDICULOUS - so I went back to Best Buy, bought the simple disk drive, and 10 minutes after plugging it in, my printer setup was done! I guess you still have to have a disk drive!

The external drive is nice and is what it advertised. Product is real easy to use and runs very good. I love it and enjoy using it. Definitely worth the buy from what I can see.

I first connected it to my MacBook Air with a USB C to USB connector and it did not work. Then I connected it to a USB type C Hub Pro, and it has worked flawlessly. And it is quiet.

The unit works great for adding dvd capability to a newer computer without built in dvd capability.

I was never a fan of LG for drives before, but I found this to be less expensive (was on sale for $24.99 before tax); than other brands like Verbatim, Lenovo, Dell and HP ($10.00 to $40.00 lower). Although more pricier than my initial budget I decided to give it a try based on cost only. To my surprise it was readily recognized when I connected it to my PC. My only concern now is durability and longevity. This portable LG external DVD writer with: 8x DVD and 24x CD write speeds is not bad so far. As suggested it has worked like a charm and I have enjoyed using it coupled with my brand new midnight Apple MacBook; one of the most superior laptops in the market! I have been extremely pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone in need. I am so thankful for the excellent assistance I received in making this purchase.

I am absolutely completely satisfied and grateful for my new purchase. First of all it was on the "deal of the day" deals, secondly I was awarded a $20 gift card, the price was only $24.99 so I only had to pay $4.99 along with free shipping. Moreso I can do so many things with it, I can watcg dvds, listen to cds and burn dvds/cds from my computer to watch later. It works great and I would definitely recommend purchasing one for those of you like myself who watch a lot of movies and love music.

LG External DVD Drive . We sought and purchased this external DVD Drive to store pictures taken locally and travel pictures taken outside the US. This device is available and easy to use by those who have and haven’t experience with storing pictures and sharing them with family and friends! We are so happy to use storage of photos! Thank you!

I purchased this LG 8x USzB Double Layer DVD RE/CD-RE Drive after I brought my new 24” iMac. It works well. I also had to purchase a USB Type C to A Adapter.

Originally purchased Apple's version, but I had trouble getting it to work with my Windows laptop. I returned it and picked this up for a lot cheaper. It easily works with my Mac and Windows.
