The thinness of this laptop is such a head turner that upon removing it from the packaging, I just admired it, like a work of art. Then I immediately began searching my desk for objects to place next to it for comparison. Lip balm, my mousepad, earbuds, the power adapter it comes with – anything to just make my brain explode with how thin this is. The kicker: the length of a microSD card is taller than this laptop when closed. Officially it’s .43” thick. MIND=BLOWN. Along with that thinness comes a reduction in weight that rivals nearly any electronic device in my home. At just around 2lbs this thing weighs practically nothing. Comparatively, it’s only 1 pound more than my new Pixel Tablet – except this is a full featured laptop. I truly enjoy the opportunity to bring my laptop with me and use it outside of my home office. And I’ve enjoyed showing it off to folks, too! While talking up this laptop’s physical appearance, let us dive into the rest of it! The 15” OLED anti-glare screen looks truly fantastic. It’s clear, bright, and very pretty. It’s made me notice the difference in my other non-OLED screens around the house. The keyboard is nearly full sized. Many 15” laptops do not include a numpad, but this one does. However, fitting in all those keys does require a few sacrifices. The arrow keys are mini versions, as well as the numbers of the number pad itself, including a similar sized enter key. I’m glad it’s there, but muscle memory from a full-size keyboard does take some getting used to. The function keys are also a bit more diminutive, but like the number pad, still plenty functional. Frankly, the only odd duck here is the power button, placed on the top rightmost point of the keyboard among the other keys. Surrounded by *, +, and the Num Lock key I have yet to hit it, but I can see myself accidentally putting the computer to sleep while in the zone. The touchpad is nice and metallic and has been a joy to use; both being precise and response. There feels like ample room for your palms when typing or using the touchpad. PROTIP: Windows allows you to customize gestures. For me, it was easier to adjust the touchpad gestures and allow four fingers sliding up and down to control volume up and down than it was to hit FN+F11/12. When the volume is too low or loud, you tend to want to adjust it quickly. You can also, via the LG Smart Assistant app, lock the FN key, too. Lastly, ports! This is where the thinness of the laptop requires some more sacrifices. You’ve got a combined microphone/headphone jack, and three USB-C ports. Two of those three USB-C ports are Thunderbolt 4 ports. Think of them like a super-USB-C port. It combines a power port, USB port, and a video out port. Yes, this does mean that you do NOT have larger USB-A ports or an HDMI out. TAKE NOTE OF THIS! There’s a good chance your external monitor or mouse may not be usable with his laptop out of the box because of its only USB-C connection. Should you need to connect such devices, your best bet is to get a small Thunderbolt compatible hub. Most will provide a plethora of extra ports so that you can charge, use another screen and several types of USB devices at once. The laptop is charged via USB-C. Included is a 65watt fast charger, although I’ve been fine using other, slower, chargers with it. As for using the laptop itself, if you’ve used any Windows machine, this will be no different. Preloaded with Windows 11, it’s a fairly simple procedure to get going. But, as with all Windows machines, you’ve got your first day of work cut out for you. Update, update, update, install what items you want/need, remove what you don’t. In terms of ‘bloatware’ there’s not too much pre-installed outside of the LG programs, but there’s a few items that you may/may not want, such as McAfee anti-virus. The LG preinstalled software is kind of a mess of several apps, but nothing is particularly intrusive. There’s an update tool, which helps keep you up to date with important system updates. There’s also the Smart Assistant, which is the main tool for your specific laptop settings such as locking the function key, keyboard lighting, shortcuts, USB-C charging when the laptop is off, color setting for the monitor, and more. There’s an emphasis on the newer Windows Hello feature of logging in with facial recognition. It works well in a variety of lighting situations I’ve been in and it’s neat as heck. There’s several LG provided applications that can take advantage of facial recognition and tracking. They do things like allow the computer to lock when it doesn’t detect you, move/snap windows when using multiple screens, and a security feature to identify when someone is creeping at you and looking at your screen from behind you. That one definitely gave me a few false positives that ever so briefly had me convinced there was someone else in my house with me. I have no empirical data, but I’d imagine that constant use of camera functionalities will result in some decreased performance and/or battery life. Apart from using the facial recognition to log into windows, I’ve not really used these additional programs but I’d consider it if I was working more from public spaces. As for performance, this laptop has handled everything I use for my work day well. This includes but is not limited to having the following open at once: Chrome with 3 tabs, Firefox with 3-5 tabs, Spotify, Slack, Discord, QuickBooks Online desktop app, and Microsoft Office (typically excel or word). I’ve not had any issues handling this, nor when watching online video at full screen. I will say that after a while of using Google Meet for a video call, I did notice the bottom of the laptop getting a little too hot to keep on my lap/hold, but no performance issues. Regarding performance, this is not a laptop I’d use for power computer tasks. You could probably run some simple games on there, but once you get into 3D graphics – be it for work or gaming – you’re probably going to notice that the integrated graphics chip is simply not enough. While the Intel 13th generation processor is pretty good and they do advertise you can do video editing, you’ll have to use your own judgement and do your own research to see if this can handle such specific tasks well. Lots of power-hungry applications need a lot more: dedicated graphics and lots of cooling. This is a laptop great for daily productivity and entertainment, but likely less so for gaming and other intense usages. As far as battery life goes, I’m happy to report that this has been excellent so far. I haven’t done any stress testing, but this battery has lasted for days with sporadic usage. It’s going to vary depending on what you’re doing, but I’m sure you’ll easily get a whole day without any concern. Honestly the weakest part of this system is likely the speakers. And, well, they’re fine. Again, the thinness of such a laptop requires some sacrifices and the speakers are part of it. They’re perfectly acceptable and worked very well for background music and even for video conferencing. However, if you’re after GOOD sound, you’ll want to connect to speakers or a headset. You’ve got Bluetooth and a headphone jack, so you’re set to connect to anything necessary. And, to be honest, I’ve yet to see any laptop that holds a candle to any external speaker of headphones. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this laptop. For a daily driver computer, it simply works. If I had to find anything to complain about, it’s that it’s almost TOO small. I do have a real fear of snapping it in half, likely because I’ve been brought up to feel that anything this thin and light is cheap. This is not cheap, however. This is a quality laptop through and through. Yes, there are some minor sacrifices to obtain such a small size, but if you’re the type of person who is working from the road a lot and don’t require the needs of a much larger, beefier machine then you’re going to be thrilled at how portable this is. As for me, I’m looking forward to future travel, just so I can bring this laptop with me.

The LG Gram is an amazing laptop. This is my 2nd Gram. This thing is incredibly lightweight and slim. Feels so nice, perfect to tote around at school or for travel since it’s so light. The screen is fabulous looking, bright and crisp to look at. Set up was easy, but needed a lot of updates. Important note, this is not a touch screen but don’t let that deter you! The screen is so clear to look at you wouldn’t want smudgy fingerprints on it! The keyboard is nice, includes a compact 10 key, responds well, & is not loud. I found the facial recognition doesn’t work great, despite me trying to configure it a few times, but that isn’t a deal breaker in the slightest. Battery life seems just ok, but it does charge quickly. The charge cord and adapter are small, another bonus for your bag when lugging your laptop around! Plugged in this is great for movie watching with the incredible screen. Overall I think this is a fabulous laptop, and a great choice for students or frequent travelers who want the larger screen.

Great performance and battery life. Use it for my business and it hasn't let me down yet. Even do the occasional gaming on it. Handles 2d and Retro/Basic 3d titles extremely well. The OLED screen looks good and pulls off some nice HDR, but it will only go Into HDR if it is plugging into the wall and is only 1080p, which I'm not complaining about, but some may not prefer that. Couple downsides is that the LG software blocks Intel graphics driver from updating, so the Iris XE graphics may not benefit from driver updates as readily. Overall though has been amazing for productivity and beyond.

Ultra thin portable powerhouse of computing

I'll open with - I love this laptop. I have a couple of wish list items, but this is the ultimate portable computer for non-gamers. The LG Gram 15 made me realize how much I appreciate an ultra-slim, ultra-light device. I've carried a top-of-the-line 16" ARM-based laptop for the last year or two - but going to the LG Gram was a nice change of pace. When it comes time to refresh my device, I tend to alternate between "I need a mega powerhouse with huge battery life" and "I'm tired of lugging around a huge device, and I want something lightweight," and the LG delivers in the latter case. The LG Gram has a mobile I7 processor, which packs enough punch to perform all of my day-to-day tasks - Word/Excel/Outlook, as well as some light coding and network management functions without slowing down. I have a habit of having tons of windows open, so 16G of RAM was a selling point for me - it seems that sometimes when you go ultra-portable, you sacrifice one of the big three specs (CPU/RAM/Storage), but not here. 1TB of storage is likely more than I'll ever need on a device of this size - as I'm leaning more on OneDrive these days to keep everything in sync between all of my devices. Battery life is good overall, but still impressive for a device of this size and weight – 2 pounds, 2.7 ounces by my scale. As expected, the more windows you have open and the more intensive tasks you perform, the harder it is on the battery – however, there are times I can almost watch the battery meter go down if I have a lot going on. The device doesn't get exceptionally hot, which I tend to notice a lot, and it is very refreshing. However, the quiet but present fan does turn on when doing specific tasks - which is a good sign that whatever you are doing will be hard on the battery. Operation of the trackpad is easy and unremarkable - which is good because I don't notice myself complaining about button placement or sensitivity when moving my wrist or the bottom of my hand across it. The keyboard has a nice tactile feel for one of its size, but I find that the placement is very far to the left, and when I use natural hand placement, I'm always off by one row of letters. This is something that I'm getting used to, but not something that is a deal breaker. Including a number pad on a device of this size is fantastic - I use this all the time! The screen is bright and represents colors reasonably well, and gives you those inky blacks that OLED displays are known for; however, at the price point, I would have liked to have seen something higher than 1920x1080 resolution- QHD or even 4K would make this screen perfect. For business applications, it does work fine; however, that extra real estate would be welcome when working with spreadsheets. On the rare occasion I do have time to play a game, I installed Minecraft on this device, and it played exceptionally well - no lag and no streaking from the display - though playing this did chew through the battery pretty quickly. I did notice the internal camera captures an image that is dark/underexposed when on Zoom/Teams calls. As for I/O, the three USB-C ports work well - as I've seen this move coming and moved almost all of my accessories to USB-C. This also makes charging a snap, as it's one less charger brick I have to bring along with me - I can plug it into my USB-C charger that is part of my everyday travel kit - as well as get a battery boost on the plane from my USB-C battery pack that is also part of my kit. The included USB-C network adaptor works fine, and I was able to speed test around 950Mbps using it; no complaints here. One thing I loathe about Windows machines is the amount of vendor bloat that comes along. LG includes a suite of applications, including an updater for drivers/firmware, a user manual, and some software called Glance that is supposed to improve the usability of the keyboard and mouse. I typically brush these aside or uninstall them. Often enough, I'm being prompted for some update, whether it be something for the system or an update to the update software itself. Overall, this is a fantastic device, and if someone asked me which Windows laptop to consider for either the mobile professional or the student, this would be at the top of my list. I'd probably buy next year's model if it came with a higher res screen, making this a five-star device in my book.

This is the first OLED laptop I have used and I must say it looks amazing and bright. The colors really pop but it must be at 90% or higher in brightness or its difficult to see images. I usually set my screens at 60% but with this laptop its too dark and the images are not visible and looks dark, you must really set the brightness level very high to get a usable display. This is fine in a bright room, but if its dark the screen is just too bright to be comfortable on the eyes. Its thin, super thin, just a bit thicker then an ipad. I have never seen a laptop so thin before. Its also very light at just over 2 lbs, it weighs less then my 13" ultrabook. If you want an ultra portable laptop that has good speed this maybe the one for you. Good specs on this machine with a fast i7, 16GB DDR5 and 1TB m.2, I was able to upgrade and add a second 2TB m.2 and it was running at the full rated speed. The ram is not upgradeable so make sure that you get the spec you want. The keyboard is easy to type on, but I have to get used to the key layout. The touchpad is terrific, its smooth and responsive but it is not centered with the space key so its a bit uncomfortable to use. Overall a good laptop but there are some shortcomings. There 3 USB-C ports but no USB-A, this is really inconvenient and I had to buy an adapter to use my old devices and flash drives. Display needs to be on brightest level to see images clearly or they will be too dark and just look black. Boot time is horrendous, it takes about a 90 seconds to boot up, the BIOS screen (pre windows screen) stays on for over a minute alone. Super slow booting. Even when shut down they battery drains down fast, I lost about 15% in just two days with it not even being turned on once. I turned off the USB charging ports and it still drains while off. Runtime is not as good as I expected, won't last a whole day, maybe about 5 hours

    A strong Slim, Light Performer!

The LG Gram line has always been a strong performer in thin lightweight laptops. This iteration of the Gram continues with some new added features. It retains its main selling points by being razor thin, and weighing in at barely two pounds. This makes it a joy to use on a commute, throwing into a bag, and using it in school. The display on the LG Gram 15 OLED is fantastic. Being an OLED display has both advantages and disadvantages. The biggest pro to an OLED display like this one is the ability to display silky, inky blacks. With traditional LED/LCD displays the blacks tend to be a little washed out which gives them that gray look. That’s not the case with OLED like the one on this LG Gram. On the flip side, OLED can be a bit dim compared to an LED/LCD display. The OLED on the LG Gram is reasonably bright, I just would not recommend it if you are constantly outside in super bright light. Performance has been excellent as you would expect with a modern laptop sporting a 13th gen i7 CPU. I do heavy multitasking with Excel and software I use at work. I can have all my software open with multiple Google Chrome tabs running and never felt any studder. This can also be attributed to the 16 GB of ram. For normal use, this is more than enough to keep a smooth experience. The only thing I would not recommend for this laptop performance-wise is gaming and high-end video editing like 4K. The onboard graphics simply cannot handle the load required for those activities. Lastly, I’ll speak about the build quality, keyboard, and ports. Even with the thinness and lightness of this laptop, it feels very sturdy and well put together. Nothing creaks or makes noises when you move it around or pick it up from a corner. The keyboard is good, not the best in the business but when you consider just how thin this laptop is, it’s a good keyboard. I haven’t had any issues typing on it for long periods of time. The ports are decent but nothing spectacular. Theres a total of three USB ports with two of them being Thunderbolt 4, and one USB-C. It would have been nice if there was a USB-A included but I am being a bit picky as port adapters and dongles have become super cheap. In conclusion, the LG Gram 15 OLED stands out as a strong performer in the realm of thin lightweight laptops, retaining its main selling points of razor-thin design and minimal weight, making it a joy to use for commuting, school, or on-the-go tasks. The OLED display offers stunning visuals with rich, inky blacks, though it may be slightly dim in exceptionally bright environments. Performance-wise, its 13th gen i7 CPU and 16 GB of RAM deliver excellent multitasking capabilities, perfect for everyday use and work-related tasks, while falling short in handling demanding activities like gaming or high-end video editing. The laptop's sturdy build quality, comfortable keyboard, and a decent selection of ports, including Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C, make it a reliable choice for those seeking a versatile, lightweight device. Whether you're a student, a professional, or an everyday user, the LG Gram 15 OLED deserves consideration for its impressive combination of features and functionality.
