Another LG Winner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a long-time fan of LG products, especially TVs and home appliances, so I had high expectations of the quality of these Bluetooth ear buds. Overall, my expectations were met. The buds come in a compact case that also serves as the charger. Keep the case charged, and it will do the same for the buds. Even better, charging is fast, so even if not fully charged, the buds will play for a very reasonable time. LG says 5 minutes will get you an hour. A special note about the case: it is reported to have a disinfectant function to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria on the buds. These days, that is a very suitable function to have. No way for me to really test it, but I trust LG. For me, the fit was great right out of the box. However, there are other sized gel covers provided. They are so comfortable that, if I were not hearing music, I would forget I had them in my ears. And the sound quality and clarity are super: both bass and treble. Though I do not usually use buds to make/take calls, these have dual microphones in each to provide clarity of calls. Bluetooth connecting your charged buds to a source is very quick and easy. They have almost instantly paired with Alexa, as well as my mobile phone. So long as you do not go out of Bluetooth range, of course, there is no linkage quality lost by moving around. All functions for volume up/down, pause/restart, and play next are performed with taps on the buds. Not at all as complicated as I have found other brands to be. Another great product by LG that I can certainly recommend to anyone.

Excellent overall wireless earbuds

They were already charged out of the box, fit perfectly in my ear with the pre-installed gel pads, which almost never seems to happen for me. They paired easily on the first try with my IPhone. Be aware that these point towards your cheeks when wearing in case you expect them to point straight down like other brands do. The fit is very good. I’ve jogged and worked out without them feeling loose or even budging for that matter. While the Tone Free maybe isn’t the best sounding earbuds that I’ve used they really are pretty good. There are different EQ settings but they are only available from the Tone Free App. The App does give you 4 presets (Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost) and 2 Custom (8 level adjustment) which is nice. I found the Bluetooth wireless range to be excellent. I was able to travel 20-30 feet and into an adjoining room (door open) from my phone with no noticeable loss of signal. I wasn’t really able to verify the 6 hours of playtime but from my usage of 30-60 minutes at a time that seems plausible. The earbuds charge fast in the case and give you a visual indicator light on the case (red, violet, blue) indicator of charge level briefly when lid is opened or closed. You can also get a more precise percentage level for each bud on the App. The app will only connect to them though when the lid is open or they are removed from the case. For the most part the touchpad (upper part of the earbud) controls worked great but I found that sometimes it could be finicky when attempting to register tap(s) for specific controls. A really cool feature in the App is the ability to customize the touch settings to change what the tap sequence does (play/stop, volume, next). When you remove one or both of the buds playback of whatever you are listening to stops which may or may not be the behavior that you would want. You can resume and listen to only the one remaining by tapping it’s playback start control. The UV light that comes on for 10 minutes inside the case when plugged in to kill bacteria seems like a nice feature. I have no way to verify that really happens so you’ll have to take LG’s word for it. If I had one area for improvement it would be the User’s manual. While it is fairly comprehensive it is printed on a really long fold out piece of paper that has small print and mixes together English and Spanish paragraphs within the same sections. Overall, I would rate this a winner and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wireless earbud headset.

Totally useless product. If you think these sound good - you need to get your ears examined, or actually use a high quality pair of headphones. The audio sounds so compressed.

Tiny but Mighty

Well let me tell you just that. When i opened my little package i seen a little round black capsule , when opening the sleekly designed small Earbuds we resting snugly in their space. I picked them up and inserted into my ears . The earbuds fit perfectly and snugly. After downloading the app, I played with the eq to get my sound as I enjoyed it. I proceeded to decide to mow my 10 acre lawn earbuds in. Tuned into my favorite Contemporary Christian station and began my ride on the 1973 cub cadet. This ride is anything but smooth ! To my suprise I could hear my music perfectly as could I my motor, it's an older tractor so i like to pay attention. I began praising ( singing very loudly if you will) as mowing. My husband hollered and i reached up touched my left ear and the music paused. He was making fun of my attempt to sing. I went back to mowing. Enjoying the sound and crisp quality of the LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Earbuds. I typically mow for 3 hours and the Earbuds never once needed adjusted , even with being thrown around on my tractor. However the mower , well it may have gotten a little hot, I parked my ole cub cadet and went Inside to clean up myself and charge my LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Earbuds. I set them into the capsule of life (it charges them) and went back to put my tractor up, it seems that this time LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Earbuds Out ran my good old trusty cub cadet. Seems during my praise and supreme sound experience, I neglected to realize that my tractor was over heating causing me to blow the head. Bottom line , at an amazing price and superb quality the LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Earbuds are a must have! The sound quality matched with comfort will not let you down!

The older ones were better

I took these back after only one day of using them. They would not stay connected. It was difficult to answer the phone by tapping on the earbud itself. And it always disconnected.

Comfortable and Great Sound

They're very light and once in fit securely and in barely no time I didn't even notice them. The sound is great. The treble and bass come through and it's very enjoyable to listen to music with these buds. One great feature is the ability to let sound through by touching and holding on either bud. I use these during bike riding or walks and its great to be able to just reach up and put a finger on it when I think I hear a car or anything. Great feature. One of my new must have features in any earbuds is that calls come through both buds rather than mono. These buds have that. I work in a cubicle in high traffic area, so I must go outside when I have to make phone calls. Having sound in both ears cuts out the background noise and increases my ability to hear the person on the other side. I also especially like the touch controls, and its nice to tap rather than needing to press. Pressing makes the buds move and the ability to tap on these is one of the reasons they seem to disappear in your ears. Simple controls and the same on both sides, with the exception for volume. Tap once play/pause, twice for volume and 3 times to skip tracks. The volume exception is that the right bud is volume up and the left volume down. The UV cleaning feature is extra reassurance that they're clean. MY only request would be a battery level indicator somewhere on the case, but the wireless charging is great. These are great earbuds and I would recommend them to anyone.
