Great sound and terrific fit and battery life!

These earphones are fantastic. The sound quality is fabulous--it is crystal clear. The highs, the lows, the pitch, the bass is all distinguishable. I like my volume loud when I am lifting, and I can get the volume I need. The fit is also incredible—they do not fall out when I am attacking a rigorous workout. The battery life is another essential factor. I have to say, I can wear them a few days without recharging. Also, I have had some earphones/headphones that turned off when I am in the middle of a lift—and these do not—they stay on when I want them on. I am really in love with them, would highly recommend them, and glad to own my TONES!

    Pretty Decent Earbuds

Having now spent some time with the LG Earbuds I can safely say that they've been pretty good. Sound quality is pretty good for music and watching videos. While making phone calls and receiving them is easy and the quality of the phone calls, indoors and outdoors, has been pretty great. I can hear everything clearly and whomever I'm talking to can hear me. Battery life is quite excellent. I have yet to have to charge it again since receiving them and I use them pretty frequently. It also helps that the case they come charges them when they are put back in. One of the only things I didn't like, which was enough to knock off a star, was the fact that you can hear the earbuds producing the sound for the noise cancelling. It got in the way of some of the videos I watched and music I listened to. Overall though, good quality earbuds and I'd definitely recommend them.

So, maybe I'm showing my age (i'm not THAT old). But when I opened the box containing these buds, and then opened up the charger and was met with the blue light; my first thought was "These look like they are straight from a sci-fi movie". The UVNano technology which claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria also puts it into the above category. Whether it does, and who will check? But I don't think LG would tell us it would do this unless it was true. They connected up instantly to my LG G7Thinq when needed. The sound is very rich with nice highs, and (actual) lows. I was quite shocked at how good these actually sound. But with "meridian" sound, I should have known. Yes, there are controls on the buds. However, I have giant fingers, and people started to look at me funny while I was constantly jamming my finger in my ear and...... From now on I'll be using the controls on my device/phone. Unless you are maxing out the volume or are constantly on the phone for the entire battery cycle - you are going to get the promised six hours. Phone calls are easily heard, and those on the other end said I actually sounded clearer to them! Music to my ears, as I am no longer having to repeat my repeat myself. All in all, these buds are a winner. An upgrade for sure from what you most likely already have!

    My new favorites

I’m always looking for “the perfect earbuds”. My favorite pair of earbuds finally died after four years. Even before this occurred, I knew I needed a backup set because I knew my favorite would die, or I would lose them at some point. I prefer “in ear” over “ear clip” earbuds. It’s just a personal preference about how it feels and how the music sounds, especially on a morning run. My other issue with wireless earbuds is one of the buds losing the Bluetooth mid-run and trying to re-connect it. So, after having the LG TONE Free earbuds for a week, I think I’ve found my new favorites. It shouldn’t be a surprise that all products are getting lighter and still have great quality, but it does catch you off guard when it’s a natural fit. The earpieces fit snug enough where it didn’t fall out during three runs and never lost connection. I wore the buds around the house and while working outside on the car. I wore them for about 4 hours straight with no issues with the battery or sound quality. My only nitpick is that it took some practice to get use to the right number of taps to skip a song or pause playing. I got the hang of it after a couple of days testing it. If you don’t prefer to tap, then you can use the app.

I love these earbuds. The sound quality is outstanding, especially with the spatial audio feature. I feel like I am in a theater with surround sound. The echo cancellation and noise reduction features really add to the excellence of these earbuds - my phone call quality is very clear and the person on the other end can hear me with no issues. I appreciate the Ambient Sound Mode - a one tap feature that pauses my earbuds and lets me focus on my environment - important feature for helping me stay safe. The UVnano case with its ability to kill germs gives me piece of mind. Charging the earbuds in their case is very convenient and the case easily chargers on my charging pad. The fit I really want to highlight as I can wear these long term with no pain or annoyance - they are super comfortable. Let’s face it, Apple is the innovator in nearly all things mobile related over the past decade or so. When innovation comes, so come the imitators. And that is what exactly what LG does with the TONE Free HBS-FN6 earbuds. However, LG does a decent good job at it and gives Apple a run for their money in a few areas. In review: Setup – I literally opened the case and took the earbuds out and my phone has a request to pair. It paired immediately, associated with my Google account and prompted me download the app. After the download, the app updated itself. This entire process took 2 to 3 minutes. Very thorough and easy, far better than Sony and some of the other brands I have tested. App - Simple and easy to use settings You can control different modes for the sound modes, noise cancellation, volume, see battery levels and more. Physical controls – The HBS-FN6 has multi-touch controls that do take getting some used to. Sound and performance – I read some mixed reviews on the sound, but I personally found the sound to be excellent once I selected the “immersive “sound setting. You can adjust between treble, bass, immersive and natural. Each have their merits but do expect heavy bass, they are earbuds after all Fit, finish and unique feature – The Tone Free HBS-FN6 are well built but lightweight and well balanced. They come in a compact charging case that can charge wirelessly ( I did not get to test that.) The earbuds snap into place magnetically for a tight fit. And now for the shameless, nonsense marketing gimmick. The Tone Free are touted to be self-cleaning buds, thanks to a “UVnano charging case” that “kills 99.9% of bacteria. Utter nonsense. First of all, why? Are your ears infested with teeming bacteria that grow exponentially and infect you? Of course not. Does the “UV” clean dirt and debris? No. So what does really do for you? Nothing. Even if you wanted to share your earbuds, you still would wipe them down, right? This is nothing more than a gimmick designed to draw in people in this pandemic germophobe environment. Battery life – Average battery life is about 6 hours not including the 2 charging cycles in the case. This is slightly below some of the competition but I did not really find any issues. In summary, the TONE Free HBS-FN6 fit well , sound great and easy to set up. There is a lot of competition that does some things better at a bit higher price but overall the LG is well rounded package at good price.

I have been using LG TONE Free earbuds for the last one month and very impressed with its sound quality. The earbuds are lightweight too and stay comfortably in the ears. It has solid battery life and the battery lasts for 5-6 hours on every charge. I use it to attend my office conference calls and also for listening to music. I have also downloaded the TONE app on my phone to conveniently control the equalizer and ambiance sound function. When you open the case of the earbuds, the blue UV nano lights inside the case looks really cool. I would definitely recommend these feature-loaded earbuds to anyone looking for an excellent quality wireless earbuds available at a decent price. I have been using these LG wireless headphones for around a week. I have been using them daily at the gym. My workouts include weight training and running. The headphones stayed on my ears without any problems. They sound great and are very easy to use the features of them. The UV case is awesome for the anti-bacterial aspect of them. L They are awesome and I will be continuing to use them daily. The battery life through my hour and a half workouts are good. The charging case is great. It keeps my headphones charged and is very easy to use. I love that it is magnetic so they go right into place and charge. The ambient sound is very easy to hear. While listening to music if cuts out if someone is talking to me.

In terms of audio, bluetooth connection and performance, these have been great. I actually bought a second pair in white (can't see the black ones if they fall to the ground at the golf course). The only issues are: 1. be careful with the charging cable input, as the white case has to be just so for it to be charging. 2. I hate the earpads. I bought a set of Comply premium tips that were supposed to fit these LGs, but still not great. The right ear with the standard earpads just falls out. They need a better earpad option.

I like these bluetooth earbuds. They look cool and tiny, they sound great, the install was easy on my Galaxy. They did not come w/ enough charge out of the box to use, I had to charge them for about an hour to get started. The single button(s) control seems simple enough but did not work right for me initially and took some practice. The buds size is on the medium to large size so you may need to use the smaller gels if you have smaller ears, the regular size was tight and hurt my ears until I switched. So the sync up was easy enough after charging and uses a recommended app for better controls. But the app is not needed for them to work at all. I was able to play/pause & answer/hangup calls on the single touch but other controls like FF/RW and Vol Up/Down were difficult but I eventually got it. One touch(either ear) for play, two taps for ..., three taps for... I have not been able to explore the app thoroughly but it is helpful and I recommend installing. It's important to have at least a 50% charge out of the box so you know if it works or not (or the setup instructions should include charge as step 1) Overall I would recommend them, but the charge and figuring out the controls made use difficult.

These are very nice headphones, out of the box they have a very nice impression. Out of the box, they paired very easily with my phone, although they the battery was very low and died almost immediately. The charging case was also dead. A little unusual to have them shipped with basically no charge, but not the end of the world. Build quality is great. The charging case feels nice and the buds themselves have a nice, high quality feel to them. They are very comfortable and the sound quality is just as good, or better, than other buds I have had. They have features typical of high end ear buds, such as wearing detection that pauses your music if you take an ear bud out. This is great, however, it also causes problems. If I work out while wearing these, and start sweating, they start to fall out. If I reach to readjust them, it thinks I'm removing them and pauses the music. VERY annoying. I've already decided that I'll use these for walks or general use and not working out in them. Overall: They are nice, but don't plan on working out very hard in them as they will start to fall out and pause the music. The UV cleaning case is nice, but possibly a type of gimmick, not too sure, but I wouldn't rely on it completely. If you are using these for general use that isn't a hard workout, they are great!

A Solid True Wireless NC Option

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The amount of choices in the "true wireless" ear bud market grow seemingly by the day, but these from LG bring a new trick to the table. Is it enough to make them worthy of your money? The first thing I always consider when choosing whether to stick with a pair of ear buds is how comfortable they are. These ones are surprisingly comfortable, causing no discomfort over multiple hour long wearing sessions. The sit well in my ears, and feel well designed from an ergonomic stand point. I've found that this can't be taken for granted with all competitors' products. Next is sound quality. These do pretty well; they're not quite on the same level as my favorites from Sony, but they're good all the same. Bass is present and rich, but not overpowering (which is a good thing in my mind), while the mids and treble registers are well defined. Again, these aren't likely the best sounding ear buds in this price range, but they do a good job and should be more than adequate for all but the most stern listeners. After sound quality, battery life is quite important. These do fine. I averaged roughly 5 hours of play time with mine, which is enough for most scenarios, and given the convenience of the charging case, I don't see this is an issue. I'd love to have a set that lasted 10-20 hours, but given the size of these, that's not a realistic expectation. Finally, I look at features. These LG buds have a few interesting features, one of which that may be a selling point to many; the UV sterilization inside the carrying/charging case. Each ear bud has a small UV lamp that, when activated (which seems to require the case to be plugged in to operate) sterilizes the inner canal of the ear buds. This is an interesting concept, and if nothing else, offers a little piece of mind that your ear buds don't have germs growing in them. Also, the method of control for these is also interesting; each ear bud has a touch sensor, allowing for relatively easy control over what you're hearing. Finally, they offer "Ambient Sound" mode which I find to be incredibly useful when walking around in public. This gives you a bit more spatial awareness of your surrounding, and is a great feature that I use often. The one downside I should mention is that the accompanying Android app isn't the greatest. On Android 10, it leaves a persistent notification saying "Tone Free is running" which is quite annoying, and I also had a few instances where the app froze and crashed. It's not exactly a requirement to using these ear buds, but having things like EQ control via the app is a pretty solid feature. Overall, these are a very good option at the price point they're being sold at; they strike a good balance of "decent enough" sound quality with some really nice features, making them a good option for anyone looking for truly wireless earbuds.

There's a lot to like about this LG TONE Free model, but it just misses five stars. Case The case is great, like a black pebble. It's easier to carry than the Jabra, and a lot easier than the Bose SoundSport. The earpieces snap into place with magnets, and the inside gives a background glow when they do. This is supposed to be the UV sanitizing feature kicking in. I've no idea how you tell if this is working without lab equipment, so I'll have to assume it works as advertised. I admit that I wondered why the anti-bacterial features would be needed, as I don't know anyone who shares their earbuds, but then I got a bad ear infection, and was happy to have the extra peace of mind it brought. Earpiece design The earpieces come with antibacterial coating, and there are plenty of tip sizes to choose from. I found the fit with the medium tips to be perfect and the tip design and super lightweight construction was extremely comfortable. They felt secure, and although they have a slightly slippery feel to them, they stayed in place nicely. With that said, the extended microphones are not a look I would choose, as it appears that something is dripping from your ear, or you just had the world's worst piercing. App The app is easy to use, very straightforward. One thing that might throw you off a bit is that it learns what features you use the most and reorganizes itself accordingly. This means that when you open it the next time, options may not be where they were the last time. You will definitely want to adjust the equalizer settings here. Sound As one would expect from Meridian, the sound is excellent, with flat tonal response and excellent note separation, even at the low end. You're not going to get the heavy bass emphasis of Beats or the mid coloring of Bose, but it is a refreshingly clean sound. With the relatively low volumes you are hopefully playing through your buds, you will definitely want to emphasize high and low tones in the equalizer (as frequencies to not scale equally with overall volume). Calls And this is where it all falls down. I expected better with the droopy earpieces containing microphones. I have a deep voice, and a lot of headsets have trouble picking it up clearly. But, my voice was far clearer on the Bose or Jabra Elite Active 65t than on these. Overall If your voice carries well on these, or if you plan to use them to listen to music and not generally for conversation, and if you don't mind the droopy ear look, then these are a great choice. For me, they fell just short of the mark.

The LG Tone-Free ear pods are truly wireless, They are small, yet powerful. They come with an attractive case that is compact—just put it in your pocket, purse or backpack. The LG Tone-Free earbuds are easy to pair with your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Open the Bluetooth settings on your device, and pair the earbuds. They come with a charging cable that you can plug into your computer or any USB 2/3 charger. I have used these earbuds on a Zoom conference, and while playing games on my iPad. They are comfortable and block out much of the ambient noise. Touch the earbuds to turn on/off, to accept phone calls, and to play music. The sound is true and rich.

Disapointing LG TONE Free Wireless Earbuds

Per my review of these LG - TONE Free HBS-FN6 I give them a 3 out of 5 stars. After installing the LG Tone app on my smartphone and reviewing the features, I found everything within app pretty straight forward. You can set the amount of Ambient Sound heard around you but the external sound heard within the earbud sounds hollow and digitized, but a good safety feature. There are 4-preset Equalizer Settings as supported by Meridian Audio along with two custom equalizer settings. There are also Touch-pad Settings to customize how many taps are required for each left/right earbud to enable features such as Play/Stop, Volume Up/Down, and Previous/Next. Two very nice features that you do not see on wireless earbuds are as follows. First feature allows you to locate your earbuds if lost by enabling chirping sounds while in range of Bluetooth. Second feature enables a UV LED blue-light when charging the earbuds (with required charging cord) in their case. This UV LED blue-light is reported to kill 99.9% of bacteria on the speaker mesh of the earbuds in ten minutes while charging! As for performance of the earbuds I did listen to various musical selections via my streaming service and found the sound most impressive in bass and treble response along with spatial distance. The three supplied ear cushions for some reason didn't provide a customized fit and am required to adjust their fit in an ongoing basis. This is due to the fact that the fit is entirely dependent upon the compression of the earbud within the ear canal without any support of the surrounding external ear itself. Since the constant adjustment required on my part, I had to disable the touch features on the earbuds as I had the tendency to either change the volume and even disconnected a phone call or two. The second type of use for these earbuds and the primary use if a success would be for conference calls. I was not impressed for the following reasons. The first day I used the left and right earbuds simultaneously on the first day. I had 2 straight hours of talk time and 3.5 hours of stand-by time and they were at less than 20%. So for future use on conference calls, I am required to use one earbud at a time and swap to the fully charged earbud allowing for the first earbud to recharge in its case. In summary, with the lack of proper fit with the supplied ear cushions and no ability to have them lock onto my ear I always have to adjust to keep them from falling out, especially if walking for any length of time. I could never attempt to use them for running so they do not equate for sport use! Their battery life is limited for couple hours of music pleasure in stereo and if used for lengthy conference calls using one earbud at a time is required. For these reasons I would not recommend these earbuds. I hope you enjoyed reading my review and hope it provides valuable feedback in the potential selection of this product.

I will say overall these are excellent headphones, but I removed 1 star because I attempted to use these during 2 zoom meetings, and both times the sound came across very static like, and the microphone option did not seem to work as the other people on the call had trouble hearing me and kept saying I was "cutting in and out". So, besides that, I think these are excellent. I have always had strange shaped ear canals that have not allowed for me to use the earbuds that go inside the ear. I have always had to use the ones the hook over the ear. But, these for whatever reason, right out the box, fit great. I love the design of the packaging, and how the earbuds themselves sit and charge in the case. They have a magnetic feature that "snaps" them right in when close enough to the case that seats them perfectly every time. Also, as soon as you insert them into your ears they turn right on. Very cool feature. Only 1 button on the case which is for pairing, but I did not have to use that. Once in my ears, I simply opened up my iphones bluetooth and saw them listed as an option. Clicked and connected. listened to a few songs via my phone and they sounded great. I'm a bit bummed, as I originally picked these up to use for zoom calls while working from home, but they don't seem to work well for that. Otherwise, they sound great for music and phone calls. Recommended.

    Nice Pair Of Wireless Buds

This is a nice little set of wireless earbuds. I'm partial to the particular form factor these use and the quality of the sound is right on par with what you'd expect of them. The case is round and the buds sit horizontally a shape which I greatly over a vertical "pill bottle' type of case any day. That's just a personal preference though. I don't know how important or truly useful the internal UV sterilizer will really be. It seems more of a gimmick to me, but that said, it is nice that they thought to include it and it's not hurting anyhting. Battery life is slightly less than advertised, but that is fairly common among various wireless earbuds across multiple brands. It's by no means bad. You will definitely get plenty of playing time out of these. I will say that found it difficult to control audio playback and phone conversations using the touch controls on the sides of the buds. I don't know if I'm just not able to make solid enough contact with the right spots or the controls are not as responsive as they should be, but I found myself preferring just controlling playback from my phone. The iOS app is good and solid. I like it's layout and the intuitive, easy to use controls. When I first installed it it immediately found that there was a software update and installed it. All in all, these are no Airpods, but they are a solid option for someone looking for a good set of buds and doesn't want to pay the extra $50 for Airpods with a wireless charging case.
