Not compatible with the SP9YA soundbar
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This isn't a review of the speakers themselves but more a complaint about LG's anti-consumer practices. I purchase the LG SP9YA back in the fall of last year. At the time I decided to wait on purchasing the rear speakers, back then the SPK8-S, until I was ready for them. Fast forward to today and I was at my local store and I saw what I thought were compatible speakers. I take them home and set them up and to my surprise, they won't connect. I look into it more and it looks like these speakers are only compatible with 3 sound bars and the ones that I need are discontinued. I honestly can't fathom why speakers like these aren't backward compatible except, maybe to spite consumers. There would be no reason as to why a simple Firmware update can't make these compatible with my soundbar unless they're trying to goat people into purchasing a new soundbar since they now can't have the full surround experience. These will probably be my first and last LG audio products unless LG commits to changing their practices to a more pro-conmsumer mindset.
