Licence to Kill has a great plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Timothy Dalton in his portrayal of Bond fits the character superbly, bringing to life the charming, take-charge super spy we all know and love. In this film, Bond goes against his organization in order to take down a Colombian drug lord whose operation hit a little too close to home. The action sequences and special effect are spectacular for the time (1989) and it's great to see a strong female lead, Carey Lowell, dishing it out not just to the bad guys, but to James as well. He quickly learns that Pam Bovier is one lady never to underestimate. Robert Davi does an excellent job as Sanchez, keeping Bond on his feet every step of the way, and, Wayne Newton's portrayal of Professor Joe is priceless. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys Bond films or action films in general. It's worth it!

Timothy Daltons second Bond film is definitely the better, and one of the best in the series. It has a great villain (Robert Davi), and best of all, it has more of Felix Leiter than any other Bond film. A true Bond classic!!!!!

the nadir of the Bond series

Licence to Kill is my least favorite Bond because, first and foremost, it's a complete snoozefest.
Sure there's a sexy leading lady (Carey Lowell) and the appearances from Wayne Newton and then-unknown Benecio Del Toro, but the producers' idea of being more 'realistic' is really having more and more outlandish stunts.
There's also Dalton's Bond, who is probably the most unlikable hero in screen history.
Thankfully, the series would be back on track with the next entry, Goldeneye (even though we had to wait six years for it).

This Movie Ruined the Character!

Licence to Kill is the one of the worst James Bond movies in my eyes. The worst thing about it is not Timothy Dalton, oh no, it's the premise of him losing his licence to kill. I don't like the premise of that. I mean Bond is a government agent for crying out loud and being a government agent means you have the right to kill your target. I feel that losing his licence to kill just ruins the character. I will say that this movie had a lot of potential.
