Nobody can ever hear me when I talk on the phone and my phone is brand new so it has to be the case. Only thing it’s good for is “protecting” it. I would return it but I don’t have the box.

When you're putting your LifeProof on, we suggest sliding the phone into the case, speaker-end first, as that helps to ensure the microphone port is properly lined up. If you take a look at where the microphone on your phone is, and where the corresponding opening on the case is, it might help to make sure no case material is getting pushed in the way of your microphone.

As for the audio problems, double check that any "noise reduction" settings in your phone are disabled or set to "off." These settings often confuse internal reverberations with noise and end up muffling more than they should, such as speech.
