The LifeProof Wake iPhone Xr/11 Case provides a layer of extra protection for your treasured, but somewhat fragile, iPhone. With iPhones now costing $1,000+ it is very prudent to add a protective barrier around your phone to minimize the chance of damage when you inevitably drop it. The bigger iPhones (like the 11 and the 11 Pro Max) are much more likely to pop out of your hand while using them. This LifeProof Wake case is certified to protect your iPhone from damage in the very sad event of a two meter fall. LifeProof was founded in San Diego, California in 2009. It produces a line of cellphone cases, flotation cases, belt clips, headphones, chargers, arm bands and bike mounts. LifeProof built its reputation on the waterproof and shockproof cases it introduced in 2011. The cases are noted for their thinness, protective qualities and outstanding durability. LifeProof was acquired by OtterBox in 2013. Here are the key features of this sturdy case: • LifeProof Wake iPhone Xr/11 case (Model 77-65115) • Color: Neptune (Blue/Green) • Sustainably made from over 85% ocean-based recycled plastic • Mellow wave pattern on back improves grip somewhat • Raised bezel around screen protects glass from shattering or scratching • Certified to withstand repeated 6.6 foot drops • Designed to support Qi wireless charging • Material will not interfere with phone reception • Form fitting: 6.2 x 3.3 x 0.5 inches • Lightweight: 0.9 ounces • One year warranty (? – see below) The primary marketing feature of this case is that 85% recycled ocean-based plastic is used in its manufacture. This nice thought – help clean the oceans while protecting your phone from careless handling – is more fluff than substance given that the case weighs less than one ounce. Not really doing that much for the environment, but it sounds very woke. Installation is very easy. The case snaps around the iPhone 11/Xr with just a little effort. Once on, it is very secure and will not easily come off. The case is surprisingly thin and does not add significantly to the bulk of the iPhone. The full front surface of the screen is still accessible after the case has been installed. The appearance is very clean and the brand name is inconspicuous, just faintly embossed on the back. The matt finish of the case is non-reflective and is designed to resist discoloration from heat, sunlight and chemicals. This is a simple, open-face case which provides only shock protection. It is not water-proof and has no protection for the screen (other than a slightly raised bezel on the edges.) Once the case was installed I noticed that the phone felt somewhat slicker. LifeProof has designed the case to easily slide in and out of your pocket by smoothing its outer edges. I have mixed feelings about this feature. On the one hand it does make it easier to fish my phone out of my jeans, but on the other hand I am afraid that I will find that hand empty because the phone slipped out of it! The smooth surface of the case edges really did not add a sense of security, which is the whole point of a cell phone case. The back of the case does have a nice wave pattern and this does give a little grip, but most of the time you are holding your phone by its sides (which are slick.) I had no issues with charging my phone wirelessly and I did like the fact that the wave pattern made it less likely that I would accidently knock my phone off the charging pad and onto the floor. One issue that I have with this case is the warranty. Tucked into the packaging is a 28 page multi-folded document in very small print and multiple languages which purport to explain the warranty. It seems that the warranty is one year, two years, five years, seven years or lifetime depending upon which product group this case falls into. But this case name (LifeProof Wake) is not listed anywhere in this ridiculous piece of legal trash. Given that the case is just a single piece of plastic and that phones rarely last more than five years why not just give a blanket lifetime warranty? Remember, this warranty is just on the case, not an insurance policy against damage to your phone. So what rating does this case deserve? From a protection standpoint it is just average. Other cases give guaranteed protection from damage in up to 12 feet drops while this case claims only 6.6 feet drop protection. Further, the slippery sides may increase, rather than decrease the risk of dropping the phone. The sustainability element is nice but not really significant except as a virtue-signal for those who care about such things. Finally, the arcane warranty document alone deserves a one star deduction. Bottom line, it is a nice, attractive case and I could recommend it to someone who wanted basic protection for their iPhone, but I really can’t give it more than three stars.

This case is something a little different for the better. The one I received is the “down under” model which comes in green with orange accents. It looks pretty cool in person. The case has an interesting ocean styling but is different since it is made out of recycled plastic. The website advertises that it is made from 85% ocean-based recycled plastic, specifically salvaged fishing gear. In short, if you like sustainable products, this is worth taking a look at. In use, it does feel very plastic, but it is thick enough that it feels it will protect your phone well. It is supposed to be drop proof up to six feet, but I wasn’t about to test that. The packaging advertises that if you receive this case, they will donate a dollar to an ocean based environmental organization of your choosing (from the list of choices). The site is simple and works well. The case fits like a glove and is actually somewhat minimal in style compared to the gel cases I have been using. The wave styling provides an interesting texture for holding on to and feels nice in the hand. I think I will buy a 2nd one for the wife! Tip: It looks extra amazing in the green variant of the iPhone 11.

This is a great case option with a premium feel that provides good protection without compromising usability or portability. Pros - The gap at the bottom of the case makes swiping up for the iPhone multi-task gesture easy. - Volume and power buttons are easy to push (they are too stiff on some cases). - Wave design on the back of the case looks nice and gives the case a cool look without being gaudy. - The case has a bezel on the front around the screen and on the back around the camera that keep it from getting scratched. - All cut outs for for speakers and cameras line up perfectly. The charging port is easy to access and aftermarket cables shouldn’t be any issue. - A portion of the case is made of recycled ocean plastic which is really cool and you would not even know it. - I didn’t drop my phone, but the case sides are thick and have internal ribs that should give good protection overall. Things to Consider - The silent/vibrate rocker switch on the side is a little harder to access due to the case depth. It might be an issue if you have big fingers. - The case texture is smoother and harder to hold than I was expecting. I wish it was more rubbery, but not being rubbery means it stays clean and is easy to slide out of tight pockets. - The color is not a true blue. It is grayish blue or even blue green in some lights. - The gap at the case bottom is a compromise between easy access to gesture controls and protection (lack of bezel in this area). If you are on the fence it is worth a try in person, because it works really well for the iPhone 11.

The Lifeproof brand of cases may not be well known to a lot of people. But for those in the know, Lifeproof offers a range of rugged cases competing directly with OtterBox. In fact, it competed directly with OtterBox, that Otter Products (the parent company) eventually bought Lifeproof. The product I am reviewing here is the Lifeproof Wake case which is a one-piece case designed for the iPhone 11. Being designed for the iPhone 11, it has a perfect fit on the iPhone 11 including the buttons. And since the iPhone 11 has the same form factor as the iPhone XR, it naturally fits the later. (And even the case says so.) Of course, the camera hole would differ. The case I am reviewing is colored black and has a wavy design at the back. In pictures it seems cheesy in my opinion. But upon seeing the actual product, it is very cool. And perhaps it is also tied up to its ocean friendly branding, The plastic seems sturdy but it feels a bit slipper. Perhaps over time it will have a betty feel as oils may be gone from the plastic. Who knows? It’s still early to tell. The drop test is certified at two meters or six feet which I believe is rather low for cases made by Lifeproof (and Otter). Nonetheless six feet for me is more than enough for normal use cases. Also being a one piece snap-on case, it is not water proof nor snow proof in which Lifeproof is known for. Nonetheless, the Lifeproof Wake case seems to be a durable and stylish case. And definitely worth considering. I would definitely recommend this product.

This case is made for Iphone 11 or Xr, it is very well built, easy to put on and fits nicely on the phone. Good thing this case is slim and light so it will not add much weight or make your phone look over size. The wave lines on the back give a really nice look to the case. The buttons feel very soft to the press and respond very well compared to other cases I've used. The only con I was able to find about the case is that it feels kind of slippery when holding from the sides. I feel that maybe a bummer for some because with overtime it's just going to become more slippery. Overall this eco friendly case will do what it was intended to protect your phone and it does look nice. If you can pass the fact of the slippery edges then this case will do just fine.

awesome case. appears to offer a good amount of protection. dropped iPhone 11 while in case at hip height twice with no visible damage. the only complaint I have is that this case is less grippy (i.e. slippery) than I am accustomed to with cases. highly recommend

I really enjoy the material used to make this case. This Lifeproof case Is made with 85% ocean based plastic, an innovative way of helping our environment. With that said, that is the only positive thing I can say for this case. The reason why I knocked off two stars is because this case is way too slippery to hold in one hand. Even with the rigged design in the back, it slips. I’ve dropped it several times already and thankfully I’ve had a glass screen protector so nothing cracked. They said that it is drop proof for up to 2 meters, so that tells me they are already expecting you to drop it. Also, putting in/taking out the iPhone is a pain taking ordeal. I’ve used plastic cases before, but this one is not good. Sorry Lifeproof, your purpose in utilizing ocean based plastic is great but it needs some anti-slip material.

Lifeproof cases are pretty amazing. They’re called Lifeproof for many reasons. They keep your phone alive. Their products are durable and can withstand drops and damage just like how you pick yourself up when you fall down, and more specifically, this case was made from 85% ocean based plastic which is pretty amazing. What a way to turn essentially trash into treasure while being Earth friendly. It’s not “super” thin as advertised but it’s not ultra bulky either. It’s maybe slightly thicker than a generic transparent case. The outside feels hard like a shell with grooves, which makes me question how it survives impacts compared to more rubber-hard plastic-like cases. If you want to be environmentally friendly, this is the case for you.

Excellent slim case protection for your iPhone it isn’t waterproof nor does it totally encapsulate the phone but it does look great and is very slim and offers great protection from drops, but I would recommend a glass shield

Really like this case a lot. I've gotten several compliments on it too! I've already dropped my phone since putting it on and no cracked screen! Most of all love that it's made out of eco-friendly materials.

I bought this because not only was it made with recycled plastic, but I loved the dolphins colors on the green one! It fits snug around my 11 and it doesn’t feel cheap like other recycled cases. If I had to nitpick a little it would be that wished it wrapped around the bezel a little more on my phone. Another pro is when you buy this case the packaging gives you a link so that a dollar from when you purchased it goes to one of three foundations! Great job life proof and please continue using recycled materials in your products!

I haven’t had any issues with the case. However, I’ve yet to drop my phone. Hoping I didn’t just jinx myself. It’s lightweight and the design is pretty unique.

I had a case before that was slip proof and didn't enjoy it. This case feels so much lighter than the non-slip case but so far still offers great protection.

Nice case with a great textured design. Is the price worth it? If you want to protect your phone, absolutely.

Durable, affordable and love that it's not bulky. The item takes care of my son's iPhone. Works perfect for him, since he's always on the go and needs to keep his phone handy and safe. The Best Buy was also nice enough to price match so I saved more money buying it there. I was afraid it was going to slip out of his hand however it really does well and has grip enough to keep from slipping out if his hand. Hope you enjoy this product as much as we have. Thanks
