Black Tide makes this Metalhead proud!

It is refreshing to hear a group of young and talented musicians like Black Tide play Metal with a flair of old school flavor. Black Tide mixes it up with some Thrash and straight on old fashioned Heavy Metal. You are not going to hear over aggressive and over the top Thrash with "Light From Above", nor will you hear commercialized Heavy Metal. "Light From Above" is a solid and tight album throughout, Lead vocalist and guitarist Gabriel Garcia is a future star of Metal. He can not only play well, his voice is taylor made for Metal, both the fast and slower songs. Yes, "Shockwave" is catchy and fast, do not overlook that this entire album is quite better than the opening track. "Hit The Lights" is covered here nicely, a fine compliment to Metallica. Alexander Nunez on guitar, Zachary Sandler on bass and Steven Spence on drums round out Black Tide, they have all done a great job on their first release. The liner notes are cool with lyrics, background art, credits and band photos. It makes the Metal community feel confident knowing younger bands like Black Tide are taking the torch of Metal and running with it.

I like bands that can play heavy and technically (hard to play music), but I also like a heavy metal band with a singer who doesn't just scream. This singer is one of the best I've ever heard in a heavy metal band! His voice is full of variety which is a pleasure to listen to. I love every track on this album except the one listed above (That track is too repetitive for me.) I heard "Shockwave" play on 106.9 WCCC and was absolutely blown away! I bought their album that day! To descirbe them is like a mix between Guns 'N Roses and Metallica. The lead singer is the youngest member -- I think 15 -- and he's also the lead guitarist. They definitely have some '80s hair band rock and early '90s metal influences. All in all, these kids are fantastic musicians and should not go unnoticed. Go listen to their 30 second sound clips right now and then go pick up their CD!

These guys just blew me away after this release was recommended to me by a friend. It has all the elements of great 80's styled hard rock and melodic metal! Excellent vocalist who at times as a Mark Slaughter vibe goin' on...but has a much smoother delivery. The guitar player has some great chops and some stellar solos. This is just an outstanding release and it is GREAT to see that this style of music still has a place in the 'modern' rock world of today!! Very fresh sounding!!! And the members are just KIDS!! But it!!

    Real Rock and Roll

These guys played the main stage during Ozzfest 2007. Jager said they were to young for the second stage so Sharon let them open the main. The music will only get better as the band matures. They are from Southern Florida. Just listen to "Shockwave" and you will become a fan. They have also toured with Avenged Sevenfold. Proof that good rock and roll is ageless. Thanks guys see you in '08.

This band is amazing! The lead singer/lead guitarist is only 14 but sounds and plays like a true veteran. The entire band is under age 20. The sound of this band is really good. If you like Iron Maiden, you'll like this band. But even if you don't, listen to them. You'll like what you hear.

There's a solid album in here, with some of the tracks punching especially hard. Several songs might not immediately have the hooks, so you may have to force yourself a bit to listen through the album.
