Ishin is finally west side with a remake of the original. Set in the Edo period with many familiar faces cast as new characters and a new arsenal to fight with including swords, a gun and a style mixed with both, you'll take on samurai in this great new addition to the Yakuza series

9 years after its original Japanese release, Ishin finally gets an English version (and it's an Unreal Engine 4 remake!) so we can experience this fun alt-history adventure and its great combat.

The Edo era setting works well for this game. It plays the same way as the Yakuza games. The story is great and there is plenty to do.

Great addition to the Yakuza series. Game play is easy, explore feudal Japan with your favorite heroes. Graphics are good, the story is fun. Overall recommend to both Yakuza series fans and those playing for the first time.

Kinda torn. Alot like this game. It's as if it is confused. You have this gritty, intense story. Violent and bloody, it really pulls you in. Then you get to the free roam part. Quirky, goofy, & silly to a fault. Which isn't all bad cause it is interesting but it's, 'safe'. It goes from dark & mature to... Nick at night. The combat is a lot smoother but lacking from the likes of Judgment or Yakuza. It does, however, almost give me that samurai hack-n-slash feeling I always wanted--until the move list gets exhausted, dangerously fast. I'm only about 10-11 hours in and already kind of bored with the antics and combat outside of the main story. Sometimes you get harassed every 10ft by bandits or punks. Then there is the 50/50 voice acting. Main parts are voiced but out in the city its all dialogue boxes surrounded by lively surroundings. Its awkward. It really feels like this game, the 2023 game, could have been a ps3 release aside from the graphics, which are beautiful.

Genuinely a fantastic experience. I didn’t expect too much outside of a goofy samurai spin-off but it is so much more than that. The story feels just as if not more intense than some of the main games and it is FILLED with a lot of interesting and some of the most unique side content I have played in the series. Also I get to see Mine, Kuze, and Aizawa again s o.

Got it on sale for $35, I don't believe it's worth full price. As a fan of the series who finished all Like a Dragon games including Judgment, I say this game is great but the Playstation 3 roots are hard to hide and gameplay is nowhere near Kiwami 2 or Y6, but still great game especially if you like feudal Japan setting.

I never played the original release of this game, as it was only in Japanese. This remake localized and updates more than just the engine used to run the game. If you like any of the other Yakuza/Like A Dragon titles, this one is among the best, plus samurais!

I've been playing this one slowly to savor the fun. While it's not quite as refined as other samurai games, the fun of the Yakuza games and the quirky characters from the main games makes it familiar too. Story is epic, gets FAR more epic near the end! The graphics are not on par with Judgement/Like a Dragon RPG.

If you're a fan of the Yakuza games, you'll be happy to know this is very much more of the same, only in a different time period. Buy it, enjoy it.
People who are interested but have never played a Yakuza game, you want to play Yakuza 0 first. If you like that you'll most likely enjoy the other games in the series, including thus one.

Amazing game, especially if you have played atleast Yakuza 0. The standard gameplay is really solid, I would say if you are going for 100% completion, it is super grindy compared to other games in the series. If all you want to do is finish the game, it's solid.

If you love the yakuza series and judgment games….grab this. It was an incredible history lesson & the story is phenomenal. I bought this for $20 and would have happily paid full price after completing the game.

Nice change of pace from the usual Yakuza/Like a Dragon setting. This is remade in unreal engine, but it mimics the original gameplay, so it's mostly a graphical upgrade if anything. This time though, they released it overseas, so I'm cool with it.
