This review is for the 8 port switch. High quality materials, professional appearance. I'm using at home/small home business office environment but it would be equally at home in an office office. When first connected, I saw 10% of the speeds I was expecting on my primary device and there is no way for the user to configure QOS or priorities. Not sure why this made a difference, but here's what I did: disconnected and turned off all network devices. Power cycled the switch. Connected my internet connection in the first port. My primary desktop connected to the second port. My bitcoin miner connected to port 8. I will have other computers and miners connected down the road but for now that's all. Powered everything back on and WOW! Ping times and download/upload speeds are actually FASTER than before I installed the switch. I haven't experimented with Skype yet but "regular" VOIP calls using Ekiga and SFLphone are just as clear and reliable as they've always been. If you've read my other reviews on Amazon, you know I'm really stingy with my stars but this switch is absolutely awesome. Well done, Linksys!

Love this unit. Plug and play is always the way to go. Solid metallic body construction. Can be rack mounted, wall mounted, or just set on desk, table, shelf, etc. I ordered this switch to use with all my devices in entertainment system in one room. Was so impressed with it, I ordered another for the basement feed to send to other points in the house. Now I have an 8 port switch on my router, ( linksys EA9500 ), feeding an 8 port switch that feeds into another 8 port switch sending gig lines throughout the house. Have had both switches for close to a year with no problems and at this price point that's a win win.

The Linksys SE3008 switch has the basic features needed to add ports to a router. Our Comcast router has only two ethernet ports, so expansion was absolutely necessary. I am running Sonos gear, Bose Soundtouch speakers, Samsung TVs, Network attached storage, and a Philips Hue hub through the Linksys switch. Everything works well. I like the fact that the switch clearly indicates whether I have a gigabit connection or something less. For an un-managed switch, this is everything I need in a solidly built, competitively priced package.

I was looking for a gigabit switch and this is perfect for what I needed. Most of my equipment is hardwired, l have 3 smart TVs, a PlayStation, Philips Hue lighting, 4K AppleTv, IP security camera system, Directv and a desktop computer. On WiFi we have a printer, 4 cellphones, 2 Apple tablets and a WiFi only laptop. Thank goodness I bought this 8 port switch to accommodate all the stuff I have! This switch is perfect for our household, I think Linksys makes great products and I’d recommend anything they make to anyone.

I bought this to replace a 5 port D-Link switch I had that developed a bad port, and I needed more ports anyway. I had to reboot this onet several times when various machines connected lost connectivity. Eventually, I bought a new NetGear managed 8 port and haven't had a problem since. All my other home network gear is NetGear, so maybe it's some synergy, or maybe this switch has issues. I'd already thrown the box away, so I just kept it, and it's sitting idle.

    Poor Upstream Indicators

I haven't purchased a switch in a long time. I typically buy them to 'split' an internet connection to other devices. The older switches I owned had a dedicated switch for the upstream, or the internet connection you want to split. This product is awful at indicating which port that is, but I think it auto-detects what port has the upstream. I used two different ports for the upstream and it was able to detect and split the internet connection to the other ports. Overall, the 8-port switch does the job.

While going thru my network and PC setups with my geek squad rep we determined that one of the bottlenecks was the processing speed of my still reliable and still functioning Linksys 8 port attended (smart)switch. Since, it had been so reliable I upgraded to the same brand to get the gigabit speeds now available. Seamless replacement, noticed immediate results. I expect it to last until next technology upgrade.

I bought this as an upgrade to my old linksys 10/100, mainly to see if there was any difference with uploads to my NAS. I don't see any difference. My transfer rate to the Synology NAS is still around 35MBps average from my PC, using a 3TB Green Drive. My SSD RAID 0 was just slightly faster I think it was around 40MBps. My NAS has the WD 3TB Red drives Downloads were the same too. Streaming movies and music didn't matter, and I hardly download anything else. The NAS is mainly used as backup and to hold my movies and music.

I did my research, both online and with my local IT guy and he confirmed that all I needed was a switch with enough ports to hook everything to. I currently have a Linksys wireless router, but my new home was wired. So I shopped to get the lowest price in the quickest time. Ordered for store pick-up and it was there within three day. Hooked it up first night and everything worked as planned.

Product works fine, but not correct display on web

This item works fine and speeds are great. However, the image displayed on the website does not match the product I received. The website displays unit where power and ethernet cables plug in back while the front has all the display lights. The unit I received has power in the back but ethernet ports in the front, which makes it odd to hook up without messy cables.

Compact size making this Linksys 8 port switch a good unit if space is of a concern. I chose this unit for several reasons, compact size, easy setup, a unit where the ports are in the rear and the LED lights are on the front. Besides this is a very attractive unit. One thing to think about when buying a switch, if you think that you might be using more than 5 ports-buy a 8 port switch instead, you will be saving yourself some money.

I purchased this device because I hate having my devices connected via wifi but I had to many to use just the router so I need more space and this definitely does the job. Also for a few extra bucks 8 ports vs 5 ports is definitely better. Setup is as easy as you would think. There is none. Just plug the incoming cable into the switch. I just always use 1 but you can use whatever you'd like. Then the rest of the ports are for the rest of your devices. I love it.

Just upgraded my home internet to 1GBPS. Had 2 PCs 2 Xbox’s and a PS4 to hardwire to take advantage. This little baby does everything i need and more. Super easy plug and play, plug in your main wire then fill up the ports with the other items you need wired and boom you’ve got wired connections.

We have a whole house music and security system - all connected to an Xfinity WiFi modem. The modem only supports two (2) RJ45 connections which is not nearly enough. Adding this switch has made hard-wiring of select devices a breeze. It's worked perfectly ever since taking it out of the box. Not to mention is a breeze to hook up.

I ordered this expecting the device pictured to arrive but I got a similar build and model. It is different though. For my setup I need the power and connections in the back with the activity lights in the front as pictured but what I received has power in the back and data in the front.

I purchased this ethernet switch to ease the load on my wi-fi network. With the many devices that are running at once wi-fi becomes slow and unreliable. Ethernet connection is the solution. This 8 port switch hooked up my tv, hi-res streamer, cable box, xbox console, and two laptops. No more wi-fi issues!

Many switches are starting to include out of the box QoS but this one does it well. There are no bottlenecks and it is easily handling my gigabit speed network with 6 network devices. Nothing fancy about it, it does its job and that all you really need for a solid, well priced home network switch

Good quality device at a good price. I purchased this on sale at Best Buy before Christmas. I purchased it to replace a switch that would drop connections periodically. It does the job, and includes network controls that put it a step above some other units at this price point. Nice device I would recommend to others.

This hub works fine for all simple networking needs. I would have rather the signal indicators on the front and the connections on the back so it looks clean on a desktop or in the living room. I still believe a wired connection is better then wireless when it comes to all things that need bandwidth

I used this to help establish my Google Wifi router and it just does its job so well!! Just plug and play and BOOM! you’re in! Would definitely recommend if you have your router in a stationary location but need to plug in smart bridges and other devices directly.
