Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router's ease of use, range, performance, and signal strength, with many praising its simple setup and strong, reliable connection. However, some customers reported occasional connection problems and found the router to be somewhat large. Positive feedback also highlighted the router's good coverage, price, and dual-band capabilities. A few users mentioned experiencing lag, though this was not a widespread concern.

WE purchased this router as the router provided by xfinity was unable to send a strong wifi signal from our bedroom (where the router was) to the living room area. We were told this could be due to plaster and metal walls?! The people at Best Buy pointed us to this router and it works! Not only do we have a stronger signal in the rooms where we actually use the internet but the internet is also much faster.

    AC5400 Tri-Band Quad Stream Router EA9500

I received a free sample of this unit from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback You know this router is something special the moment you pick up the box. It’s heavy and thick. When you open the box you expect to see this aura emanating from it, confirming it’s ‘something special” status. There is no real set up of the unit like most other routers. All the antennas are already attached so you just pull it out of the box, plug in the power supply (which is big in its own right) and follow the included quick set up instructions. It’s that simple. The overall heft and antenna array require some real estate in your router spot for placement. It’s the size of most router, but because there are EIGHT yes EIGHT antennas, you want to make sure you have room. The set-up process was as easy as it gets, no disc needed for the quick set-up, which I do. I’m not a techie, just a run of the mill consumer who likes stuff that works good. This unit is replacing a Linksys AC1900 (EA7500). A solid performer, no issues except it wasn’t able to cover my entire home well. I have a large home (4000 sq. ft.) and there is one part of the house I can only get around 30% signal strength. As soon as I replaced the unit with the new one I now get 95% in the same area. How the speed? I use Comcast for internet and I have the 150 MBPS service. I ran speed test several times with the old modem and the same with the new EA9500. The results are below. Old Router: 175.32 (down) 12.44 (up) MBPS New EA9500: 181.23 (down) 12.32 (up) MBPS So, for me using the Xfinity speed test link I typically average between 160 to 180 MBPS even though I am paying for 150 MBPS. I don’t know why it’s higher, but as long as it’s more and not less, I’m good. The new unit on average performed a little better speed wise than the old one, but I wasn’t expecting a huge increase in performance speed wise. The key here is the overall strength and quality of the signal and its ability to effectively run everything I have connected to it. This is where the EA9500 shines. I have 14 network devices connected and this router runs everything flawlessly. There are plenty of network ports to plug into and there are two connectors for USB devices. I would highly recommend this router if you have a lot of network connected devices in your home and need strong coverage for all of them. Don’t expect some mega speed increase if you have a weak internet connection. It’s science people.

I bought this router in February 2016 to replace a ARRIS router/modem from Time Warner. There were two reasons why I switched over to the Linksys 1200 AC. First, I got tired of paying Time Warner to rent their outdated equipment (3 years @ $9.99/month). And second, my home is fairly large and I was actually using a separate Netgear wireless router to provide signal to a separate section of my home but was hit and miss sometimes. Once I deactivated the router function of the ARRIS by calling Time Warner and connected a ARRIS SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 I also bought at Best Buy and I was set. Time Warner even allowed me to keep their ARRIS because I still needed the modem portion of that box for my home telephone line. The setup was a breeze and this one router covers my whole house (4000 sq. ft.) and back patio with no problem. The Linksys has a user friendly IOS app which allows you to do any changes while either at home or away from your home. You won't be disappointed.

First off I want to say that I received this product for free thru the Linksys Friends and Family program in exchange for an honest review. I want to touch on three aspects of this router in my review of the product. 1. Hardware/design features. 2. Software 3. Reliability and functionality. 1. The design of the product is awesome I love the "throw back" to the good ol' WRT54g days, I also love the color blue. The profile is also a lot slimmer and has a smaller foot print when compared to the EA7500 which is also a fantastic router. This router has the ability to connect with ease to the Smart WiFi App on your phone and makes managing your network SO EASY. I also wanted to mention that the packaging/boxing of the product is amazing, I know it doesn't have anything to do with the router but you can tell a lot about the product from just opening the box... QUALITY and PRIDE. 2. The setup of the router was very simple this time I opted to go through the manual setup and it was a breeze, as usual with Linksys routers. Although anyone can setup this router with just the smart phone app you do not need to be a "computer wiz" which makes it incredibly convenient. I did hook up my external hard drive and loved being able to access my pictures and music from anywhere in my house, it worked very well and was basically plug-n-play. 3. This router has been installed for a couple weeks now and has NOT been restarted since. It's VERY reliable and I have been streaming, gaming, listening to music, and had up to 8 devices going at the same time my only limit is my internet bandwidth is about 25 mbps. One small complaint is that the range of this router was not as great as the Linksys EA7500, which is a newer product and a little more powerful in my opinion. I would really recommend this product to someone with many devices going at the same time. You get a reliable product with a great design for a fantastic price.
