Though I had to call directly to get help, the woman I spoke with was right in the states and was able to walk me through exactly what needed to be done. The customer service was top notch.

Died After 6 months

Everything was going fine until it died after 6 months. Luckily it was considerate enough to die within the 1 year manufacturer's warranty so I was able to get my money back. By that time I was told that it was no longer being sold so I had to pay an extra $15 to buy the upgraded version that was in stock. Not cool guys.

They charge for technical support

it worked ok for a little while, range was terrible but I called technical support and after long hold times I was finally helped. Turns out I had to separate the duel bands into two networks with different names, one was an N and one for my G network for some devices that could not detect N. Worked for about a year after that. Today my router stopped working so I called tech support. Sat on hold for a half hour before talking to someone, that person took some information before putting me on hold again, after a half hour I hung up. I called back and sat on hold for another half hour before being connected to a person, they took some information including the serial number and started telling me that "maybe someone reset the router settings" even though the network settings had not changed, and said we should reset to the internet providers connection settings, my provider is DHCP and that is what it was set to. Around this time the person informed me that I would have to pay for any further customer support since I had bought the router more than 1 year ago (I got it in July 2012)
DON'T BUY FROM LINKSYS, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AND THEY EXPECT YOU TO PAY FOR IT.

DOA out of the box

Drove to my BB to pick up a new router to replace my 3 month-old Linksys that kept dropping signal to every client in the house. Did not do any reviews on the other models that they had in stock, but rather headed to the store first. Had I done reviews first, I would have purchased the router that I have now (ASUS RT-AC66R), which is phenominal. I thought this Linksys model would be a good replacement, and it was in my price-point.
Got home, plugged it in, and no signal was coming out via wireless. Plugged in my laptop to the ethernet port, and nothing either. Tried all 4 ports, with no success. Plugged in my old router, and connected to the internet both wirelessly and via LAN. I surmised that it was a faulty router, so I looked online for some product reviews; sometimes there were "faulty batches". Had I known that this would have been the case, I wouldn't have wasted my time on this junk, and would have bought the ASUS. This will be the last time I buy another Linksys product.

This is a nice basic router but the parental controls are so restrictive. I cannot modify the times for access beyond what Cisco expected people to want them set to.

Slow wifi speeds if your speed is over 25mb

I tried this router for 1 day before returning it. I have 100mb download speeds and i needed a wifi router that can handle these speeds over wifi. this router could Not do this. the max speeds i got was 25mb with sometimes hitting 28-29. firmware update did not make this better. i read on line others had the same issues .. its a good router if your internet speeds are 25mb or lower. but if you have Really fast internet speeds then you need a much better wireless router. i ended up getting a netgear wndr4500 and with in 30 seconds i had 97mb over wifi and even more wireless printer worked instantly (this was not that way with this linksys router)

It's great....When it works

Worked great for the first few months. It then developed a nasty habit of shutting off our internet for 15 seconds when we would go onto YouTube and random times throught the day. Spent time with ISP but they couldn't find anything. Update firmware --nothing. We even moved to a different town -- Still Nothing. Never going to buy Linksys again.

Brand response from Linksys Staff

Hi. Thank you for sharing this feedback. We’re sorry to hear that our router has not met your expectations. There could be a lot of reasons why the signal is limited in your place, more often than not, wireless interferences is the cause of this. You can set a static wireless channel for the router (preferably 1, 6 or 11) to help avoid this. Here’s a link on how: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=136797 . This should improve the wireless signal of the router. Should you need further assistance, you can email us at [email protected]. Please include your contact details, location and a link to this review. We hope to hear from you the soonest.

I have purchased router to change with my old belkin router. I thought price is bit high but is is cisco and linkeys so I didn't mind spending this much of money. But soon as I tested internet speed, its shows only 11 mbps. I old router is even faster then this. I have call comcast to check internet speed from them and get a support. The tech guy told me I better returns the router and get new one. I am returning tomorrow.
