It's like watching the show again for the first time, only better since it wasn't in high definition the first time around.

Little House on the Prairie is one of the all time best shows that has moralistic reasoning. Very likeable characters all the way through. These shows were filmed not with the idea it will last generations beyond the actors lives and original broadcast, attention to focus and the film used didn't bring clarity. Blu Ray doesn't add storyline or plot, but it does offer a different visual on the stories as it is brighter and clearer. Season 2 is on its way as I write this (May 6) and hopefully they go on and release the whole thing-all 8 seasons! It's worth it!

great storytelling with an excellent restoration of each episode, the picture quality makes you feel like you are watching these episodes for the first time. if your a fan of michael landon, you wont be disappointed, even for newcomers to this series. it will make you laugh , cry and everything in between. the stories are well told as we follow the ingalls family and the characters are well rounded. pick this one up asap!! recommended

Great show if you are into the prairie and country life. Strong moral values, great lessons for kids and adult alike, just wonderful series. Every seasons is a must buy at Best Buy's price. One of the few shows that get's my entire family into one room to watch T.V.

My five year old granddaughter began watching the reruns on television. She got really frustrated when they were televised out of sequence. So I ordered season one for her for Christmas. She is thrilled to watch the episodes in order and without commercials.

Great Gift for either your mom or grandmother. Although an old series, DVD still adapts to modern DVD players.

Well I watched this show back in my child hood and it is great to see a series such as this out on bluray. These days there aren't shows like Little House on The Prairie. Obviously times change but still good to see this out there.

The following review is based on the assumption that you are already familiar with this television series. This is my review of the new 40th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray season 1 set. I grew up watching this show on TV in syndicated formats. Many, many years ago I purchased the original DVD release of this and was pretty satisfied with it considering this is a show from the mid 70’s. So one day I was came across the show on Directv channel, INSP. While watching I noticed just how horrible the picture and sound was. Many scenes seam to suffer some sort of jaundice or something. Then I saw a commercial advertising the new Blu-ray release, so I went online to check it out. Cost was pretty cheap, so I ordered them. As a point of reference, I went back and looked over a random episode of my older DVD version and compared it to the same episode in the Blu-ray version and Yes there was a big difference. The overall picture quality on the Blu-ray was much better. The colors were more vibrant and the picture was much sharper. The sound was also much better and seamed much more accurate. Compared to the syndicated version I saw on TV these discs where the difference between night and day. I am not able to compare the 40th anniversary versions of dvd vs. Blu-ray, but since the price is pretty much the same, if you have a Blu-ray player, you should probably go that way. However, make sure your players firmware is up to date and expect a slight delay in load time (this is normal). As for the claim that these are the complete uncut original broadcast versions, is false. Yes most episodes have been restored to their full original length but others still have some small missing scenes. My guess is that the original footage was either lost or damaged and that they did the very best they could. I would further guess that this will be the last time this show will be released in any format for a very long time. I cannot see were they could really make more improvements. Perhaps some more bonus features for a cash grab, but that’s it. The bonus foot already included here is not substantial but it is very nice. For more bonus stuff just head over to youtube.

My family loves these Great TV shows. You can instill the importance of family working together. Morals & honesty & hard work are uncomprimized! We are working on owning all of these. These shows are so funny watching Laura & Mary growing up. Excellent choice for hundreds of reasons!!

But that's just my opinion, you have to purchase this to judge for yourself. I never listen to reviews, I only care about what I think.
