...the heart of the sun, and a great concert! Nick Mason, drummer for Pink Floyd, rounded up some of his mates to form Saucerful of Secrets, a band he put together to play early pre-Dark Side of the Moon songs, and he hit it out of the park with this performance at the legendary London venue, The Roundhouse, which Pink Floyd played at early in their career. Recorded on two consecutive nights, the band expertly traverses these early songs, with a heavy Syd Barrett slant, which is fascinating to listen to knowing that he eventually went certifiably insane. Talk about taking creativity to a whole new level. Nick surrounds himself with outstanding musicians and they are obviously having a lot of fun as smiles are everywhere throughout this performance. Everyone does a great job with the vocals and the musicianship is first rate. The song selections are as follows: Beginnings Interstellar Overdrive Interstellar Domine Lucifer Sam Fearless Obscured By Clouds When You're In Remember A Day Arnold Layne Vegetable Man If Atom Heart Mother If (reprise) The Nile Song Green Is The Color Let There Be More Light Childhood's End Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun See Emily Play Bike One Of These Days A Saucerful Of Secrets Point Me At The Sky The video quality is excellent even though it would've been nice to see a 4K transfer but it looks great as is. The 5.1 surround mix is excellent with instruments placed around the soundstage to give a really nice open concert feel to it, with the crowd obviously enjoying themselves as well. The sound formats available on this Blu-ray disc are: 2.0 Uncompressed LPCM Stereo 5.1 Uncompressed LPCM Surround Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound All in all a great concert with great sound and video. So if you like early Floyd you will absolutely love this concert. Apparently Nick put the band together because he hadn't really been playing much for 25 years and had the urge to get out and play live again. We're all lucky that he did!

Early Pink Floyd is my favorite era for the band and this concert video is nothing but the early material. The picture and sound of the Blu-ray Disc is awesome. This is probably the best sounding concert video I own, and I own a lot. Audio is available in Uncompressed Stereo, Uncompressed Surround as well as Dolby Digital. The Uncompressed Surround setting is astounding. These guys put together a great band and the joy they all exude is obvious and spreads directly to the viewer. While nobody can replicate the angelic voice of David Gilmour, Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt do a fabulous job. Nick Mason at 75 years old is unbelievable and his playing is as good or better than I've ever seen it. I was hoping to catch Saucerful of Secrets live back in March but the pandemic got in the way. This release makes up for that and I am considering purchasing the 4K version when it's released. Highly recommended!

This is a must have for any Pink Floyd fan. This is the old stuff - nothing from Darkside of the Moon or later.
