One of Tom Cruise’s strongest sci-fi flicks, with one of the most unique premises this side of Groundhog’s Day. Surprisingly, not seen by many when it first released, this has slowly grown in reputation since and for good reason. The action is incredible, the alien designs are intriguing and the chemistry between Emily Blunt and Tom is off the charts. But she’s no mere eye candy! Emily gets to shine as a tough, inspirational soldier with a secret that could help Tom defeat the aliens. Alternately known as “Live. Die. Repeat.” See this at once!

The best alien war movie ever. I recommend having the best Subwoofers u can afford. WARNING: The beginning plays 24hz which will Damaged weak subs if cranked too loud. U been WARNED!!!

We pretty much all know this movie by now. Super fun sci-fi war movie by Tom Cruise. There's other sites that can get more in depth into the visual/audio review than me, but watching on a 65" Sony X950h and 5.0 surround with Klipsch RP speakers for sound I was very pleased with the 4k disc. You definitely need a big subwoofer (or two) to fully appreciate the low tones this movie is known for, but my towers do good enough for me to save up longer for a real big sub. The picture quality is just great too, super clear image, the aliens look amazing thanks to the extra highlights from HDR. I will note I have a Sony UBP-X700 as a player which is known to have issues freezing up on some 100GB discs, which this movie is on, and I've watched it through a few times with no issues now. The only thing I could actually complain about is there's no artwork on the discs themselves. Both are just plain black with the title and other info on them. Which doesn't actually matter, but it is nicer when the discs are done up a little too.

One of Tom Cruise's best films. It has everything. Best described as a sci-fi with lots of action elements of comedy, romance & drama.

Great flick with plenty of action from start to finish. Had to add this 4k steelbook version to complete the combo set. Keep'em com'in Bestbuy!!!

i thought this was a good film, thought the story was very interesting but at the same time a little weird and bizzarre. liked the look of the creatures and also liked the action as well

I think this movie flew under a lot of people's radars and it's a shame because it's really a very well-made movie. For people accusing it of it just being groundhog day, they literally named the main female character in this movie "Rita," the same name as the female character from groundhog day, yes, they know, it's called a homage, doesn't at all detract from the movie. In fact they use it in such an entertaining way, it's perfectly used. Emily Blunt is fantastic in this movie. How badass she is and her sassy attitude, it's hard not to fall in love with her character. The wonderful Bill Paxton also does not disappoint. His role is much smaller than the main two characters but is no less memorable thanks to Mr. Paxton's legendary comedic delivery, RIP. Tom Cruise does a good job bringing everything together and being that central character that at times feel extremely relatable. Overall one of the best movies in recent memory.

Beautiful steelbook... I feel like they could have done more with this but I am still happy with what I got. The movie is excellent- you should see it and if you like steelbooks this is a no brainer. There was a modification of the sound field expecially the infamous speaker destroying note near the beginning... it is not a problem but a solution. I think it is a improvement. Don't let a single note define a movie regardless... it has never looked or sounded this good before.

I first saw this action-packed film when it was released in theaters in the summer of 2014. I loved the time-travel aspect of it, but also very much enjoyed the chemistry between Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. When I found out the movie had been remastered in 4K and eas being released in this special edition steelbook, I just had to pick it up! If you are a fan of action-packed films and lots of fun, you'll enjoy this. Highly recommended!

Excellent artwork for steelbook. Picture 8/10. Some blurry over saturated spots here and there but 4k is beautiful. Sound 10/10 holy cow! Atmos really booms with proper surround. I had to turn bass to -10 with my 150w pioneer floor speakers and 7.1 boston surround speakers through my dennon amp. Highly recommend this film. In my top 10 for atmos glory

You wouldn't think a Tom Cruise sci-fi action extravaganza with Groundhog Day elements would be worth your time, but it's a truly great film with solid performances and visuals. One of my the best in the last few years and, while it deserves a sequel, it stands on it's own as an interesting and well thought out action film.

I just adore sci-fi-action-groundhog day and the 4K upgrade is marginal, but welcome. HDR provides the only real upgrade to picture, though it is unhelpfully pretty dark, but the (now Atmos) surround track is still legendary. The steelbook has an ugly matte finish and the printing is quite desaturated as a result. I probably would have waited for the standard release if I had known this since it isn't really evident in any of the marketing materials. It's still a great film, though.

First getting a Steelbook in pristine condition is like winning the lottery, so that’s why this gets 5 stars. Great sci-fi film and great transfer! Beach scenes are spectacular. Night and dark scenes hold up well with no artifacts. Sound is also a winner. Dynamic, punchy bass.
