Recording of a great concert pairing

This is a radio/telecast recording of the tour with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers opening and then backing Bob Dylan from the late 1980's it was a great tour and the recording has Petty and Dylan songs along with classic rock covers. Dylan is in fine voice and rises to the occasion in this recording. Many rock fans said this tour was on the scale of the Dylan and the Band join tours of 60's and early seventies. Petty's Heartbreakers have always been one of the best tour bands ever. A must for fans of Petty and/or Dylan. Being a simulcast concert sound quality is better than most CDs of this type.

A Nice Souvenir of '86 Tour

Since there has not been an official release of the 1986 Bob Dylan/Tom Petty "True Confessions" tour, this is a good introduction to the material they played. On the down side, the sound quality is fair, and the 2 second gap between songs is annoying. But the song selection is varied, the performance spirited, and the CD is reasonably priced. Purist may want to seek out the 2 CD set from this tour, but this is a nice overview and a great way to get started.

If you are a fan of Tom Petty & Bob Dylan you will love this. Because it is a live radio broadcast the immaculate sound quality that you get on a Tom Petty studio recording is not there, but once you ease into the set it is great fun. The Heartbreakers were obviously having a blast on the never ending tour with Bob!

Even though its missing songs from the original broadcast...and other versions have some of them.
For the price, this is excellent cd to have in your collection. Would recommend to anyone. And this coming from a person who thinks Bob Dylan is highly over rated. Sorry. But the combo is a good mix.

This radio broadcast has very good sound quality. The performance is inspired. Dylans vocals are great and the song selection is excellent. This disc actually should be a Dylan disc. Only a few tunes with Petty solo vocals, however it seems the Heartbreakers are the backing band on all the selections.

Back in the 80s THIS was THE concert to see. To watch Bob Dylan test the Heartbreakers on a nightly basis by switching up arrangements to his classic hits, only to HAVE Tom and Company not even break a sweat was out of this world. I dont think Dylan has had a band backing him this prolific since THE BAND. The sound is what you would expect from a live recording. But its a must for anyone who is a fan of Dylan and Petty and anyone who wants to know how the Dylan/Petty tune Jammin Me came about/

It's a good album, and as usual Bob puts new spins on all his songs. I was expecting more from Tom, though, so that was a little disappointing.

The audio quality isn't perfect by any means, but the performances are great, and the set list is inspired.

From the mid 80's. Sound quality is fine, and Bob and the Heartbreakers are in fine form.

While the set list and performance are strong, the recording quality is poorer than I would have expected from a radio station. Even in the 80s. It sounds like they only had microphone taping and not a soundboard.
Wait for a deal

Overall recorded nicely but as typical for live recordings particularly radio broadcasts of this era rather dull. Only thing of real interest is their choice of covers. For fans only

How can you beat Tom Petty with Bob Dylan???No way. People dissed the sound quality. Well, if you have been to concerts, it's never sounds like a sound studio. Also some off the cuff Bob Dylan. Worth the price.

Reminiscent of the Travelling Wilburys days, Tom Petty & Bob Dylan make a great partnership. This live disc is a rare, tasty treat!

Had very high hopes for this recording. Tom Petty and Dylan live in the mid eighties. A no-brainer. Unfortunately, the sound quality is very poor and left me wondering how this actually made it to release. The songs are great and Petty and Dylan don't disappoint - but it's hard to get past the horrid sound quality.
