I saw this movie for the first time as a young teenager and I've liked it ever since. It's a unique story line about a society of mainly people under the age of 30. Most comply with a law stating that you must be put to death when you turn 30. The few that disobey the law, runners, try their best to leave this society and are hunted down by, sandmen, who do their best to terminate your life. The main character, Michael York, a sandman finds himself on a journey of survival. A must see for sci-fi fans.

Despite the wooden acting, the plot of a dystopian society where everyone is sentenced to death upon reaching the age of 30 is still so good that they're working on a re-make.
Interesting thing to note is Farrah Fawcett's movie debut in this movie...and her horrible acting (I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out and the giggles from the audience at her terrible acting...and the outright cheers when she was killed).
The Blu-ray transfer is so good that in some scenes it's clear where the matte paintings begin in the special effects shots.
This blast from the past was definitely worth the $6.00.

It was great catching up with this movie again. Michael York is always fun, and the plot is intriguing, but the movie has become dated. A product of its time.

I like sci-fi, but in particular B-grade, campy sci-fi. While I think it was most definitely intended to be a serious movie, Logan's Run is clearly camp.
In general I enjoy the movie even if it does get a bit slow nearer the end. The actual plot isn't bad, the acting is reasonably good, Jenny Agutter is gorgeous, and it makes for a very, very good Saturday night flick with pizza and libations.
The only real down-side to this Blu-Ray release is that it shows the film's physical quality limitations, but hey... it's campy sci-fi so it's not an actual criticism, but more a heads-up.

Watched it as I kid and thought it was good. Watching it as an adult you see it was a good sci to for its time but it's dated now. Still fun to watch

I grew up in the 70's and remember watching this when I was maybe 12 years old. A pretty wild futuristic thriller with the lead character trying to uncover what happens when your "clock" starts to tick near midnight of your day of reckoning. The scene when he spills his pockets in front of the machine displaying the "ankh" is incredible, just sends chills up my spine and makes me think of the Pink Floyd song "Welcome To The Machine". Okay, it doesn't hurt knowing this is Farrah's first ever movie as well although she just has a bit part. Makes you think and entertains at the same time. I have had the DVD for years so the Blu Ray production is just simply that much better for both video and sound.

When I viewed this film during it's first run it was a major advance in effects for that period of time. Some of the musical effects jump started my interest in electronic music. I had already read the novel, so as expected, the movie was a disappointment. The performances of some of the actors was disappointing. Some of the roles seem poorly cast or played as I see them.
The principle of the film is that humans are allowed to live no longer than the age of 21. A person has a crystal embedded in their hand to tell them when to report to the center where they are given the chance to live longer (but are actually disintegrated).
Logan is an officer whose job it is to capture any who refuse to report for their try at life. He chases and captures runners. When it's his turn he tries to run as others who he captured did, hence the title of the film.
The effects, like many modern films, get in the way a bit and some are poorly done. As with most films made from novels the result is disappointing. But the film is still worth seeing in part because it reflects the industry in the middle 1970s and because it still has some entertaining value. If you enjoyed the novel, you might want to skip the film.

I had heard about this movie over the years in passing and so when I found it on sale in the discount bin I bought it (as I had never seen it on Netflix).
It was made in the mid 70s, so don't expect too much by way of technology/acting/dress.
Some of it doesn't make sense at all, such as why they get out of their freezing wet clothes just to get back in them minutes later.
I think a re-make of it would be awesome!

Yes it was all shot in a mall and much of the time it looks it but the ideas behind it are well beyond the movie goers experience for when this came out. It is a cross between Lucas's THX-1138 & Rod Serling. It has some surprises, some drama, and an interesting moral. To the modern theatre goer it's been done over & over but in it's day the ideas and effects would have been fresher and a bit shocking.

Picked this up on a whim from the ''dump bins" sale at BB, as I hadn't seen the movie in years. Transfer and colors are nice, sound and mastering are good (excellent original soundtrack!), considering it is a 1970s source. Typical barebones Blu-Ray packaging with a few decent-looking extra features that I haven't got around to watching. Excellent buy at only $6. Recommended.

Of course the special effects are not going to be a "perfect" as what you would see in today's movies, and I'm surprised this movie has not been "RE-MADE" by Hollywood yet. The story line and acting still holds up though, and it is a fun action sci-fi filled with excitement and mystery. I personally like even watching sci-fi movies from the 1950's and this being from the 70's is already higher quality. So if you are OK with watching "older" sci-fi movies then you won't be disappointed. (just don't expect it to look like "Avatar" - LOL)

We have enjoyed this movie since it came out 'way back when', having seen it a couple of times in theaters; then purchasing the VHS copy when that came out and watching it numerous times. Now that we have gotten rid of all our VHS (the machine no longer worked properly) tapes, it was nice to see this movie on BluRay. It actually seems to be better (both visually and content) that we remember.

A vintage 1976 movie set in 2274. World is in ruins and survivors live inside a domed city with a computer dictates at 30 years old you must die to be reborn. The law enforcement know as Sandmen are to stop Runners. When 1 gets a request to go underground and destroy the runners, he is faced with difficult reality of what was real and what is not.

Dug this old school sci fi favorite out of the $5 bin. A little slow by today’s standard perhaps but works well on a nostalgic basis, particularly for Gen Xers like me who remember pre cable late night sci fi and horror showcases where this was a favorite. Also an opportunity to see pre Charlie’s Angels Farrah Fawcett polishing her acting chops.

This is an upgrade from DVD. It still looks like an older movie, but it is an older movie. It's just nice to have it on Blu-Ray.
DON'T STREAM!! If you love the movie, get a DVD/Blu-Ray!! Don't give the industry the power to take the movie away by removing it from their servers!! I want a hard copy in my hand!!
Support 3D!! If I see it in 3D, I WANT TO BUY IT IN 3D!!!! Don't let the studio withhold from us!!

I don't think I saw this movie since it first came out. So, found it in the bargain bin and couldn't resist. The story drags on towards the end as it tried to sort itself out but overall nicely done. I do have to say that Peter Ustinov was superb in his role, in fact his acting ability far out-shined everyone else's without question.
