Expensive and not the greatest quality. The tension adjustments are quite annoying to get right and is hard to use with a lighter mic. Looks good and pairs well with the Radius 3 attachment with my Yeti.

So far, I like this boom arm. The tension adjustments at the elbows are a little finicky though. Overall, it’s a sturdy boom arm.

Tension is way to high and will fling it self like a bat out of hell if you let go. Screw at the bottom does almost nothing. The fastener in the arm are cheap plastic that will break and do not bottom out.

Hello Robert. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Compass Boom Arm. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting the arm to stay put. It is meant to be a counterweight to the Yeti and other microphones. With nothing on it, or a very lightweight microphone, the tension will be too great, but when the microphone is attached, it stays exactly where you put it (most of the time). Once it is set up, it is able to be moved and adjusted with a single hand without having to loosen or tighten bolts. Also, please make sure you are using the arm with the channel for the cable on the top... If it is upside down, it will never work as it should. -Charlton at Logitech/ Blue Mics

Good Upgrade!

Took a little bit to set up but this is one heck of an upgrade from my bare-bones arm that I got from amazon. The ability to rotate 360 degrees freely and without any need to loosen anything allows me to station this arm anywhere I want. The channel used for the cord is a lot neater and cleaner than the velcro strap I was using for cable management.

Unless you have a heavy mic, the stand will not stay in place regardless of how much you tighten the hinges.

Only complaint is, the arm has hard time staying down and/or extended even with tension released. It works with a bit of adjustment for some time but eventually retracts

Got this to hold my Shure SM7B mic, works great, but had to use a small extender so I could plug in the XLR cable. Holds mic well with no issue and has great cable management channel that fits both, the xlr cable and a headphone cable nicely. Very happy with my purchase and looking to pick up another to hold my webcam.

It looks nice and of higher quality but it doesn't work well. The tension did not work to hold up the Blue Yeti in the position I needed it in.

An Unfortunately Defective Product

I went to tighten it and it kept popping itself back up anyways. Then the tightening parts just snapped off without even having been tight enough to prevent the arm from un-bending itself.
This is definitely a defective design and the arm should have some sort of locking mechanism if it's not.
I make enough money that I don't care enough to spend the time to return it but still, I'm disappointed that a company such as Logitech has their name on something so flawed. I wouldn't be suprised if Best Buy pulled these from their inventory and returned them soon due to the defect and return volume.

Provided you have the blackout or similar yeti mic this will work perfectly. I have not have any issues since I put it on my desk. As long as you have the 6.6ft cord that came with the mic cable management is really convenient. There is some drift at certain angles when the mic isn't heavy enough, but overall the arm is very maneuverable.
