[Employee of bestbuy] I purchased this boom arm for my hyperx quadcast hopeing for a great boom arm over my cheap 25 dollar one, upon taking it out the build quality is great but once set up i soon realized after torqueing the tensioners as hard as i can. The arm continued to never stay in one place and the arm always went back to a 90 degree angle. Bottom line the boom arm is garbage for lighter mics.

Is good for the price but break really easy, so be carefully when handling

Really like the sleek and modern design. Easy to attach to desk and position where needed. Overpriced for what it is though.

Great Mic stand, great build quality and great for cable management, however, if you have a lighter mic, it might not stay in place easily, I had to really twist the tension knob to the point where it slightly damaged it, other than that it's great quality and easy to use!

This is a fantastic mic stand, but it can be a bit tricky to get the tension right so the mic doesn't float on-screen. It's VERY solidly made, has built-in cable management so it looks very clean, and the c-clamp is nice and wide so it accommodates desktops that are on the thick side. Only thing keeping this from a five star review is that initial setup, but there are plenty of YouTube vids to walk you through.

Works great, I have used this with the Blue Yeti X microphone. I do find the adjustment to sometimes be a bit finnicky, but it will land in the right place with some tweaking. Attached to the microphone perfectly.

The tension on this was way too tight. The adjustment screw essentially did nothing. No amount of tightening the joints would make the stand stay in position. I ordered a second one hoping the first was a fluke and it was the same way.

Overall a decent mount. The adjustment could be better. If you don’t have a heavier mic on it, it tends to lift up due to lack (there is adjustment, just not enough)of tension adjustment.

I'm a YouTuber and I use my compass boom arm with my Blue Yeti Pro mic and I love it. It makes positioning the mic very easy and it's very strong. It supports the mic and the Blue Radius III shockmount well.

One of if not the BEST mic stand for the price , very sturdy and the Cable management is very nice for that clean look!

I bought this for my Elgato mic which is very light and it did not function well. I loosened the tension screw all the way and there was still too much tension to keep the arm from flinging itself back out. I gave it to my husband to use with a heavier mic. Very disappointed.

Hello Holly, Very sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Compass Microphone Stand and it not working with your Elgato mic. Since your microphone is light, you should've tightened the tension and not loosened it more. With mic and shockmount, the max weight hold for the Compass is 2.4lbs. Very glad to hear that you were able to give it to your husband for him to use. Here's a link to the product support page for the Compass that has a Setup Guide PDF, warranty information, and more: https://support.bluedesigns.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034033974-Getting-Started-Compass. Hope that this helped and that all is going well. Thank you for choosing Blue. - Richard from Blue/Logitech

Great boom arm. Tension is a little tight but I appreciated the ease of use and the style of setup. Fit my podcast very well.

Works really well, but ONLY if you have a blue microphone and the the blue shock mount. This is because both the microphone and shock mount are really heavy and counterbalance the extremely stiff springs. Without it, there’s really no way to get the springs to stay without raising up, even with adjusting the spring tension screw.

My son's Christmas was made! Great boom stand for streaming. Needs some tension adjustment for lighter mics. Would have been nicer if the shock mount was included.

Great over all microphone stand. I use it for the shire sm7b and it fits like a glove however it was slightly pricey.

This is the best arm for the Blue Yeti mic as it is made by the same company. For those people worried that there is not enough tension, there is a silver screw on the bottom of the mount that needs to be screwed to the right to increase the tension.

The construction of this boom arm is nice, similar in style to the Yellowtec Mika. It is designed to support the Blue microphone, which is large and heavy, and the tension of the arm is set accordingly. But if you mount a lighter microphone (which is most other microphones!) the arm will tend to rise. A tension screw in the base can adjust tension slightly, but it can't be set low enough for a sturdy lighter microphone, like a Shure SM58.

Great arm. Don’t overtighten the adjustment. This arm works best with the first segment at 90 degrees to the base. I have it straightened out coming under my monitor with the mic close to my mouth.

Very durable and strong, best holder I ever had. I really enjoy using it for recording podcasts and audio work.

I would give 5 stars, but I REALLY struggled at the beginning to get it to stay in place, it's still a bit wonky sometimes.
