After two decades of wrangling tech in server rooms and setting up countless workstations, I've learned that the best tools aren't always the flashiest, they're the ones that adapt to how you actually work. The Logitech Flip Folio caught my attention because it challenges the conventional wisdom about iPad keyboards. Instead of locking you into a laptop-like setup, it asks: what if your keyboard could go where you need it? Setting up the Flip Folio reminded me why I appreciate thoughtful design. The case itself feels solid, that soft-touch exterior might show fingerprints (especially on this graphite model), but it provides excellent grip. What struck me immediately was the heft. At 818g total for the 13-inch version, it's actually heavier than Apple's Magic Keyboard. That weight primarily comes from the robust kickstand mechanism and generous magnets that make this case stable. The magnetic attachment for the keyboard is satisfying, and when you snap it onto the back for storage, everything feels secure. The full-sized Bluetooth keyboard can detach completely and sit wherever you want it. Need to elevate your iPad to eye level to reduce neck strain? Go ahead. Want to type while your iPad sits across the table? No problem. The keys themselves offer decent travel and spacing, though they lack backlighting (a puzzling omission at this price point). Battery life is exceptional. Logitech promises two years on four CR2016 coin cells, and the keyboard automatically powers down when attached to the case. The multi-device pairing is genuinely useful; I found myself switching between my iPad and iPhone seamlessly using the dedicated switching keys. In daily use, the Flip Folio reveals both its strengths and limitations. The adjustable kickstand works brilliantly in both landscape and portrait modes, something I genuinely appreciate when reviewing documents or coding. The case provides solid protection front and back, though the edges remain somewhat exposed. Here's what's missing: a trackpad. After years of using iPad keyboards with integrated trackpads, reaching up to touch the screen feels like stepping backwards. It's not a dealbreaker, but it does change how you interact with iPadOS. Some users have reported fit issues around the camera bump, though my unit aligned properly. So who's this for? If you're someone who uses a keyboard occasionally, maybe a few times a week for longer emails or document editing, the Flip Folio makes sense. It undercuts the Magic Keyboard by nearly half while offering unique flexibility. Students who need to type in cramped lecture halls, remote workers bouncing between coffee shops, or anyone who values adaptability over integration will find value here. However, if you're typing all day or rely heavily on trackpad gestures, you'll want to look elsewhere. Bottom line: The Flip Folio isn't trying to turn your iPad into a MacBook, it's embracing what makes a tablet special while adding keyboard functionality when you need it. Is it perfect? No. The lack of backlighting and trackpad will frustrate some users, and the weight negates some portability advantages. But for those who want typing flexibility without being locked into a laptop paradigm, it's a clever solution. Sometimes in tech, different is exactly what we need. Just be honest about your workflow before clicking buy, this keyboard demands you adapt to its philosophy, not the other way around.

In concept this case appears to be an improvement on the Magic Keyboard. In reality there are some annoying drawbacks. The keyboard constantly slides off its magnetic holder. The flip stand does not keep its shape and constantly needs to be adjusted. After using the Folio for 2 weeks I cannot recommend this keyboard. Hopefully Logitech will correct these issues with their next version.

I have used a few of these as I have moved to different iPads over the years and, and I have found them to be a good value and work for me rather well. This one is much the same, as there is a lot that I do like, but there are a few things that have left me wondering. For starters, the build is good, everything is solid, it’s a decent weight, and everything just feels good in the hand. Given everything, it may be “very slightly” thicker than some are used to, but it is not a big issue for me. My iPad snapped right on/in, and while it didn’t seem to be the same as prior models, it felt secure. Continuing that theme, I think it provides a nice level of protection, which frankly is mostly what I am looking for. A change made was that the keyboard is not attached to the case itself, but rather separate. I like this implementation, as it gives me a little more freedom on setup, use, and comfort. It is designed to magnetically stow away on the back of the case itself when not in use. I was a little wary, but it more or less easily attaches and, at least so far, has been rock solid. Again, I like this, as it makes the unit more compact when I don’t need the keyboard. The keyboard itself, well, is good. It is about what you would expect here, and given the small size I suppose it is done well. You also get a row of function shortcut keys up top, which is nice to see. Really, it is nice to type with, but I am mostly using some light to normal use, just something to note as I don’t know how it would be for heavy or extended uses. Admittedly, I do miss a trackpad, but I knew that going in. Same with backlit keys. A feature I do really like is the ability to connect to 3 devices. I was hesitant, but it works perfectly, with solid connections and easy switching. Along those same lines, you can position the iPad either in portrait or landscape mode allowing so I was able to have my iPad and phone next to each other. All nice adds that I had not realized going in. Use in general in good, with this, the free keyboard, and the ability to view at different angles. All in all, all good there. One thing I am uncertain about, perhaps for no reason, is the battery/charging situation. Instead of making it chargeable, they opted to go with 4 replaceable CR2016 batteries (kind of like larger watch batteries) and are claiming 2 years of battery life. I am sure that will vary given use, and I do love the idea of not having to worry about charging, but will they last? Time will tell. Everything could be great, and a non-issue, but just another thing to note. Ultimately, I do like this case/keyboard. It is put together well and I think a good value. There are pros and cons, as with everything, and I think it will really come down to what you are looking for and use case, but I think this will work for quite a few people.

The keyboard itself delivers a good typing experience with function shortcut keys and easy multi-device connectivity, which you found to work "perfectly." You also highlight the useful ability to orient the iPad in both portrait and landscape modes for versatile viewing. Your main point of uncertainty lies with the non-rechargeable CR2016 coin cell batteries and their claimed two-year life, which you're keen to see tested with real-world use. Despite missing a trackpad and backlit keys, which you were aware of, you generally find it a good value and a suitable option for many users.

Very disappointed. Especially considering the price. I have the previous version. It’s is great so when we added a new iPad I decided to buy again. This version is terrible. The key board does not stay on and the iPad falls out. Save your money.

There are many things I liked about this Logitech case. One of the things is the fact that the keyboard is removable without leaving the screen unprotected. Without it, it feels much lighter than any other case I have tried before. And unlike many other cases with keyboard, the Flip Folio looks really nice which is something I do care about since I use my iPad for work too and I’d say it is the reason why most people tend to buy the Apple keyboard. Look and design count and I believe Logitech nailed it here. Something else that caught my attention is that I can use the keyboard with my iPhone and my wife can use it with her iPad as well. Switching between devices is extremely easy. At this point, I was about to rate it five stars, but reaching perfection is not an easy task. There are a few things that I was not overly impressed by. The first is that it requires external charging. That was not a surprise as it seems that few companies use the iPad connector to draw power from. I am not disappointed, but it is something to consider if you are comparing it to the Apple Magic Keyboard. The upside here is that it doesn’t drain your iPad battery and it seems that one charge will last a very long time. ` Oddly enough, when the keyboard is not in use, it stays connected magnetically to the outside case facing inward, which blends with the case, and you can’t tell there’s a keyboard there. I like the idea but at that point the magnet, which is strong when the keyboard is in use, becomes too weak and the keyboard falls off very easily. Since it is impossible to place the keyboard with the keys pointing outward, it is easy to assume there is a magnet on the back of the keyboard which explains while it is repelled if you don’t insert it with the keys pointing inward. Unfortunately, the keys add distance between the keyboard and the case magnets which explains the issue. Also, it does not have something to hold the Apple pencil in place. I mostly blame Apple for not designing something to ensure the Pencil won’t fall off that weak magnet, but it would have been nice if this case had something to help with that flaw. But please do not think I didn’t like the case or the keyboard. I have tried 6 other similar cases, and this is my favorite by far. I still recommend it.

This Logitech case truly impresses you with its removable keyboard that maintains screen protection, making the iPad much lighter for standalone use, and its premium, Apple-level design that "nailed" the aesthetics crucial for work. You also highly value its multi-device connectivity for seamless switching between your iPhone and your wife's iPad, though its external charging and a weak magnetic hold for the stowed keyboard (due to keys creating distance) are noted minor drawbacks. Despite these, it remains your "favorite by far" among similar cases, earning your strong recommendation for its overall well-thought-out features and functionality.

The keyboard magnet is not as strong so I have already lost my keyboard. It just kept falling off. It doesn’t even have a pencil holder available.

Logitech is known for making exceptional iPad accessories, so I was excited to pick this one up for my iPad Air M2 13". I wanted something versatile, easy to travel with, and something to bring outside to my patio. While this is a great concept from Logitech, it doesn't really check my boxes or offer a better alternative to my Apple keyboard folio. I've been seeing the marketing that Logitech is doing for this product, they show it being used at the beach, on the patio and for traveling. While I would never take an iPad to the beach, I wanted it for the other two scenarios. Here is what it does well: - Multiple viewing angles - Protects the iPad really well - Keyboard is a good size, light and very comfortable to type on - The keyboard attaches to the folio with magnets for portability Here is what I don't like: - It is heavy! Not really ideal for some of my uses - Kickstand design feels a bit cheap, the plastic on the folio warps a bit when using it. - Magnet to make it stand up isn't very strong - I would like to tilt it up more to help with the strain on my neck - Their marketing shows someone at the beach using the detachable keyboard, really? Who is going to do that? This might be a good device for some people, but it misses the mark for me.
