Customers are positive about the G MX518 Wired Optical Gaming Mouse's comfortable shape, upgraded sensor, and excellent price-to-performance ratio. Many appreciate its classic design and accuracy, while some find the scroll wheel noisy and the weight a bit heavy. A few users reported issues with the cable and overall functionality. The DPI adjustability is also a frequently praised feature.

Checks most of the boxes for what I was expecting out of a rehash of the legendary MX510/518/G5v2 mouse that I'd loved and used for years until their demise. My only complaint is that the scroll wheel is very mushy vs what I've come to love out of other logitech mice. Nevertheless - this is a solid mouse for $40 OR $20 whatever price you can find it at

Logitech G MX518 corded gaming mouse

My original MX518 mouse finally gave up the ghost this year. I've had that mouse through 3-4 PCs - maybe 20+ years in total. That mouse, along with my Dell SK-8135 keyboard, was a real trooper. I've it taken apart several times to clean out the gunk that accumulates in its wheels. The poor mouse was giving me fits since it just didn't work due to old age. My local Best Buy store is only 6 minutes away. They had it on sale for $19.99 - $20 off coupon! I have large hands and this mouse fits very well. I don't it for any gaming functions - just a lot of spreadsheets and M/S software. This is a total no-brainer. This G model is as good as the original and I'm very pleased with its functions, the BB price, and they ordered it from a nearby store and transferred it to my local store without any other charges. I'm a very happy camper with my brand new corded mouse! ;-)

I was happy when I saw this mouse announced. The MX518 gaming mouse from Logitech was legendary, which makes the naming of this one appropriate. They changed the visual of the new mouse, but the grip and feel is the same. The sensor has been upgraded to match the current lineup of gaming nice, so you can crank it up to 16,000 dpi through Logitech's G Hub software if you want. I find 3200 dpi works well on my 2560x1440 gaming monitor. There's also the ability to change what the buttons do or even run macros. Personally, I disabled all the additional buttons and left the forward & back buttons alone. Definitely worth checking out if you can find one.

Best mouse for anything under $20. If you dont need alot of buttons and just want a solid mouse with good accuracy, grip and comfort...for aroumd $20 this is basically the only reasonable choice

I still have my original MX518. I put it aside to sell someday. I now use this. I liked it so much I purchased another as a backup in case anything goes wrong. Wish Logitech would just make a wireless version to complete my life.

The classic, updated with a new sensor. It's the mouse you remember. While it is heavy by modern standards, and has some quirks, that's part of the charm. Nothing quite like it for those of us used to its ergonomics.

Back in the Windows XP days this was the mouse I used to learn graphic design. Times have changed and technology has improved a great deal since then but there are still days I miss the comfort and feel that this mouse offered. I was surprised to see it back on sale and I immediately purchased one. Using it again is not just a nostalgic benefit but I appreciate that Logitech's engineers saw fit to improve on many features while respecting all the subtle things that made the original such a pleasure to use. The G -Hub software is a great enhancement while the physical mouse itself allows for quick adjustments at your fingertips. Definitely worth the price and a superior general use input device.

Great mouse for an entry level gaming mouse. Works great, it's comfortable, but the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the scroll wheel is a bit squeaky which can get annoying at times.

Brand response from Logitech

Hello eddie4! I'm happy to hear that, overall, you're enjoying the MX518 mouse! To fix any squeaking, you could take the mouse apart and clean the scroll wheel. Then apply some lubricant to the wheel. If this doesn't work, I would recommend reaching out to our support team here https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000621393 to submit a warranty claim. Thank you for this feedback and for shopping Logitech G! - Maggie from Logitech G

It's the classic! You know it. You love it. We keep buying it.
Cons: The mouse wheel doesn't feel as smooth when I use it but that's not a functionality problem. The new software though, G-Hub, if that was the only thing available to use this I would have returned it. It is horribly broken and I never made it past the loading logo. They seem to be heading the Synapse 2.0 direction but at least it didn't make me create an account or anything. Fortunately LogitechGamingSoftware_9.02.65 supports this model and you can easily find that online.
