Compatibility and setup are also appreciated by users. However, some customers find the brake pedal unsatisfactory, and a few wish the wheel was larger or that it made less noise.

It’s a little stiff when playing driving games. You have to step on the break extremely hard other than that it’s fine

Wheel and pedals are a blast. Took some getting used to, along with a LOT of minor tweaks to the settings. Gotta drive like you mean it. 1 thing that REALLY frustrated me until I fixed it- the break pedal is almost impossible to press down all the way. I couldn't figure out why I was flying off the track on turns... TURNS OUT there is a small rubber block shoved inside the spring cylinder for the break, preventing you from pressing down all the way. If you remove that (videos online), you're golden.

What a thorough and helpful review of the Logitech G920! It's great to hear you're enjoying the wheel and pedals, recognizing that mastering it involves some initial tweaking and a committed driving style. Your detailed explanation of the brake pedal's rubber block issue and its simple fix is invaluable; that insight will undoubtedly save other users a lot of frustration and help them unlock the full potential of their racing setup. Used to have the G27. Then I decided to buy another one and I like this one more. Some games will auto detect it and work like an xbox controller which is a bonus. Usually play Forza games (minimal setup required). Games like BeamNG, Assetto Corsa, etc, require more setup time. I think for the price this is a great setup. The only issue I did notice if I push really hard on the brake, it'll make a pop sound. I ended up just reducing the 100% threshold in down so I don't have to press it as hard to hit 100% brake power.

G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel Review

All in all, the g920 is a pretty good wheel if you’re going for a budget build. If you don’t mind paying $400 I would get the g923. I am using Windows 10 and the g920 Xbox version on a Asus gaming laptop which can run this pretty well. The Brake pedal is quite stiff and has dual motors unlike the newer model g923. The pedals are better on the g923 in that regard. The price on the g920 is still pricey for how long this model has been on the market it most likely would sell better if it was at $150 but that’s my opinion. It’s not the newest model but good for what I wanted. Games I play using this is: Forza Horizon 4, Need for Speed Heat, BeamNG.Drive and the Crew 2 there are most likely more games that are better with this wheel but those are all I have. But like I said before it’s a good wheel for what it’s worth.

The Gold Standard for Entry-Level Sim Racing

    |

Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I owned a Logitech MOMO racing wheel in the 2000s, and that was a premium product. But times have change since then and this really is the defined starting point for many sim racers now. VALUE: On sale for about $250, this was really a no-brainer. It's the right cost to see if you really even want to (or are skilled enough) to justify buying more expensive equipment. I will say after trying to dial down my desk setup for this with various items, I give up and I'm ready to purchase a Playseat Challenge X Logitech Edition to really dial in this setup. So yeah, at that point you are at about $600+ including the shifter (not really necessary for GT racing), but that is still the low end of this hobby. And you will be enjoying fully it at the casual level. QUALITY: The pedals and steering wheel feel really great for what many consider intro-level products. But unless you have actual track time, you probably don't need anything more if you are starting out at sim racing. Like above, the quality will increase when you combine this with a cockpit. Everything will be aligned mostly correctly and not shifting around, which will make your inputs better and racing more successful. I honestly can't wait to see how much more I will get out of this with the PlaySeat Challenge X. The Playseat Trophy might be better choice, but only if you have an entire space permanently dedicated to sim racing. EASE OF USE: Well, here I give a bit of a hit because like any other input devices, like joysticks for flight or microphones and cameras for recording, you are going to have to put some technical effort in to getting it just right for your setup and for your particular games. Sometimes things do not just work plug and play and setting everything up requires some testing and patience. On top of that, setting this up at a regular PC desk without a cockpit (no resistance on your chair wheels or a solid desk to mount) to will result in a lot of shifting of the inputs. Even on my massive butcher block desk, the wheel will sometimes pull out sliding on the laminate. When you are braking and oversteering there is a natural tendency to pull the wheel towards you, and having it mounted in place will defeat that. The shifter can move around too, especially after desperate quick-shifts (imho a hallmark of classic road car racing). Simply put, I don't see why the wheel, shifter, and challenge x aren't just offered in a sweet in-store only bundle for like $570, because they all function with each other and improve the experience together. You can see the PlaySeat brake and clutch combination pedal I purchased, which should also be included in this bundle. Then they could charge the whole $600. It's a beautiful pedal, and matches and fits perfectly on the G920 pedal base. If you are going to get in to GT racing, then this is really a must-have, so you can left-foot brake effectively. CONCLUSION: Despite the drawbacks, if you are just getting in to sim racing, and still figuring out how much you like it or what games to play of dialing in your desk/cockpit arrangement, this is still the best value option to go with while you evaluate those things. Spending more would be foolhardy if you then 4 months later decide you just can't be bothered with racing. Or have the space. The shifter is really kind of optional, most iRacing vehicles use a sequential shiftbox that the paddles on the wheel will handle. If you like racing rally, drift, classic cars, or factory stock cars, then the shifter is a great addition. For rally and drift, you are probably also going to want to get a dedicated handbrake input. Some people use the shifter as a handbrake, I have not tried that so I can't advise. But you have everything you need to experiment and decide if you want to spend more on a bigger better setup. Hand-down the old rig to your nephew and hit the tracks.

If you are looking for a steering wheel but thinking should I buy that? You came to the right one. This equipment I feel is top notch. The ingame feel is amazing. I use this in IRacing and won my first race a week ago. (Kinda started two weeks ago) i also bought the gear shifter with it as well. Also a must have. I would advise to have a sturdy desk or surface to put the wheel on. I use a desk and also find a way to mount your foot peddles they will slide on the floor if not. Luckily I have a family wood shop and build a platform for my peddles. Also Best Buy has a huge deal on this. I got the wheel for $219. A 45% discount. The wheel was originally $399 so I got the wheel the shifter and a 2 year geek squad protection for $367 out the door. You want one just wait til it goes back up for sale.

It’s a very nice wheel for me with only a few minor draw backs such as the super stiff brake but this can be worked around in most games by messing with the brake deadzones in most games. In the beginning the Force Feedback is a bit knotchy at first but when it is broken in it feels smoother though some games like Forza are just bad for FFB and wheels in general, which brings me to my next minor drawback which is at no fault to the wheel is in more Arcady games like forza the steering can feel vague and your lap times will be worse on the wheel than the controller so I wouldn’t recommend this for Forza however I would strongly recommend this wheel for racing sims as it is more consistent, immersive, and MAY REDUCE LAP TIMES which is awesome. You can be more precise in the steering with the wheel and makes sims like Project Cars more accessible. Oh almost forgot, one last drawback is the LSB and RSB buttons don’t appear to work but can be worked around by having your controller on at the same time to use the RS and LS buttons since the can be used at the same time.

Got it on sale for 200 plus the shifter for 50. The shifter is a must because it makes the games more enjoyable. Force feedback is hood for the price and the carpet spikes for the pedals are great. Break pedal is hard but if you change setting in game it works great. Buttons feel cheap but the buttons are raely used anyways. Padels are really nice make a quick click noise. I would only buy if you can get it on sale but it is still good for the price.
